Steelers hiring McCarthy

And you think that will do what for the team?

Mark it down this team will hover around the same bullshit while that man is
I think this is a stop gap hire to make the most of the current QB situation and knowing he will not be a 10yr hire. Mike could have had the best ideas about developing Will Howard. Im going to try to reamin optimistic. He had three 12 win seasons under the meddling Jerry leadership and he hired competent assistants there too

Please. He needed to go about 10 years ago, unless you enjoy mediocrity and getting your head caved in during the playoffs. I never gave two ***** about anything other than him building a champion.
Based on today's decision - I'd rethink who the real mediocre king was.

Let's wait until Coach Tomlin writes his biography...methinks he was a puppet now and that's why he finally left.

Who cares. Today is a terrible day...

Well, hopefully he hires a great staff. It will be interesting to see who the DC&OC will be. The position coaches.
This is why they are probably bringing him in. Those are things he is decent at, not top tier by any means Brian Schottenheimer is probably the standout in his coaching tree with not a lot of branches to show. Remember Tomlin had nothing to show...

Maybe they figure an older guy, lots of connections...he could bring in a good staff with his possible replacement in that bunch. I mean how much longer does he plan to coach?

I still would have gone younger and offensive guy, at least McCarthy is an offensive guy.

I still think people are overreacting here. People are saying there were better options but nobody actually knows that. McCarthy has proven to be a winning football coach and a great developer of quarterbacks. I’m very interested in seeing how the offense looks next year. I think it will be night and day.

Admittedly Jerry has been a much better GM then what the Steelers have had the last 10 years also. We got a guy here that cant even draft a WR and gave away a 2nd team ALL Pro for basically nothing to ironically the meddling leadership you're talking about. If you compare Jerry's GM work the last 10 years its not even close compared to what the Steelers have done.

Which, if any, staff members should McCarthy keep? I bolded who I'd consider.

OC - Arthur Smith
QB - Tom Arth
RB - Eddie Faulkner
WR - Zach Azzanni
TE - Alfredo Roberts
OL - Pat Meyer
Assistant OL - Isaac Williams
Offensive Assistant - Matt Baker, Mateo Kambui

DC - Teryl Austin
DL - Karl Dunbar
OLB - Denzel Martin

ILB - Scott McCurley
DB - Gerald Alexander
Assistant DB - Anthony Midget
Def QC - Jason Brooks
QC - Luke Smith

S&C - I clean house in this area.
Coach Dunbar. Fire everyone else.

I was thinking Art II would screw this up. He doesn't care about winning championships....just finish .500 or better and keep butts in the seats. Don't rock the boat. Stay the course. Be conservative. Take no risks. Tomlin is gone, now the Duece needs to go or nothing will change.

I’m wondering if he would bring in Frank Cignetti Jr as his OC. I’m going to be patient and wait to see who he brings in. I’m also reading that they think the Steelers are going after Ty Simpson. I’m not sure of this.

They're both two peas in one pod. I do believe the owner is totally content with what he has in the trophy case and if the team stays in the middle of the pack forever.

Me personally I would always treat it like we have never won a thing in the past. When you're content with what you've already accomplished it's over.

Let's see who he hires as OC&DC. If he is a good coach,he will hire guys who could take his job. Maybe we can still snag some top tier supporting coaches who don't get HC gigs.

Will Rooney fork up the money to pay a great supporting staff?

At worst we have a really bad season and we can finally take a shot at a franchise qb. I don't think that's the idea in Ronney's head, which is to carry on things exactly how they've been.

I wonder how long it will be before the next of kin takes over in that family?

On the bright side, McCarthy is miles better than Tomlin. Hey @bermudasteel even with McCarthy we have more of a chance of doing something. That’s how putrid your boy was. 🤣💩. Looking forward to next year and beyond.

There is a reason the Cowboys haven't even reached an NFC title game in 30 years. Jerry is the common factor.

FIVE YEARS!?!?!?!

Art II ~= Dan Snyder. @bermudasteel hinted at it. Intriguing idea and has somewhat a fit, though not perfect. 5-year contract for Mike, so he's not going anywhere for awhile.

Yep, Tomlin set us way back. We can finally move forward. Offensive players flat didnt want to play in a Tomlin offense.

Art Rooney ll announces press conference to introduce Mike McCarthy at 7 pm Sunday out side Acrisure Stadium in blizzard conditions during NFC championship game.

PS, DEI has nothing to do with skin color. It means hiring someone that is not qualified. My 1st choice for our new coach was Marcus Freeman so riddle me that with your racist accusations you POS.
Uhuh nobody wants to talk about Tomlin being a DEI. If it isn’t your intention why do you keep bringing it up? Find something else to talk about twatwaffle.

Well they stayed 100% close to home getting a Pittsburgh native. He knows 100% what the standard is. He watched it and rooted for it as a young man.

I'm looking for positives here. I don't know why they didn't wait to interview more people.

I'm sure we will get that news soon enough.
