Tomlin stepping down

Tomlin and Franklin both gone the same year, am I dreaming?
My wife just called to check in and asked how my day was. I said it's friggin' great...the best...she said are you for real after last night. I said yes...Tomlin is gone. I got rid of Franklin and Tomlin in the same year. The day is wonderful!

Best case scenario. Now the Rooney Rule Steelers can hire a coach without feeling pressured to make a minority hire.
I hope they hire a Swedish soccer coach just so I don't have to hear this b.s. anymore.
Anyway Happy Freedom Day!

This is weird to say, but whoever we hire as the HC, please bring in an OL coach who knows what he is doing. We have so much draft capital tied up in the OL, and the soon-to-be-former OL coach didn't have a ******* clue.

Nobody with more than 3 brain cells is taking on that contract based on Watt's age and production this season.
Well I am sure they will factor in the lung puncture..There is also teams with less than 3!

And I will say this about the Rooney loyalty, sometimes to a fault:

The Steelers will get the best coach available because that guy knows he will be given time to develop the team and will not be booted at the first sign of trouble.

I will say one thing here. I have no idea if Mr. Rooney initiated this. But he definitely gets bailed out here. I will readily admit that I’ve wanted CMT gone for years. But I’ve placed the blame on ownership. What’s Mike supposed to do when they keep on renewing his contract with raises? Blame a lot on the owner for letting this get this far.

The times In the last seven or so years where I thought they were contending.
Covid year when they one all those games only to completely **** bed in playoffs.
After KPs first season where it appeared they gained some traction.
They went on a nice little run last year when Russ took over. Using all parts of the field.
All those were either incredibly fleeting or fools gold or both.

I don't give a flying **** the race of the next head coach

do not bring race/DEI/politics into this discussion
I took that as his point-The Steelers should be free to hire the best coach regardless of race.

We all know there will be pressure on the Rooneys to hire a minority candidate because of their association with the Rooney rule from some circles

My point: ignore race, hire the best person
