What would you do to improve the game?

What would I do? Contract the P*ts.

From a TV viewing point of view:

Band the XP-commercial-kickoff-commercial.
Centralized replay system that can be over in seconds, not after a long commercial break.
Get rid of Thursday games.
Fewer number of maximum prime time games per team.

I would stop changing the rules to make the game safer and instead I would concentrate on changing the equipment to make the game safer.

I like the format, I find it more exciting than the ambiguousness we have now. I was fine with sudden death. Way better than today's version. The college format at the very least would be very exciting to fantasy teams. Getting an extra 6 or 12 pts in OT to win your week? Who wouldn't love/lament that?!

The only thing I don't like about the college OT format is waiting for the 3rd OT to force teams to go for 2. You should always be forced to go for 2 in OT. And defenses should be allowed to return the score in OT to end the game as well.

**** that....there is nothing exciting about watching teams scrimmage to decide who wins their game.....

The league and NFLPA should remove marijuana from its list of PEDs/banned substances:

1) If players are too high to be productive on the field, teams will regulate this behavior by sitting them
2) if usage really helps their healing process, everyone is better off.

Win/Win.

Condoning acts that are illegal is never a good idea.

Players should stop tweeting while stoned, or at least tweeting stuff that gives the impression they are stoned.

Not illegal in all states...and the number of states where pot IS legal is growing...

The federal government has it as a controlled substance and it is illegal federally unless that has changed law of the land.

Add more cyborgs... or outright robots... more wardrobe malfunctions. Have people take bets in the stands.

Make the "buffalo Wings" commercials, a reality..........................

Salute the nation

Hitting the QB, legal. Clubbing, spearing, leading with the Helmet, legal. No fair catch. THat ball must be caught. Move kickoffs back so more kicks will be run back. Move the hash marks back to where they were in the olden days. No celebration after every stinkin play! If a player runs around after a routine tackle....15 yd penalty! Just get back to the huddle j@ck@ss...that's what you are getting paid to do.

1 Fire Goodell
2 Change the rules back to what they were before Goodell
3 Pete Rose ban *illicheat
4 Send Steely McDork on a permanent vacation
5 Make a punishment guideline that was equal across the board. You would know your punishment before you committed the crime it would be no second guessing. No player would be subject to punishment for off the field incidents until a verdict off the field was handed down.

1. Fire Goodell
2. Establish clear discipline policy and follow it. monetary fines should be levied based on percentage of total salary.
3. Make Defensive Backs and Linebackers play no more than 5 yards off of the LOS. Only exceptions are two Safeties.
5. NFL Officials should be full time employees and evaluated after each game.
6. Update the technology within the NFL as to:
6a. NFL footballs should be chipped to monitor conditions and contain proximity tech. The "chains" should be automated and adjust after the play according to the ball's chip. Goal lines should also record whether or not the ball crossed the plane or through the goal posts.
6b. Integrate cameras into the helmets of players and the perimeter of the field.
6c. Remove most officials from the field and into a booth to review camera footage when needed. two officials will be needed on either side of the ball to start/stop play and keep players in line.

Ok....Here is my input....

In the order I'd like to see them implemented....

1. Pass interference..... 15 yards. 1st down only if the team needed 14 or less.

1a. Defensive holding, 5 yard penalty (NO AUTOMATIC FIRST DOWN!) 5 yards, another down. I cant stand a 3rd and 15 and a team gets a first down for a 5 yd penalty.

3. (Really a thought Id like to see in preseason before implementation) This is a strategy based idea....(and brings the foot back to football) fg's of 50 or more are worth 4 pts. I think that could make for some interesting coaching decisions late in games. (For example....trying a longer long snap to gain an extra point on the attempt, or a team choosing a longer fg in the 4th to gain the extra point and preserve time and get another possesion)

The federal government has it as a controlled substance and it is illegal federally unless that has changed law of the land.

The federal government has many unjust laws and rules/regs.

It is clear that many states, in increasing numbers, are disagreeing with the federal stance.

Why choose to line up behind arcane federal classification rather than the clear move to public acceptance and the many states backing this stance?

1. NFL should implement a developmental league system. Only 8 to 10 teams, age limit cap. No need for over 30 yr old or retired players. Practice squad players and below.
2. Figure out how to reduce the amount of commercial breaks for television in a game. An hour long game time event takes 3 hours or longer to complete. The commercial after the TD, then after the kickoff, then again if a TO happens on that drive. Injury commercials I'm fine with because the game is obviously stopped. But transition from offense to defense like after TO, KO, and Punts don't need commercial breaks. I know its for revenue, but it takes some brainstorming to get fresh ideas.
3. Centralize the replay system out of headquarters and get the challenged calls corrected quicker. Get the official out from out under the hood.
4. Reduce preseason games from 4 to 3. Start the season at the last weekend of August or first weekend of September. Super Bowl should be in January.
5. Get rid of Thursday night football! Thursday football is reserved for Thanksgiving Day

Game rules:
6. Allow DB/WR to hand check beyond 5 yards. Basically the DB job now a days is shadow the WR which automatically puts you at a disadvantage and then tackle (within the rules) the catch. Even the playing field some.
7. Hits on the QB need to be reworked. Contact to the head, legs, leading with helmet are personal fouls, and landing to hard on the QB while tackling are all personal fouls 15 yards automatic first down.. Too much of an impact, should only be 5 yard penalties, no automatic first downs.

You can forget any changes that would minimize commercials and commercial breaks. Commercials are how the TV networks make their money and TV contracts are how the NFL makes most of its money.

For me the reason that it is illegal is enough, not agreeing with a law does not give one the right to violate it.
