WTF are we doing?

Agree. Simpson in Round 2.

If they miss Simpson, Beck or Nussmeier with a roughy being Klubnik.

Got a weird feeling a QB needy team pulls the trigger on Simpson by trading up to 20.

He appears to be QB2 in this draft, highly doubt he makes it the second round…pick 53 seems even more unlikely.

Just a hunch but in a QB driven league it would be shocking to me if he makes it out of the first round.

31 teams in the league realize the Steelers NEED a QB so the move to slot 20 to grab Ty just seems predictable if GMs have him as QB2 on their boards…it only takes 1 team.

I know his issues with age and agility at this point, but even at his age, how many QBs in the league throw it as well as he does?

Way too ez to move him off his spot
Way too ez to scare him
His deep ball which used to be a strength is fading

No mobility is a huge limiting factor that puts his ceiling at a C no matter how well he throws it or can read what is happening.

At some point as a fan I hope for more than a C grade QB in a QB driven league…a C QB on the downside no less.

There were people here that wanted a wet noodle armed Ben to come back...let's keep it real. Meanwhile GOAT can still make every throw at a ridiculous level of accuracy.
If Ben would sign today....I would take him over AR. 🤔

Said this in the free agency thread as well. I feel like they could do something as crazy as trading a **** ton of picks and getting Mendoza. Maybe it is some bad mushrooms but i got a weird feeling they will do something to make a big splash in the Da Burgh the night of the draft.

Mendoza is who you want. No doubt.

At least he has guts!

Last seen Rodgers throwing the ball on the ground anticipating contact as his scared old azz was bracing for the fall…
You forget he played injured and wanted to come back in to a game he got injured in. I mean it's nothing like Ben's broken toes...lol, but give GOAT credit.

You are right about what you wrote there, I acknowledge that. But when he has some time to get his feet set and throw, he is still very good. There are a lot of starting QBs in the NFL who can have perfect conditions and still don't put the ball where it is supposed to be.

I certainly like to see a good, young QB, too.

Seriously though. It was tough watching your "GOAT" throwing the ball away as much as he did to avoid a hit. I am not blaming him. Maybe it simply is time to move onto to the next chapter of life.

I'm sure of what I was watching...and it wasn't a stat line.
Yes, of course. Condemn stats when they refute your argument.

If you're sure that you watched Rodgers making every NFL throw with "ridiculous" accuracy, then you're as blind as a ******* bat.

Here's how blind I am

It's weird- unlike many, the closer the draft gets, the more FA signings we make, the more I think that Ty Simpson is THE pick at #21, or trade up/down into the top of Round 2 to get him.

There is a need on the left side of the OL, but most other spots are set. There are 12 draft picks to play with. Taking a chance on Simpson, with Rodgers coming back, doesn't force him into starting- which is the greater worry. There's very little chance the franchise is 'comfortable' with Howard. They might like him, sure. But comfortable? And this theory 'the QB class is better next year' is consistently proven wrong every year.

If the draft 'gurus' like Chase Daniel, McShay etc all say Simpson has elite traits- and you have a "QB Coach" in McCarthy who has a history of letting young QB's learn from vets....I think it all fits.

You could take Simpson at #21, have him on a 'cheap' deal for 4-5 years, and spend a 2nd & 3 3rds on LT, LG, ILB & WR who could all contribute this season.

If the Steelers go .500 in 2026, they are not getting a good look at the top QB's next draft either. There is a very genuine shot at taking the 2nd best QB in this draft class.
I want no part of Simpson. None. I would prefer Allar or some other later round guy.

Doesn’t fit with the mumbo jumbo they are throwing out this year. Win now win now. You don’t want to reach on a 1st round QB when you will arguably have greater needs this season. (WR, FS,G)

Did not forget…

Also, last seen was him fearing contact and throwing the ball on the ground in a playoff game cuz he was scared to get hit.

I’m not gonna say he’s some tough guy because his fragile old hand cracked with a wee lil bit of contact and his ego had him not wanting to miss a game so he further hamstrung the offense by having to go pistol (unable to go under center), throwing more monkey wrenches into the “one thousand one… **** chuck it offense”

His ceiling is mid and lowering

Imho fans should DEMAND better

GOAT is a whole other debate
I’ll give him top 10

So you don't remember an inaccurate throws and to prove it you're presenting his highlight reel?

We'd have 9 first round QBs if only highlight reel scouting was done.
I use it to show his accuracy while on the move and his ability to accurately deliver the ball while not being set with the flick of a wrist. We dont have a QB currently who can come close to his abilities.Of course he also had bad throws...Who wouldn't behind the O-line we had.

I remember seeing the same behavior from Ben quite a few years ago against the Eagles...and Ben was in his prime. That will happen to anyone who gets hit enough times. Ben had the ability to escape though, but not that day. That Philly D was savage and didn't give him any escape lanes..he just crumbled and couldn't do anything. Human nature.

I'm fine with the way the off season is shaping up. Again, I don't want ANY quarterback change this year. I just hope they follow through with my thinking and not force picking one in the draft.

Project 2027!!!

Let's go into the season with Rogers/Rudolph/Howard or any combination of those guys. You want to draft someone, make it a value pick only (i.e. someone falls in the draft). Let's screw up this year either by injury or Howard/Rudolph really aren't that good and then we are all set to draft a franchise guy in a GOOD QB class in 2027. And in the meantime all those top-100 picks we select in this draft are making this roster solid.

I still think there's potential to find a trade partner for Watt if we eat a little of his money.

I'm thinking about 2027 resources. I'm thinking about really scrutanizing the 2027 QB class.

But so far so good. No Willis. No Murray. Those aren't the answer.

Derek Carr is available.....and reports claim his phone isn't ringing. Sounds pretty cheap now. Rooney will call Kahn and tell him vet min.

What we are hearing about the 2027 QB class is exactly what we heard about the 2026 QB class. Anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the names they're talking about for next year are the same guys that weren't good enough to enter the draft this year. We'll be very lucky if there are 3-4 first-round prospects in this group, with the latter 1-2 having question marks.

I think Manning, Saying and Moore are all better than Mendoza.
