NFL Looking to Suspend Players for Hits

Proposed rule change to suspend players for various types of tackles. Apparently they're going to keep a running tally all season and suspend you when you have your 3rd incident, you're suspended. From the attached letter, it looks like it carries over season to season. It follows for your whole career apparently.

It says the team can get penalized as well if they have too many violations.

Will these have to be called in game or will they have some intern watch film and fine you for a hip drop tackle the previous week?

I truely do not recognize this game played now vs the 60,,70,80’s.
These players today are so much softer and sustain injury so easily, many times without even being touched.
Yes, these players are bigger and faster and more athletic but they are not nearly as tough physically and mentally.
Today it’s more entertainment than it is pure football. Sad!

It's stupid. If they are really concerned about player safety, reduce the number of games. Go back to 14. They aren't, so they dress it up this way.

What a cluster-**** this will become. I can see the league targeting individual players and teams.

Just another way to control outcome of betting lines / games.

What’s the player’s association have to say ?

I get the safety concerns, but carry-over from season to season………….. sheeeeeeeeeeeet

Even the 90s. Remember Blitzburgh? The thing that changed a lot from the leagues perspective was Madden becoming more and more realistic. And with it the ability to turn off injuries.

The generation that grew up with that game will probably not watch on TV or buy tickets if the star QB/ running back/receiver is out. And as was mentioned by someone else the gambling aspect as well.
