Tomlin stepping down

Most of the Steelers FB groups are loaded with members of the Tomlin Fan Club. Except for the two Fire Mike Tomlin groups I belong to, where we're having a party tonight.

Well, it's also been NINETEEN years. I mean, just let that sink in. The first Iphone hadn't been released yet when he was hired (he was hired Jan 07, first iphone was June 07). A lot of these reporters are just realizing that they've never experienced a Steelers head coaching search. So as much as it was time, and a lot of us are relieved with the news, it can also be sad as it is an end of an era, a very long era.

The real question is

Are they still gonna pay Mike for next year?
Obviously his pay hasn’t been tied to coaching for years.

Maybe Art will give him next year’s pay as a severance package, he’s paying DK unnecessarily…paid Tuitt

The Steelers and Ravens are the non-typical coaching vacancies and should solicit a lot of demand. These are not situations like the Raiders, Jets, Giants, Cardinals coming off terrible seasons with terrible teams. The Ravens started the year as one of the Super Bowl favorites. The Steelers are one of the NFL's most storied franchises.

If the Steelers can get the right coaches in place, a couple of positions figured out, they are not that far off with the talent already on the team. I don't think they need to blow anything up to go for it next year if they can hit in free agency, the draft and the coach.

I would be fine if Rodgers returns for one more year, but I doubt it happens. If he doesn't retire, I'm thinking he's a Viking next year unless our new coach can win him over with his vision for next year. Rodgers won't stick around for a rebuild. I'm fine if he doesn't come back if the team has a better option and OC lined up.

Awww, don’t cry…you’ll always have the memories of 9 straight years without a playoff win and Ben bailing Tomlin out in all those 4th quarter comeback wins to pad his win/loss record to comfort you

It's not the Super Bowl loss that bugs me, it's the last 9 seasons without a single playoff win. The Browns have more playoff wins than the Steelers over that timespan.

He always seemed like a good guy, so I wish him well. However, I am celebrating the change since it was needed.
 
Dream scenario would be that whoever is hired goes to the playoffs next year and wins.. that would shut every Tomlin apologist up and everyone at ESPN would say but yeah, that’s Tomlin’s players lol.

Im very much excited and looking forward to the regime change, but thats not going to stop me from continuing to mock people like you when the getting is still good .. I do it simply because I like to, not in order defend Tomlin.

This is 10 years too late. We should have 2 or three more Superbowl Championships but we wasted the meat of Bens career with the mediocrity that is Mikey Sunglasses.

You’re the one who was triggered by a little criticism of Tomlin,any one can just scroll up in this thread and see it, I get your agenda took a pretty big hit today, so chin up buttercup.

You’ve got a lot of anger towards Ben, jealous? Did the high school quarterback stuff you in a locker too many times? Bang your girlfriend? Or is Ben just too much of toxic male for you snowflake?

Your anger will simmer for a few months and you’ll eagerly run on here to bait people with “happy with your new coach now??” to get your rocks off the first time he struggles year 1, which will be ironic after Tomlin simps like you have given him cover for over a decade.

You think you bother me? You’re just another tool who takes some moral superiority in defending Tomlin and is in love with his own voice, it’s good fun to call you out on it
