Yep, watched Aaron Rodgers on Pat McAfee show yesterday and he said no timetable for his decision.
Said that he has had communication with Omar and Mike but no date has been given for him to provide an answer.
What the hell are we doing here? This is exactly what I’m talking about when I show frustration with this organization.
We’re again going to play games with this guy and appear desperate like last year. I simply do not know why the organization cannot give him a deadline prior to free agency. It just really makes me continue to question the competency of this organization. Chasing a has been 42 year old washed up QB that looked much older in his last outing is crazy.
They don’t need Rodgers to go 10-7 or 9-8 again. They’ve shown just how capable they are of accomplishing that feat.

I think the Steelers are going to make FA and draft decisions based on who is there and able to sign. Rodgers will be a decision if both FA & draft doesn’t produce the outcome they seem deem-able.

I’m sure there is a $$$$$ number assigned to Rodgers and they will use that as a start of a budget number.

Unless there is a handshake agreement in place under the table, it’s time to move on. Either you want to play or you don’t…

If there is some wink, wink agreement in place-the question is why? Rodgers just being a weirdo who want his “personal reflection time”?? and wants to skip off season work when MM is installing his system to sit on the beach….

I think it’s time to be done with this, if you can’t give an answer to MM, the coach he is probably closest to in the world who is probably only going to coach here 3-5 years due to MM’s age, before free agency, it’s time to be done with him

He also said he’s a free agent! What the hell does that mean? So if the Vikings come calling he’s gone I assume.
Man I think this is bad business on the part of the organization. Wouldn’t you think they would want a guy that was 100% in rather than a guy that appears to be not all in?
Seriously, this is not Aaron Rodgers of 10 years ago or even 5 years ago.
I really expected the organization to put a timetable of a week before free agency begins.
That way they can maneuver around free agency of bringing in a veteran QB or knowing there is no need with Rodgers’ committed.
This is totally goofy logic to me.

I just don’t want it to drag on.. Monday they should be seeking out a QB .

I take all this win a grain of salt. I'm sure Rodgers and the organization have a good idea of what is going to happen. I am leaning toward Rodgers coming back because I think he would have announced his retirement already if not I'm not saying i want him to come back, just my feeling that he will be back. It wouldn't hurt to have Howard sit for another year unless he looks phenomenal in preseason. I would also rather have Rodgers back vs reaching for a QB in the draft.

Gotta move on sooner or later. Might as well be now. Thank AR for his services then show him the door. Ben started after watching Tommy Gun for 2 games?? Howard watched Rodgers for a whole season. Holy hell, let's go. Keep MR as a mentor. Maybe try Ben or somebody as part-time QB coach to review film/read Ds/work on mechanics, etc.

I think they are leaving the door open for Aaron, but he's not the only door they've opened.

He cant be all in with no contract and no contract offers. He is available to be signed by anyone

Let him sign elsewhere.

I highly doubt he is a high sought after FA QB.

He said he has no offer from the Steelers..
He said he’s been in touch with Omar and McCarthy.

I’d strongly suspect it’s him not the Steelers dragging their feet based on the past

Im pretty sure if Rodgers wanted an offer he’d have it

we playing this game?

I suspect its the steelers dragging their feet, based on him not having an offer.

Im pretty sure if the steelers wanted to give him an offer they would have.

Which is more likely:

Rodgers hasn’t decided if he wants to play for the Steelers or anyone else next year and the Steelers are waiting on him to decide

Or

The Steelers who have film on Rodgers and a head coach who knows him better than probably anyone….still don’t know a few days before free agency starts if they want Rodgers back or not and Rodgers is waiting on them to decide

Based on how things went down last off season I know what my guess is. Rodgers has more money than he can ever spend and can afford to wait, or retire…the Steelers have a season coming and need someone at QB

OR steelers are waiting to see if so and so comes available and at what cost before making their decision next week,, before mini camp / rookie camp ayuasca camp.. or anything else.

The Steelers WILL sign a vet FA, it's just a matter of who. Two of the best FA's are A-Aron and Joe Flacco (wouldn't that be fun?).
If we sign Flacco at least he can't kick our *** playing for someone else.
I suspect he knows he's coming back and the Steelers and Big Mac know he's coming back.
I call it 80/20 that A-Aron is back and used properly in black & gold. Until Shades' annual mid-late season swoon, A-Aron's numbers weren't bad.

I just keep reminding the nfl panelists here that in his final snaps he threw a pick 6 and fumbled for a scoop and score. He gave up 14 points. Yea.....we want that guy.

Even if those were TD's for us, he's still going to turn 43 this season and has no chance at being our future, so there is no reason or point having him be our starting QB next season. He gets rid of the ball in 2 seconds, that's counter productive for our Olinemen and WR's.
I have no idea why we're even entertaining this, Kahn or McCarthy or Rooney should've already come out and said we are moving on, it's going on 6 seasons and we're not any closer to having the next guy than we were when the last guy (Ben) retired.

They have already agreed on his participation and also to set $$ terms on FA QB signings.

I get what you're saying but this year isn't a good draft for QB's and next year is supposed to be much better.
This season will be a maintenance year because the Steelers don't ever tank, just get through the year with 9 or 10 wins with A-Aron, and draft the next franchise QB in 2027.
