Moving forward with McCarthy

If Howard was coming out this year, where would he be drafted?
Depends on if he stunk it up in the throwing drills.

Have to say I dunno, what were you thinking?

After the initial shock, not sure what I really expected as a hire. I will say he has passion and wanted the job even knowing this team had plenty of holes upmost QB. We all wanted change we all wanted Tomlin time gone. You have to admit Rooney did that. When does anyone even an old guy as myself seen an offensive head coach in Pittsburgh. We all wanted more scoring we all wanted a different looking offense. Mccarthy has brought that. QB is the big question. His press conference he was not going to run anyone down including Rogers. He did say receivers need to be able to play different positions he did mention a mobile QB. He runs a version of west coast offense when we have seen anything thought of that in Steeler land.
We all was expecting some young hot shot mention from the west coast yet none of them have taken a job or really been interviewed more than once. He is our coach and deserve a wait and see from us. We know tis following year is not going to be great way to many needs in this team. If we see some new looks on defense as well as offense that would be great. I have been around long enough when they hired Noll all said who, when Cower hired what, Tomin what are we doing all thought the hire was done. I myself cannot see another coach being here as long as the past and we all questioned Rooney, keeping Tomlin as long as he did.

I found this on the NFL.com profile for Howard: "Unless he proves he can play chess against NFL defenses, he might not have enough in the tool box to become more than an average backup."

Hopefully he learned some stuff from the wily veteran Rodgers.

He's in the same situation in LA.
Not to argue... LA is a team with a good offense and a good QB who has gone deep in playoffs. Pittsburgh is unknown at QB with crappy offense and doesnt win in playoffs. I think those circumstances are different. Yes head coach is calling plays in both scenerios.

There were draft analysts that thought Sanders was a top-10 pick, others undraftable. Apparently this is one that believed in him.

Or Kirk Cousins. I don't think Deuce will let them go with Howard or Willis. Too young and not enough experience.
Deuce wants to keep that non-losing streak going as much as Shades did.
Heck with developing players, my legacy will be non-losing seasons.

You could easily be right Ron.

I think Art 2 is short term at this time. I can easily see him stepping down 3 years or less, 5 at the most (highly doubtful he makes 5).

Ahead of Kenny Pickett if he were coming out this year.

But never a losing season under his leadership.

Well, signs point to Rodgers being Qb1 next year according to Kaboly.
We will get a vet free agent. A-Aron is probably best vet free agent available. Rudy ain't starting. Howard ain't starting. A rookie ain't starting.

We will likely go that route
Please, please, please retire Aaron
I can’t take another wasted year which is what he would be

The Steelers have to start building a foundation for a competitive SB contender. You don’t build a house on a ****** old cracked up foundation (aka Geriatric Rodgers).

He sets back the growth a year cuz the entire offense runs within 5 yards of the LOS and all throws must come out in 1.25 seconds so we don’t get the old fella a broken hip. Can’t build a foundation on him and after a wasted decade another wasted year is just a slap in the face.

The tomlin has set this team back 5+ years with the geriatric hires.

McCarthy hopefully goes in a different direction, regardless of Rodgers and his familiarity.

I actually hope aaa-ron is tired and don’t want to play any more, but is talked into participating in a #2 role with player / QB / offensive input coaching title. A true player / coach designation.

Ultimately Will or draft pick as starter. Rudy gone.

As I pointed out in another thread.....In the past few minutes of actual football play with Roger's at the helm, he fumbled resulting in scoop and score. Followed by a pick 6.

Anyone want Roger's back? I don't.

ONLY if in a #2 or less playing role. A player / coach designation would be ideal.
