Calvin Austin gone.

I thought he would be good for 4-8 between punt returns & receiving touchdowns a year with that kind of speed. I just don’t understand it.

He was so ineffective as a plant returner too.

72 career returns for 639 yards. Only one score…

I don’t know maybe it looks easier from where I’m at, but I just wish he would’ve just grabbed the ball and gone, but he called way too many fair catches and he didn’t hit the hole. Or, he would run sideways.

He had plenty of opportunities and he just didn’t hit the home runs like someone with that speed should have.

He's fast, not quick. Doesn't have that shifty change of direction needed to be a good returner. From all accounts a really nice guy, but not a player we needed to keep. Wilson has the same speed in a bigger body with a little more shifty

I don't think he had the quick lateral movement to avoid the initial guy on punts, more straight line speed than elusivenes.

Another draft pick not making a second contract.

The article says he was one of only two players from the 2022 draft to play out their contract. By my reckoning he was the only one. As far as I can tell the second 2022 draft pick still on the roster was De Marvin Leal and he was waived before the 2025 season and brought back as on the practice squad. Leal therefore didn't playout his rookie contract, as it was terminated and he was brought back on a (lesser) practice squad contract.
