Nope. The two are NOT mutually exclusive. Our republic has democratic principles, mainly that political power is supposed to lie with the people.
An adjective describes something. In this case, our government as democratic.

Well they certainly were not trying to protest a democracy. They were protesting the undermining of our democratic election process, in other words election fraud.
Our Founders despised democracy, referring to it as mob rule.
Political power is vested in the American people only through the democratic voting process, and it’s not even pure democratic in a general election.
The Founders hated democracy so much they devised an ingenious voting system that it is not pure democratic, notably the Electoral College.
In a democracy the people have Constitutional right to peacefully protest, not kill, and engage in other forms of violence which has now become a part of your culture, and deemed allowable and necessary among the ranks of the left.

Nope. It was a compromise between having congress elect the president vs. a popular vote and they knew at the time it was far from perfect. It got more flawed as the U.S. gained land without many people.
