First off what a beautiful day for it! Latrobe was partially cloudy off and on with a slight chance of meatballs. Seems like the crowd behaved themselves today so no meatballs were seen not that they weren’t present.
Topped off the morning with our usual Eat N’ Park breakfast prior to hitting the field at St.Vincent’s College.
Upon arrival stopped at the Steelers store and bought ol girls dad a shirt and glazed around to see what else they had. Merchandise was a little pricey… the normal.
Walked to where we were going to hang & took out the blankets, double layered for some hill comfort.
I did see the up tempo I read about with some interesting drills. Including one giant medicine ball drill that initiated with a blocking sled.
The weather @ that time of day (11:15 AM) is easily not as hot as the Latrobe normal of past experiences. I want to say it was roughly two hours long…
Will Howard’s accuracy in one of the drills shined bright. There was a net with three pockets . If a QB was accurate he could drive the football into one of those three pockets within the net. Allar was hit and miss, when he missed .. yeah.
Rodgers is looking like he is ready for the season. I see no drop off in play. Which could come at any point in his last season, or not.
Frazier looks like a Mack truck an absolute beast. Saw him in one drill that the O-lineman went back in forth between two players before taking on a pass rush.
Later in some of the matchups during the live play it looked like Mad Max more than held his own. We might be seeing a sooner than later start there even if he doesn’t get the start out of the gates. But I wouldn’t rule it out as he doesn’t seem rattled whatsoever.
Tonyan seems to be a reliable even if not spectacular option for the QBs. His roster spot might not be as far fetched as I initially thought. As I wondered initially if there was a drop off there and if so how much.
Eli for how much of a fan favorite he is seems to be lost in the shuffle. Homer seems like a blocking and ST option and rightfully so from what I have seen and read so far. It will not be easy for Eli to make this roster. He is clearly behind Homer and Kaleb Johnson…I am thinking.
If I had to name the Oline weak link to who doesn’t last long as a starter? I have to go with Cook for a myriad of reasons. Between matchup results and rookie capability. Cook like Allar has been hot and cold to date.
Nothing I have seen makes me think that cornerback isn’t one of the team’s greatest strengths. They continue to represent well overall.
Team seemed relatively healthy with Porter Jr and Ramsey working their way back.
Still saw the usual jagoffs cutting in line upon entering the parking lot with a new twist upon departure. I saw some cars driving down the walkways-sidewalk . So no meatballs viewed but there was clearly some meatheads.
Overall an enjoyable experience
