Steelers Mt Rushmore & NFL Mt Rushmore

Well you could defintely have an offensive and defensive Mt Rushmore for the Steelers to spread the honors a bit.

It all depends on what you think Mt Rushmore is supposed to represent. That's gonna mean something different to various fans. I think in terms of where did they rank amongst their contemporaries at their position and where do they rank all time......the higher they are on those 2 lists the more deserving of being chiseled. But that's just how I define it....to each his own.

Thanks for explaining my post to me, would have never got that with out you .. !!!

Lots of great runners........and I loved Earl but he ain't Jim F-ing Brown, Payton, or Sanders - those 3 were generational. I also can't give an Honorable to Campbell over guys like Smith or Dickerson......I get mocked for my long winded posts as it is......I gotta stop somewhere =) with my list
I could easily take off Smith for Earl. I could also easily take off Woodson for Blount. It’s all opinion based.

Exactly.....the whole point of the post is to spur some debate about our Stillers during rhe off-season. Blount would be a fine player chisled into the mountaintop.

Don’t forget…….

Poster #4……..a poster who starts a thread. Makes rules. Gets uptight when people don’t agree with him/her. Gets uptight when the thread goes completely sideways into another subject ( my personal favorite) out of total boredom of a non original repetitive type of thread.

Theyre in camp genius.
Until they kick that ball off game 1 it's the off-season to me but appreciate you trying to enlighten me about anything in this world (not that can ever happen).

Wait JPJ is cornerback1 in your history of the Steelers. He isn't on your Rushmore?

I would go

1 Mean Joe... anchor of the franchise golden age and all time best Defensive player on a team stacked with them
2. Franco Harris... made the play that put the team on the map, also the best RB in team history and that is saying something
3. Rod Woodson, greatest DB and the best player of the 80's and 90's era
4. Ben Roethlisberger. Best QB in team history and best player of the 2000's and 2010 eras ( beats troy on positional importance)

Its impossible to leave off all the LBs, but I did, lol

you could pretty easy replace Brady with Barry Sanders. Sanders played his entire ten year career with the ****** lions, yet still made the pro bowl all ten years, NFL MVP, 4x rushing leader and about a hundred other accolades. add to the fact that if he played as long as Emmitt Smith he more than likely would have had over 20 thousand yards rushing.

If Sanders would have played for the Steelers or the cowboys, My God there is no telling how many yards or rings he may have had. put him on the steelers team for the 95 SB and we win that game going away because no way Neil is trowing those two picks. same goes for the Chargers in 94.

He was truly amazing. I remember that lions cowboys Thanksgiving game where Smith and Sanders just went off.....what a game

A Steeler Mt. Rushmore not possible if you include every era. Way too many great players that deserve to be there.

The best way would be to emulate the Presidential Mt. Rushmore. They represent the nation’s founding, expansion, development, and preservation.

“The Chief “ Art Rooney, Joe Greene, Mike Webster, Chuck Noll.

These four represent the founding of this great franchise, the face that represents a great defense, the face that represents a great offense, and the franchises development.

To suggest an NFL Mt. Rushmore is even more absurd.
I'm with you on 3 of the 4 for exactly the same reasoning,.
I swap out Webby for Franco.
The immaculate reception was the spark/defining moment/lucky bounce that changed decades of futility.

The Immaculate reception is his signature play, but we didn’t win much until he showed up.

We got Franco and we started winning.!

Not taking away anything from the rest of the great players at the time, but Franco seemed to be that one piece that made it all come together.

Obviously “Mean Joe” was a huge acquisition and like many others needed the Franco for the completed team piece.

PS. Thanks for all your great post(s) fedderone, appreciate yaz.!
