Anyone have a spare room for the Draft?

I retired a few years ago and have thought about working some again. Thought maybe a TSA Agent but I like getting paid for working.
All kidding aside, I do hope all goes well over those three days. I just hope there’s no destruction or violence. Police will have their hands full!

Stay home, save your money and your sanity.
Pittsburgh is too small of a city and its horrible highway system will have difficulty accommodating 500,000 additional visitors.
That area where the stadium is located is very condensed and even hard to manauever after Steeler home games. Been over there many times attending games when coming to Pittsburgh and am familiar with it.
That city is not constructed to handle that many people and will be a mess.
Stay home and watch it in the comfort of your homes.
Sanity? way too late to save that. Not sure it was ever there to save.

Large gatherings are something I will be avoiding for some time, unfortunately ........... hope all goes well with the draft and the Steeler's picks

When I retire, I'm going to stay home and be a menace to the neighborhood.
Loud music, drunken antics and n'at.

Again, I’ll watch from the comfort of my house.
500,000 plus over three days is a hell of lot of people for that city.
It’s not NY, LA, Chicago, or even Detroit, but a much smaller city and that’s lot of folks hitting that city over three days.
Hopefully all goes well but if I still lived there I still wouldn’t go to that area for a draft.
It really isn't. You're talking under 170,000 per day. Pittsburgh used to have 675,000 residents. Heck, they've claimed 650,000 fans for the Penguins Stanley Cup Parade in 2017 (no doubt extremely inflated) and yet somehow the city is still standing.

Not for me that day I retire no more working for the man (or woman)!

Other than the honey do lists.😅 And whatever projects I take on… but all by choice.

Sleep in, enjoy the great outdoors.

Life is good!

Green Bay has a population just over 100k and hosted 600k for the draft last year, it never felt overwhelming or overcrowded. It's not like everyone huddles around the stage.

Andddd what isn’t talked about enough is there just isn’t one location. Plus I doubt the majority go for the entire 3 day duration:

So you have :

Multiple locations with various events
Nearby places to eat and spend money

So it doesn’t have to be condensed into one area.

“The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, from April 23–25, 2026, with the main Draft Theater and Stage located on the North Shore near Acrisure Stadium. The free, interactive NFL Draft Experience will be centered across the river at Point State Park, connecting the two sides with the Roberto Clemente Bridge. [1, 2]
Key Details for the 2026 NFL Draft:
  • Main Stage Location: North Shore (outside Acrisure Stadium), specifically utilizing the Great Lawn and surrounding areas.
    • Draft Experience Locations: Point State Park, Gateway Center, and the North Shore.
    • Fan Access: The event is free, but fans should download the NFL OnePass app for entry.
    • Key Landmarks: The Roberto Clemente Bridge will be pedestrian-only, connecting the Draft Theater and Point State Park.
    • Duration: Three days, spanning April 23 to April 25, 2026.”

So,…………….. whats changed….?

I think the residents count now is down around 200- 250 K, it’s really decreased in population size.
Pittsburgh is more of a second tier city and in no way can compare to NY, Chicago, LA, Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Atlanta.
It’s done a nice job of revitalizing and rebuilding over the years but they simply don’t have the area to grow and expand.
Plus the northern cities over the years have seen a mass migration to the southern cities.
Hopefully this influx of people, many from other cities don’t get destructive and respect the city and its citizens. I hope so!

Hay Slash, trust me brother, I’m living the dream!
I love sleeping in after years of having to travel from city to city, staying in hotel rooms, getting up at 5:30 every morning, eating out at restaurants every night.
**** no I don’t miss that! I love being retired!
Now I do whatever I want when I want. I think after 50 years of working I earned it.
That my friend is what the American dream is all about. Now it’s time to kick back! 😁

This is the city that made a 911 airline stand.

It isn’t going to tolerate that type of behavior.

I’ll be there one day!

Damn right that is the dream.

I have a little over 4 years (and one month and 6 days)

Not that I am counting

😅

You’ll get there! That time will fly by, trust me.
Only advice I can give and I’m sure you’re already on board with this, be as prepared as possible financially.
I had a plan and it was have everything paid off….
House- check, New SUV- check, Credit Cards-check.
Didn’t want anything hanging over my head when I retired. Nada!
And have stuff to do… Golf, hunting, fishing, bike riding, whatever you like to do. Join the gym too, that’s good for you to stay active. Must stay active!

In all the years that the draft has been traveling to different cities, I don't think there's been even the slightest indication anything like this would happen. It's going to be an awesome event and I think anyone going will have a great time.

Take plenty of pics and post on our site here. I’d enjoy seeing the shots of the area. That would be cool!

I seem to remember 4 innocent people being shot in order to cover up another shooting victim in Jack Reacher ...... just sayin
