Democrat Supporters: Persuade Me

You say they’re smart, but you admit you don’t know their policies. Calling them smart implies you believe they use knowledge effectively to make good decisions, but you can’t really judge that without knowing what their decisions or policies actually are. Quite the dichotomy there, buddy.
Uh huh.

I'm genuinely interested. In this thread please explain to me who exactly you support as our next president and why. Only one rule...you cannot mention Trump or explain why this candidate is better than Trump or talk in any way about how awful Trump is. (Trump after all, is not running next time).

Tell me what your candidate will do, what policies they support, what their accomplishments are and why they will be great for the country, aside from "They're not Trump".

Not single ******* one of those countries in your 15 list is anything other than Capitalist. You are a ******* imbecile. That article is even more imbecilic. My favorite Poly Sci prof (who was very liberal) would laughed you out of class. JFC where do you get this malarky? This article doesn't know the ******* difference between social programs and socialism. Neither do you or many others on either side for that matter. The word social doesn't equate to Socialism. None of these Countries have nationalized industry. True Democratic Socialists have that as an end goal. Mamdani wants to seize the means of production he is a Socialist.

Cubans love it so much that they’re willing to drown or get eaten by sharks to come here. Flog is a tard.

Still nothing of substance, I'm shocked I say shocked.
Policies and accomplishments are what is being asked for and all we're getting is tingling down someone's leg.

Living here, I doubt Kelly would carry Arizona.

So the U.S. government could socialize health care, post-secondary education, housing, natural resources, mandate 30 hour work weeks and 5 months paid parental leave and you’d consider that capitalistic?

It depends on how and why they did these things. If they nationalized those things and took complete governmental control of them and the associated industries that would be Socialism. Otherwise, it would simply be overregulation. These can be steps towards socialism but in and of themselves are not Socialism.

I literally just described various aspects of the socialist democracies you claim don’t exist.

So which of your preferred candidates will be running on reducing the deficit? And how will they do that with the massive spending increases on social programs they all support?
Plus the money laundering of our taxes to make themselves multi millionaires.

Here’s a policy!

That’s not the question that was asked.

I’ll just go ahead and say what you consider good policies to avoid putting you on the spot.

Pete Buttigieg, as a prominent LGBTQ+ figure in US politics, supports robust protections for gay and transgender individuals, including passing the
Equality Act, protecting transgender military service, and advocating for transgender visibility. He favors strengthening federal anti-discrimination laws and supports access to gender-affirming care for transgender inmates.

Gemini calls you a tard, too.

The debate on the Steeler Nation Forum highlights a common point of confusion: the line between "socialism" and "social democracy" (often referred to as socialist democracy).
While they sound similar, they differ significantly in how they treat private property and the market.

1. Socialism

In its traditional sense, socialism is an economic and political system where the means of production (factories, land, and large businesses) are owned or controlled by the community or the state.
  • Goal: To eliminate the "capitalist" class and ensure that the wealth generated by labor is distributed more equally.
  • Ownership: Private property in the form of industry is largely abolished or nationalized.
  • Market: The government often plays a direct role in planning the economy rather than relying on market competition.

2. Social Democracy (Socialist Democracy)

This is the model used by many successful European nations (like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark) mentioned in the forum discussion. These countries are capitalist, not socialist.
  • Goal: To provide a strong "social safety net" within a competitive market economy.
  • Ownership: Most businesses are privately owned. People can start companies, own property, and build wealth.
  • Market: It relies on a free-market economy but uses high taxation and government regulation to fund public services like healthcare, education, and parental leave.

Comparison at a Glance

FeatureSocialismSocial Democracy
EconomyPublic or state ownership.Capitalist/Market-based.
Private PropertyLimited or abolished for industry.Protected and encouraged.
Social ServicesProvided by the state.Provided by the state, funded by taxes.
GoalReplace capitalism.Reform capitalism to be "fairer."
Key Distinction: As noted by some users in the thread, the "Nordic Model" is essentially Capitalism with a safety net. True socialism involves the government "seizing the means of production," which is not how modern social democracies operate.

at least Smooth Brain doesnt consider AOC smart. Sharp as a marble, she is.

Who cares and why? How many are there? Not something that should keep anyone awake at night.
