I thought we were going to interview the Rams guys, so with Kubiak not getting another interview, McCarthy was my third choice. He's an offensive coach who basically is there with Tomlin, Harbaugh, Payton, etc. No worries with him being here for 15+ seasons.

He is a good coach and is still young enough to coach for 10+ years.

I just dont know, as it really shatters the mold the Steelers had historically set.

Among the candidates, he might very well have been the best one to develop a QB.

One can point to Scheelhaase, but his experience is obviously dwarfed by McCarthy's, and maybe the Steelers felt he was still too green to lead an NFL locker room.
