College Football Bowls and Playoffs

Wait, I thought somebody was telling me that Pitt deserved a better bowl game with a tougher opponent? And Penn State deserved a shittier bowl with a weaker opponent?

East Carolina 23
Pitt 17

Penn State 22
Clemson 10

Hmmm.
Correct. I never said Pitt would win the bowl game, but should’ve had better than Maryland in December. Pitt losing bowl games is a tradition.

I'll double down and add losing to a short-handed ECU was pathetic, yet not surprising.

They deserved a better bowl game, yet you're not surprised that they lost a shittier one. All righty.

Seems to me that Pitt got exactly the bowl game they warranted, and performed accordingly. They kept it close against ECU's second string QB. Sounds about right.

Congrats on the 7-6 season!

Houston's win over LSU could end up being the most impressive of the mid majors this bowl season.

I don't understand how opting out of these games is still a thing. Aren't these guys getting paid to play?
Apparently some NIL contract require them to play in a bowl and some don’t. I would think going forward that most will have the players leave money on the table if they opt out.

Markus Freeman staying at ND after flirting with the NFL. If he didn’t get a raise out of this, he needs to fire his agent.

Could be a couple good games today with Tenn vs Illinois at 5:30 and USC vs TCU at 9

Penn State appears to be finalizing a deal with USC DC D'Anton Lynn to take the Penn State DC job. Lynn played CB at Penn State. He coached for the Jets, Bills, Chargers, Texans and Ravens before he was DC at UCLA, then moved to USC. He has lots of experience in various systems. His dad Anthony Lynn was Head Coach of the Chargers for a few years.

Penn State tried to get Lynn last year but he stayed at USC. It seems he did not want to coach under Franklin.
