I usually don't start threads but Dylan Cook was so impressive in his first start. Here's Brian Baldinger's breakdown

It was 1 game, but how do you have that guy buried on the depth chart!?

They need to run that "pedigree " nonsense through the wood chipper,then burn it...lol
It sounds like it and looks like a pro bowl offensive left tackle performance for a practice squad player, making his first start in the NFL…. very impressive to say the least.
Maybe that’s why Aaron Rodgers was in such a jovial mood after the game. I know the win was nice, but for him to get somebody that he could have total confidence to protect him, especially his blind side has to be very comforting….
And to look back in the games where Aaron looked not very good at all, he was doing a lot of peeking around and not keeping his eyes down field, which I couldn’t blame him one bit. You keep that guy comfortable in the pocket with the way he could spin the football…

Maybe this guy was so raw and inexperienced playing that position, that he actually made it a point to listen to his coaches and try to learn to finer points of being an excellent left tackle.
If this kid can certainly continue with that type of performance, this is really a big deal for Aaron Rodgers in our offense going forward

Cook was a prototypical developmental project
He was a high school QB abd long snapper who walked on to Wyomings team and converted to RT
He was excessively raw with tons of athleticism and football iq.
Tampa signed him as a Udfa in 22
In 23, we kept him inactive on our 53 all season long because he had starter potential
Last year we had him on IR
He was cut this season and eventually re signed to the practice squad.
After injuries to three tackles in front of him, he is now starting and at least in game 1, looked good
Cook is a year older and a season more experienced than Jones... sometimes it takes 4 or 5 years before you develop a guy...

I tend to agree. Somebody had to coach Cook to that level. He was undrafted, cut by Tampa and never made a start before. If you're going to crap on coaches for failure, you have to credit them for success.
Any blame I have for coaches in this instance is sticking with substandard LTs that weren't progressing at all.
He did well. Impressed me. Last i seen him in preseason,, not so much.
wonder if Broderick jones is like uncle jarvis. Fully developed to his ceiling when he came out. Complete with whatever stenosis he has going on in his neck,
Jones was a little raw coming out. He started shaky and when he adjusted to LT he started to improve at the position. I think he will be fine moving forward…
If Dylan Cook continues to show he can handle the pressure of left tackle, and Broderick comes back from his neck injury fully cleared, I would consider putting 77 inside.
The kid is more of a mauler than a finesse type left tackle. His commitment to footwork and hand placement is not where it needs to be to be a successful left tackle in the NFL imho…
I always wanted them to move Dan Moore to guard.. his issues were outside speed rushes tgat wouldnt be a problem there.. but we only move guys if its counterintuitive to put them there
Thumbs up Slash. Jones was known as very raw coming out with a high risk/reward player. A high ceiling. They didn’t do him any favors playing him on his opposite side. OLine players seem to take an extra year to develop. The kid was 21 when drafted and is only 24. I had no problem with people ******** on him his first 1.5 years. He started to turn it around slowly in his second,and was having a good 3rd season up until his injury . Which is a shame because it stopped that imaginary momentum he was having moving forward. I have no problem giving him credit for steadily improving.

awesome....we could have several starting tackles next season and one less need for the draft

Obviously Meyer hasn’t had the appropriate amount of time to smear his stink
All over him yet…maybe by next game he can coach the blocking out of him.
Cook looks like he has the meyers punch techniques down. He is a high iq guy so those fast read and react things may come easier to him...
Id still rather play a simpler style so it enables the maulers to just maul guys
