Initial Thoughts on bungles Game

Defense did a good job today against Flacco and Chase. Not so good against the run but overall good job by the defense.
The offense is not good, period. Doesn’t matter who the QB is they stink. Should have boat raced this defense ranked last in the league.
A win is a win though and they absolutely had to have this game with three tough games coming up.
The defense can stop either one but not both at the same time.
With Arthur Smith calling the plays its never gonna be right. He was especially bad today in and near the redzone. Tries to get cute with low percentage plays. He is Matt Canada 2.0

James Harrison will probably get fined for Chase spitting on Ramsey.

Rudolph does not get enough credit.

If he stinks it up, play Howard.

This offense still lacks big play ability.

Best play of the game for me was watching Calvin Austin shove the Bengals player I to Washington and I can imagine his eyes looked like the guy on the small boat in Caddyshack.

They have multiple personalities. You never know which one will show up from week to week.

I'm trying to figure out why they gave D.K. Metcalf all of that money. I don't see it.

I said when the Steelers signed Rodgers that I suspected he wasn’t much better than Rudolph at this point in their respective careers. I stand by that statement. Rudolph was the better QB today.

I'm most impressed by the defense today. I wish they had played like this the first game vs the bungles.

As much as everyone is pissed off at Ramsey , I think he got spit on, or atleast he says he did. I'll take his word on it.

It did fire the defense up even more, so it thankfully didn't cost them.

Two defensive touchdowns! TWO. I think the pick 6 is one of the most exciting plays in football. It's rare. And taking one 74 yards to the house? hell yeah. What a swing.

Darnell Washington is a hell of a football player. The guy is the size of a damn OT and he has that kind of athletic ability. He needs used more often and the Steelers need more smash like that in their game.

He will certainly be on the highlight reels all week.

Darnell is the triple threat for the Steelers

1) best pure hands catcher in the team
2) best blocking receiver option
3) most exciting to watch post catch

The entire offense gets a bump for a few plays after watching Mount Washington squash defenders into the turf, that is just fun to watch…reminds me of good ole Steelers football

My initial thought was that Mason Rudolph won his 4th consecutive regular season game as a Steeler.
My thought immediately following was wondering if the majority of SN still believes that Mason Rudolph is not very good.

.
I don't think anyone has thought that for a long time and I'd say most think he's an excellent backup. Now, most don't think he's a good starter.

This is the best way to describe them really..

I’d love to see what they actually do during practice

Anyone else really underwhelmed with DK so far this season?
He seems to drop as many as he catches. That’s a lot of money to pay a guy that can’t catch the ball consistently.

Maybe if they use Roman Wilson more if can open up space for DK to earn some of that 30,000,000 a year

Hard to question any WR in this offensive system. It's been a wasteland for half a decade for playmakers.

Steelers need to send the video into the league office.

I think they will or if. To the league will see this one that we are seeing. Chase will be fined and quite possible a 1 game suspension. It would be fitting for the crime.

Little more speed and it would be Eric Green 2.0

Only difference is the Eric Green coaches had better game plans….

They're not getting their money's worth from Metcalf, but they're not exactly using him in a way that gets the most out of his talents, IMO.

He's always been more of a vertical/speed threat than a great route runner, and the Steelers just haven't thrown downfield with any consistency for years now.

His yards after the catch ability has prevented him from being a total bust to this point, but the Steelers need more.

I just saw a mock draft this week that suggested the Steelers take a deep threat so they could best utilize DK's skillset. I assumed this analyst never watched DK play.

The Steelers need to treat him like AB and just force feed him the ball. Not dumb throws, but get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

Rudy played well today, but anyone thinking that Rodgers isn't the best QB on this team is out of their minds. Here's one thing to consider, Rodgers has been hit A LOT this year, it's clear he doesn't trust the OL, he definitely doesn't agree with the play calls all the time...Rudy hasn't been hit this year, so he doesn't have that same mis-trust.

If Rodgers misses next week, teams will prepare for Rudy, and it won't look the same as this week. In fact, I bet Tomlin goes even more turtle ball and the offense takes another step backwards...

The problem is the Steelers don’t have a good enough #2 to pull coverage away from DK.

And they seem to refuse to use the middle of the field enough even though it’s proven to be successful

Crap...forgot to mention MT Washington....good Lord. Goodell probably wants him out of the league, but I guarantee he gets the Angry Runs scepter.

Rodgers certainly has the best arm and knowledge, but he is a liability if he has to move. With the jumbo package I think Rudolph can execute decently. I agree the line gives guys happy feet. It happened with Pickett as well. Guys get instant pressure then you start seeing ghosts. Rodgers has almost no escapability at this point. I would not start Rodgers unless he is 100%

Hard to throw down the field consistently with the less than stellar OL play on passing plays...
