Hell Yeah...Football is back

it is preseason so not getting too excited but there were some positives

way too many penalties, especially in the 1st half

The defense tackled well and coverage was prety good.

rudy was rudy, he did have a really good play but the reciever was knocked out of bounds but he broke a tackle and got the ball off. if he wasn't such a statue he could have walked in for a TD though.

Howard was ok, he made some decent passes and didn't force throws, he did have a couple of throws that would have been trouble against 1st team defenses

Allaar thre well. he was accurate on the slants and gave his guys the chance to get YAC and they did..granted most of the defenders he faced won't be in the league

have to cut down on the penalties

Let Howard and Allar play more, rudy is not that guy so may as well let him get o with his life's work

Roberts joined the team today so Super Bowl bound *******

Loved the game.

Now that ST coach was the biggest question mark of the offseason coaching changes IMO. Those penalties on STs didn’t lessen that concern…

me thoughts

Fautanu - errrrrr guy blew by him first drive, holding on TD, false start errrrrrr

Mason - can we get a 5th? I'll take a ham sandwich

Howard & Allar - nice throws. Allar has a lot of work to do but he just might be the future.

Middle of the field. What the f-ing f-ing F F What the F? What the frig???? i might need to watch the game again. I might have been dreaming

Samuel - and this guy is our 3rd best corner??? Move Ramsey to Saftey. Start Samuel in the slot

McCarthy - we shall see but was nice to see a new face over there and I really liked how he let Howard and Allar throw the god damn ball

Caleb - 3rd round pick Jesus H

Tonyan - hes making the team. Hes just so savy in finding the soft coverage. Dont see how you take the Indiana kid over him

Nichols - I like him as our 3rd back. He attacks and runs with confidence

Germie Mutha Fuggin Bernard - hes going to be good. I know I know Roman roman roman the camp darling. Bernard is a swiss knife. McCarthy likes versatility. Hes going to be a chain mover for us

Its so strange to see OUR head coach calling offensive plays. When has that ever happened? It can be a blessing or a curse right? I think it might be refreshing this year. I like that the head honcho is making the calls.

Don’t think it will be over him. I think Riley will be listed as a FB and both will make it.

I believe they did, on the touchdown run after the long pass to the tight end, who was ruled short of the goal line..
wow used a FB, used middle of the field, didnt throw a bubble screen, didnt lose a challenge, all the while the head coach had a play sheet in his hand the entire game and actually said important sheet into his headset. WTF is going on??

Yes!
It was very surreal, almost dreamlike…

you might be right. Did they bring him in as a fullback any play? I didnt notice
I thought I saw him in that role blocking. Was hard to tell where those reps were. But I think they like him as a versatile player. I saw his get open ability thought the one play wasn’t a good pass. Then he had the hook and catch play.

you know how an offense in the past would run some joe blow basic play against us and they would continue to run it over and over and we wouldn't adjust. It would be infuriating. On the other hand we would throw the bubble screen over and over gaining little but we would keep trying it. Ive always been told you run something until they stop it, Wed do the exact opposite. Wed keep running something that kept being stopped LMAO

To me the slant is so hard to defend if you have a good route runner and the throw is on.

They couldnt stop the slant so we f-ing kept hitting it over and over and over. Like YES THE COACH GETS IT!!!! OMG THE COACH UNDERSTANDS!!!

He apparently didn't chew gum either. I have to question the hire. In fact I'm not sure owner knows what the hell they're doing at this point. ;)

next week he will be chewing gum and there will be no penalties
No doubt about it, improvements must be implemented along the gum chewing lines immediately. What will the announcers have to talk about if the ST coach doesn't have a wad of gum big enough to stall out a 747 engine?

Initial thought: Probably the most enjoyable preseason game for me in the last 19 years. Bootlegs, slants, and play-action passes on 4th-and-1. Simple football things I enjoy watching, and haven't seen very much of for a while.

Other thoughts:
1) Obviously, they have to get all of the penalties/mistakes on special teams cleaned up. Luckily, it's early.
2) All three QBs performed well. Allar looked a bit trimmed down, more agile, and definitely showed off the big arm many of you are creaming about -- a very good debut for him.
3) The Steelers' third- and fourth-stringers are clearly better than Green Bay's. I did like it when they punched it in after the Packers started using timeouts late in a 12-point game. They want to prolong the game? Punish them.
4) Outside of Frazier, the starting offensive line looked a bit shaky, especially Fautanu. This is concerning. Cook looked overmatched.
5) They should have signed Asante Samuel to a longer deal. This guy is a premier cover corner when healthy.

I didn't get to watch the game I'm in Nashville for my daughter's bday. I was kinda following along before the concert started, but hopefully next game they let the young guys start. I'll probably miss part of the second game, my friend has season tickets and I have to pick his bowling team at our banquet. Of course this is the year I actually wanted to watch the preseason

I think we saw more slant passes completed than we have in the last 5 years combined, at least.

Since Howard and Allar both look pretty good, there is absolutely no reason to have Rudolph on the team slowing their development.

My favorite part about this season? I don't already know what's going to happen. Our Steelers might just plain suck this year, but there's hope for the future now. Our pre-determined ceiling is no longer "might be pretty decent, gonna get smoked if we make the playoffs"

McCarthy is a much better judge of talent and the ability to play a player in a position to succeed.

It’s nice I can actually understand what he says when he’s interviewed.

I think we see a much different attitude from the team this year.

Washington, Muuuth and Tonyan make a solid 3x TE group.

It should hell Rodgers as well.

They need to find a way to get Wetjen on the field more. He’s a firework

Let’s see Rodgers play 2 series next game. Then give Allar and Howard more time.

Totally different offense. Loved it. Didn't matter who the QB was. All executed well. Systems matter.

Defense looked a little different as well in a good way. Asante Samuel. Nice.
Who was the guy that celebrated his 2 sacks like he just won't the super bowl?
I think they kept 77 in so long to drum up some interest in a trade. Kinda hope not. You an never have to many tackles.
