The moves the team should strongly consider:

Again, nobody is shopping for a player like Broderick Jones at that premium position. Nobody with a dire need at left tackle is going to give up decent draft capital to acquire somebody who just had an operation on his spine in the offseason, is underweight, and has to play himself back into shape. They're not going to wait around for that. He was never very good even before his injury, and now he is dogshlt. Nobody is going to give a 4th or 5th round pick for this guy. You're dreaming.
He is already back over 300. He has been cleared from that injury. I wouldn’t call a 5th rounder decent draft capital.

I guess we will see, we will have to agree to disagree.

I agree there. It never ceases to amuse me the number of fans who want a player run out of town because they haven't been performing, but somehow expect that the Steelers can still get decent draft picks for them.
A 5th isn’t a decent draft pick. I don’t want him run out of town because he isn’t performing. I want him replaced because he is a left tackle and they are weak on the right side.

I am not the fan that wants ever player on a roster run out of town. I am the fan who wants depth shored up on an aging QBs last year. Nothing less nothing more. 😉

At this point, The Steelers may be able to get a few McDouble's for the locker room in a trade that sends Broderick to the drive through window.

Well let us not discount the tastiness of a McDouble that could have better value than a 5th rounder. The peeps around me have a high affection for MCDS. I always watching the calories though so I would give Broderick half of my burger on the way out. It is just the right thing to do.

I get what you’re saying with Najee. I hated the pick and thought he was drafted way too early for them.
1000 yards to me isn’t what it once was. Getting that in 14 games like they played back in the day with Franco and Rocky, that’s an accomplishment.
In 17 games it just doesn’t have the same sparkle for me.
They had other needs that draft for sure but this stunk of you know who meddling in the draft.

Fair enough

When I think of “bust” I’m looking at guys like Artie Burns and Uncle Jarvis, those are some real bullseyes on the bust board.

Yes but no, a lot of Claypool’s issues stem from Claypool, the quarterback room, the OC, and the coaching at the time. That was not an egregious reach. He had around 850 yards and nine receiving TDs plus two rushing tds as a rookie. He had 850 receiving yards as a second year pro. NFL position coaches should be able to improve a player when it comes to catching the ball with their hands and high-pointing the football. That’s before we get into route running. You should not be coaching at that level if you can’t develop or improve upon fundamentals. If you need another example, we have our man GP1. He just stayed the same here and then… top 5 in most major statistical categories. Oh yes, that’s all about Dak and CeeDee. It has nothing to do with anyone or anything else.

That made me laugh a little.
There really is no other viable way of catching a football than with your hands.

But joking aside, playing football since high school and a player who has earned being called a professional pass catcher needs to be taught how to catch with his hands?
I’d love to know how catching a ball in high school differs from how it’s done in the pros.

You're a good man, Slash.

Every team has its weaknesses. Stockpile these O linemen, and see who rises to the top.

I think this issue will be less of a concern when this team quits drafting "Swiss army knives" and sticks to specialists.

My favorite running back hs always been Franco. I just liked the way he ran with his legs

Contraire my friend, Martavious Bryant had a TD catch by securing the ball between his legs for the catch…….

Pretty sure you initiated this thread saying 4th or 5th.

Well cooch could get us two number ones after the trade deadline nobody is topping that!

Remember ther player he traded wasn’t actually on our roster at the time either………………

If only we could trade Aaron for a competent tackle!

Win-win

Exactly.
These guys have a lifetime of football by the time they reach the league. I remember all the people getting excited to see Dionte Johnson on the Jugs machine, expecting the man to learn to not drop the ball after 15-20 years of playing football. Natural pass catchers with good hands are born not coached.

I’m no expert on football, but I always hear “teaching” or “development of a player “ on the pro level….and I go along with it because I presume y’all know what you’re talking about.
But what does that really mean?
Never on any forum or thread has the process of “developing” a player been explained.

I would hope it has more to do with shaping a player in order to get him accustomed to the speed and complexity of the pro game…however that may be done.
…not teaching one that is called a “professional” making 7 figures on how to secure a football or catch a pass.

You are witnessing first hand the “developement” of the two younger QBs.

The process for any position is variable to the position and the player.

Even the “Professional” player can be developed to a better degree, but takes way less than the newer player.

Back to the catching comments of some. You are born with physical traits, but it takes “Developement” of the mental (and physical to a degree), to be better and better. Catching is about 80% mental where even a 2% mental error can erase all the physical born atributes of an athlete.

Antonio Brown continued training in catching the ball (endless use of the Juggs machine) to hone / develop his skills to a better level. He wasn’t just born into great catching, he trained very hard to be a great catcher and did the training at his professional level.
