Aaron Rodgers is Back for 2026

That's nice. How kind of you.

You're welcome.

Look, I've never had a problem with you, and I don't know why you're intent on starting one now.

Don't be thin-skinned. You said something dumb, I pointed out the dumbness.

You're welcome, again.

All I said was that if Rodgers gets hurt, I won't cry in my beer about it. This is not "completely off the rails," it's a simple truthful statement that has evidently gotten your panties in a huge bunch. I'm not going to apologize for somehow offending your frail sensitivity, so **** off. If he does get injured, feel free to cry in your beer. Or more likely, in your white zinfandel.

Says my panties are bunched, then goes off on a squealing session that would make an HOA Karen plug her ears.

No, the dumbest comment about the Steelers' quarterback situation is that they should have immediately cut Will Howard after signing Rodgers.

Okay, you made the second dumbest comment about the Steelers' QB situation.

Feel better?

Don't put words in my mouth. I believe that McCarthy likes both of his young quarterbacks. But clearly one is ahead of the other at this point. And, here's a little secret -- QB2 gets a lot more of an opportunity to develop than QB4 does.

Steelers are not going to keep Rudolph; McCarthy spent an early 3rd round pick on Allar and obviously expects to see him develop and in fact obviously thinks he has a chance to be the starting QB in the future, explaining why McCarthy freaking drafted him in the 3rd round; the QB depth chart on May 22 is not really that important but okay, Howard is ahead of Allar which makes sense since Howard has been here for a freaking year and Allar has not; finally, developing Allar means putting him lower on the depth chart and working with him, not putting him in real games.

Good heavens, I had presumed all of the foregoing was self-evident.

Also pecking order really isn’t a future indicator. As it is only a present here and now indicator. Many things can change between present time and next years training camp.

Those two could very well be competing next year for the start. Orrr they look at them both closely and come away with neither looks like the long term option.

Absolutely. Reasonable to conclude that McCarthy prefers Allar over Howard long-term since he already had Howard on the roster and spent a pretty high pick on Allar. But since neither is a 1st round player, they are not going to be handed opportunities.

I never thanked you. No need to tell me that I'm welcome. And I didn't say anything dumb. Trying to explain the simplicity of my comment to you in a few sentences is not a "squealing session." And no, it doesn't make me feel any better that you, with your stupid holier-than-thou approach, can't seem to comprehend what I've said.

Maybe if I'd said that I hoped Rodgers' plane would crash on the way to training camp, you'd have something to cry about. Except I didn't. And I wouldn't.

What part of "I believe that McCarthy likes both of his young quarterbacks" confuses you? I'll try to help.

Wow, things can change in the next year-plus? Thanks for clearing that up.

Let me ask you a simple question: If you were an NFL quarterback, would you rather be listed as QB2 or QB4 on the current depth chart?

I would only care about earning playing time and probably maintaining a paycheck. A listing would do nothing for me as it is the NFL ( not for long).

As of May, where QB2 has yet to take an NFL snap, and QB 3 is Mason Rudolph? Would not care much (any).

You're welcome.

Ben Roethlisberger is a little concerned about the re-building of Drew Allar.

A good read, some concerns about the MM school of QBs but he also is complementary to Coach McCarthy.

Do you think it's significant for Howard to find himself listed in front of Rudolph after being behind him last season? I certainly do.

You answered the wrong question, but thanks for that fascinating input. As I just mentioned above, Howard moving ahead of Rudolph on the depth chart would seem to be of some importance.

It is significant from a look see perspective. They are telling him you are going to get some looks. Now show us what you got.

How the pendulum swings will depend on his training camp/preseason play. Sink or swim with Rudy’s roster spot on the line.

So say it didn’t change going into camp. That could have meant we will give you an opportunity but we just think little of you.

Either or could have still ended with the same outcome. Still you like him to know here is your opportunity with some encouragement.

From the reports I read he has looked good. The guy is a hard worker by all reports. I like his odds of beating out Rudy. Not that that in itself is a high task.

When making predictions I try to think like the Steelers.
WWTSD?
Of the four QB's on the roster I think A-Aron is the best.
Since A-Aron is 43 years old I think they keep Rudolph as an experienced backup. Rudy is what he is, which is an adequate #2.
I think Allar has a higher ceiling than Howard. Both are essentially rookies since Howard missed half of last season with an injury.
Unless one of those guys really lights it up in preseason, they're not going to have two rookies backing up 43 year-old A-Aron.
Mason stays and Allar or Howard get cut, traded, or PS.
Of course this is all out the window if one of them gets injured in preseason.

I disagree Ron.

AAron is here for one thing.. winning it all. They think he still can with the improved cast.

Besides that, their other task is to find the next franchise, and develop the two young guys.

Not sure im confusing what i think they should do,, with what they will do though.

I do think they keep all four till mid camp or late. Unless Allar shats the bed. THEN they keep Rudolph, if theyre sure Allar isnt future franchise material.

No way are they going to figure out Allar this season. I think this is his sit that arse down year and relook next training camp while they add to the room…

McCarthy drafted Allar in round 3, he's not going anywhere, unless he has a phantom injury and is on the IR or something, I think Allar is a sure thing to be here one way or another. You don't dump a 3rd round pick, especially a QB after one preseason.

Yeah.... he's pretty much the sure thing as #3. I doubt he slides thru waivers to get on the practice squad.

I wonder if Howard could make it thru waivers. He might be PS eligible.

I also wonder if Rudolph has any value as a veteran backup. Maybe some team needs a little bit of depth in their QB room and would throw us a 6th or 7th round pick for him before roster cuts.
