Initial Thoughts on Charger Game

We are still above .500 and leading the North.

Never have I said that and felt less satisfying than today, knowing what is to come.

Kinda like that slow motion “puppy in the street” isn’t it?! We know what’s about to happen and can’t get there before the splat.

to me it was the bungles'. This one was a loss from the get go

I had to correct my grammar a tad in that post. Glad you understood what I meant.(y)

i was particularly fond of the graphic they showed DURING the game with the Rats favored to win the division, even though they were behind us in the standings.

tells you all you need to know about this team and every team under Tomlin.
Funny, the dirty birds were favored even before Lamar came back, that is telling!

I do somehow think we will peak just over .500 once again and call it another successful season.

Just saw the snap counts.

Why did Gainwell outsnap Warren?

Should Jonnu be getting the most snaps at TE? Washington is a dual threat. Freiermuth at least averages over 11 YPC.

Gainwell averages 4.2 yards per touch.
Warren averages 5.1 yards per touch.
Smith averages 6.6 yard per touch.
Freiermuth averages 11.8 YPC.

Stuff like this makes me wonder why players like Tomlin. They have to be on the sidelines wondering what drugs he is on. Your best players should be on the field as much as is possible or practical.

No way these guys always buy inconsistent scheme. They know the game well, and have to be scratching their heads at so many decisions.

Defense still have many come to their defense, how many sacks and next play did they make up the yardages say third and two or gave up the first down at say third and 12, 15. None of the sacks changed the game stats is all it is. We still gave up a lot of running yards we still give up yards after catch. Our press coverage is nonexistent. I look at Porter, and he sure has done not much since first year. I will say they are great at pointing fist in the air at fourth down, do a great job with that. Something is lacking for sure. Warren was the offense, Rogers no where to be seen, receivers could not get open again. Throw to Washington and Far, what twice. Would be nice to know Rooney casn see what we see.

I'm still buzzed at work. And not a happy buzz.

I hate losing. The whole organization sucks donkey nuts...

I hear yaz berm, I’m not buzzed or at work but can definately relate to how you feel..!!!

The defense wasn't great, especially in the 4th quarter, but they had to be exhausted by that point.

I cannot really attribute this loss to them, considering they had held a Jim Harbaugh-coached offense with a great QB to only 13 points (excluding the safety) with under 10 minutes left in the game, while the offense did almost literally nothing for most of the game.

Seriously, just a little more time of possession for the Steelers and the Chargers probably don't even sniff 20 points.

Considering the opponents, I've actually been encouraged by the defense over the past two games.

They were a bit soft against the run last night, but Herbert had a decent chunk of their yards on the ground.

They held Jonathan Taylor to three yards a carry and he looked like Eric Dickerson against the Falcons yesterday.

Man all I can say is lots of negative thoughts rolling around in my head now.
I’m still holding at 8-9 for the season and not making the playoffs.
Not going to start listing out all the negatives since y’all have done that quite nicely but will only add this team needs a total reset and it starts with the HC.
Nothing improves until the owner recognizes things need to change drastically and it starts with a total hard reset with Tomlin and his incompetent coaching staff.

It's the day after, I have been hiking, and taking photos of the last of the fall leaves.
Life is too short to care about a team that will not put the best product on the field.
I've done the same on most Saturdays and it's been great. I still enjoy the Steelers as an outlet for entertainment. Their ineptitude takes away some of the mundane experience that work has become.

The Steelers told you that they were punting on this season when they did nothing at the deadline.

I'm on board with that. Why trade draft picks to be slightly better this year and lose in the wildcard round anyway? So we can't be too surprised when they come up short.

Mike Tomlin can't win on the west coast. You really can end the analysis there. Not only do they lose, but they generally look awful doing it, even against crap teams. That's not an excuse. It's happened so often that it's simply a fact.

.
A real underrated, sleeper point: Tomlin year in and year out has the friendliest travel schedule geographically. Built in advantages that help him NHALS but it all gets exposed on the WC.

I think the Defence deserve blame for a further 7 points of those 13 by the Chargers - the touchdown after Rodgers threw an intercept giving the Chargers a short field on just the second play after the Defence had stopped the Chargers.

The Defence also deserves credit (along with Boz and the Chargers punter) for the Steelers field goal. The Steelers offence only managed to gain 5 yards after the Defence forced a punt from the Chargers 12.

How can you trust the Steelers to win anything? Get beat two weeks in a row by bottom feeders, then inexplicably beat the Colts, soundly. Then, lay this stinker in prime time.

This team is different week to week. There’s no consistency to anything aside from mediocrity. Mediocre wins, mediocre losses, mediocre results from mediocre players and coaches.

I put these clowns on the TV every week, and it’s mostly background noise. I don’t give it my undivided attention the way I used to. There’s no point really, because it always ends the same way.

Soundly beat the Colts.....well ok.

James Harrison's thoughts on Chargers game. Spoiler: He's not happy....that's an understatement.
