Things to look for come Friday Game................

Berm wants:

1. No significant injuries
2. 2 or less penalties for the whole game
3. To see Rudy in street clothes next to Kaleb Johnson, who should also be in street clothes
4. Finally, JPJ to sign his deal before Wednesday
5. Case of Tito's

Yinz need to sync your phone to your car. As you can get a text read out loud and respond to it without looking at your phone..
My truck is so old it only has a radio with a cassette deck and disk player. I'll read your text when I get to my intended destination. Hope you have patience ;)

I think you know what. You have with Rudy.
Play Rodgers for a series and then let the young guys have at it

Take the old man out of the bubble wrap already?!??

Too soon 🤣

He should come out for the first series of the first game, anything before that is unnecessary exposure for the old, old man. A preseason series or two (or even a handful) will do zilch compared to the rust he’ll knock off in the first quarter vs the Falcons.

Beyond that there should be some serious load management throughout the year for the ole fella.
He should build some nice 20pt plus leads heading into the 4th to ensure the young guys some late game reps and then get the team going into week 17 with the division wrapped up already at say 11-4 so the young guns can give him a bye for weeks 17 and 18 to rest the guy up

so he doesn’t look 100 years old like he did in his last playoff appearance.

The bar for Howard to make the team seems to be being able to start and win a game early in the season if Rodgers goes down, so I want Howard to start this game and be out there with the 1’s for 4 series minimum, give him his shot

I want to see both OL and DL out there dominating the line of scrimmage with the 1’s for the first quarter. Cam can sit, he’s obviously proven himself

Cam needs a series or two.

5. Case of Tito's

That case of Tito's could get him a case of something he may not want......................

Rudolph needs a few series, but I do want to see more of Howard and Allar against the 1's and 2's. They won't do that or this, but I'd like to see Howard start this week and Allar next week. Howard has done nothing to lose his status as either QB2 or QB3. Sure, Allar has the arm, but Howard has pretty much everything else. So, start Howard this week, and if Allar looks good again, I'd start him next week or play right behind AR, who should get a few series in.

I have mixed feelings about starting Howard. Maybe they feel they need to see what they have with Howard then more than what they have with Drew (because Drew was a 3rd) if they let go of Mason but if they feel Allar has the most upside, then how many opportunities is the kid gonna get before the 27 draft to show his stuff? Maybe they play Mason one series and give the rest of the game to Drew and Will and just bring those kids in earlier than they came in last week and thats considered progression in regard to competition.

But why even play Rudolph? Is he going to show any team or the Steelers for that matter anything this game over and above his 9 year career that would make a difference? In fact, if anything a clunker could hurt his trade value.

I agree with you on playing Mason very little or sitting him. The question i have is how do you dive up the current QB3 and QB4 ? Id be surprised if they started Drew because teams usually dont change the camp slots after one preseason game. Maybe they view Drew as too early in his development to be thrown into the fire after one preseason game and want to build his confidence.

I want Allar and Howard to play a lot more than Mason.

I think the argument to play Mason is he never really has played in an advanced offense with strong coaching and he might be better in this environment. His whole career has been either under cave man offense with Tomlin or on an awful Titans team at that time.

I think Mason is a fine backup but his mobility sucks. If you had the 3 of the backups in a sprint I dont know who would come out first tbh. Its just that Mason is more of a deer in headlights QB when the pocket collapses. The other 2 (probably because they are young) have more of an urge to escape the pocket when it breaks down. That can be a plus or a minus but with Rudolph once that pocket collapses, I dont see him hanging in there and delivering a strike at the last second. Rudolph's version of staying in the pocket isn't always an attribute. If he doesnt have the time, he takes a sack. From that perspective, I dont think the system is gonna change for him too much.

Ah

Drew 40 time 4.85 at psu
Mason 4.90 at the combine
Will 4.59 at OSU

Surprisingly fast for Will. 4.59 at his pro day? Hmmmmm thats really fast if thats true

So Will would win the sprint race

No, but they might swap them for this game just to see different levels. It's not unheard of when you have two young QB like this
I think keeping Allar at QB4 is ironically an indication that they think he might be the future. Ben even as a first round pick was QB3 heading into.the preseason then was elevated when Batch got injured the night before the first preseason game. I think they want to bring Drew along methodically and keep him hungry. Howard they need to figure out if he replace Mason....but I tell you one thing

In the event that MM started Drew and he ripped it up against starters, Steel City would be going absolute ape sheet. Some even calling for Rodgers to sit

But it ain't happening

I might add….the reason for any success at all from Rodgers was Kenneth Gainwell last season. Rodgers threw at him 85 times last season as his safety net,and Ken did something with those 1-3 yard passes. I’d like to see some passes to our new RB guys to see what they can do.

Come on man......gainwell was a nice little asset but let's not pretend he was mccaffrey and AR had weapons galore. You had an OC that professed to have a love for feeding TEs but didnt feed them. You had DK, Austin, Wilson, Thielen, Miller, MVS and whatever for a receiving core. Did we have the worst receiving core in the league? One of the worst! We had a young line, with most of the pieces playing in an unnatural position. We didnt use the middle of the field. We had a FO that decided to trade away their best receiver. We drafted a back in the 3rd that never played. All of this but thank God for Gainwell allowing Aaron to have some success.

Did you ever contemplate that the only reason we may have made the playoffs despite front office and coaching incompetence was BECAUSE of Rodgers?
