SHUTDOWN!

559022198_18099198838647661_1913595615703665593_n.jpg

Government Shutdown - Day 5

Wife puts her well-being at risk again by heading out of the compound for another trip to the store. As soon as she heads out, I put my brilliant horse-protection plan into action. As most probably know, I received some supposedly "helpful" advice from Steeler Nation about protecting the boys by separating them inside the house. That certain "friend" cannot expect another delicious fruitcake this Christmas, I'll tell you that. The entire venture did not go well. At all. In any fashion.

I know that Cookie will follow Paxton and that Paxton is Mr. Curiosity so I decide to bring Paxton up to the front door. Okay so the porch is a nice wooden porch designated by Georgia building department as able to hold up to 1.5 Abrams. The fat politician, not the tank. I figure Paxton is not a problem since he weighs about 1000 lbs., which is basically 1.5 Abrams. Not the case apparently. Paxton splits the wood porch wide open, panics when the boards start giving way, and charges into the house. He starts sliding around on the hardwood floor. Not good, at all.

Even worse, when Paxton panics and runs inside, Cookie decides he needs to join him. Two horses now sliding around on the hardwood floor. Let's just say the damage is ... well, it's visible even after I tried covering it up with about 20 area rugs and a dozen towels. I get the horses back outside before wife returns, but when back, wife not happy. She asks why the porch is busted up and the hardwood floors a mess. I of course try to explain why this is due to the GS but she is sooooooo unreasonable and refuses to acknowledge the causation. Frustrating as all hell.

Given the foregoing, I of course did not have time to leave the property to survey the obviously horrific damage done to America by the heinous GS. Try to stay safe and survive the horror known as GS - ruining lives, porches and hardwood floors. Until tomorrow, SN.

I seem to remember that there's a room above the garage for you.

An AP Fact Check, GOOD LORD. They have been debunked so many times it's a damned joke now.

Do you even understand the caveat the Demonrats put into this $1.5Trillion in additional spending CR proposal? Eliminating verification, which your AP-Misinformation source (and all other MSM sources conveniently omit)....

"...the alternative funding proposal proposed by Schumer would have put 1.4 million illegal immigrants back on Medicaid after they were removed by restrictions imposed in the One Big Beautiful Bill and included in the House’s continuing resolution passed in late September.

'You have a law in this country that says illegals are not able to get Medicaid. But you know what? You didn't have the verification tools in place to enforce the law. So, we put the verification in the Working Families Tax Cut Act, also known as the Big, Beautiful Bill," he said. "And guess what? The [Congressional Budget Office] … estimated that would kick 1.4 million illegals off of Medicaid if we keep those verifications.'

'And that, by the way, is what is in writing in the alternative proposal in the Senate. Get rid of those verification requirements, which, guess what, means you're putting 1.4 million illegals back on Medicaid," explained Emmer. "That is not what the American people want. That it's not what Donald J. Trump promised, and that's not what Republicans in the House are going to do."

So YES...if the corrupt Demonrats had their way, they would have a CR that would "appear" to eliminate illegals from healthcare, but slipped in a caveat that would PREVENT the verification requirements prohibiting said ILLEGALS from in fact receiving said healthcare.

You are this moronic.

You’re ******* clueless.

How does an UNDOCUMENTED, with no social security number, get federal health care benefits? How do they know they even exist?

Go ahead, take another two days to reply with another sufficiently vague tepid response. 😂

You're completely evading the point, as usual.

After the BBB, one must be validated. The Demonrats are removing the requirement to validate. They are SAYING outloud illegal immigrants can't get health care while simultaneously proposing "but you can't validate if they are citizens or not."

You are the problem.

If they are not verified, how are they going to get healthcare? Are they going to walk in somewhere and just going to get handed an insurance card? I think the term illegals / non-citizens is being used synonymously and they are but the same. I feel only citizens should have access to US healthcare, but i don't see how illegals are going to get insurance since they "don't exist." Let's say an illegal goes into the welfare office. They could give any name / address. With no verification process that same person could goto a different office with a different name and get more assistance. That does not seem realistic at all The system is very broken, but I don't think it's quite that broken.

Even if someone doesn’t have full documentation, they may still qualify for limited health care coverage through one of the following pathways:

1. Immigrants fleeing war, persecution, or disaster (e.g., Afghans, Ukrainians, Haitians) may be granted humanitarian parole or temporary protected status (TPS).

  • These statuses often count as “lawfully present”under federal rules, making them eligible for:

2.

  • Even undocumented immigrants can receive Emergency Medicaid, which covers:
    • Life-threatening conditions
    • Labor and delivery
    • Emergency surgeries or trauma care
  • This is not full Medicaid, but it’s a critical safety net. [govfacts.org], [jamanetwork.com], [forumtogether.org]

3.

  • Some states (like California, New York, Illinois) offer state-funded health coverage to:
    • Children and pregnant women regardless of immigration status
    • Some low-income adults regardless of status
  • These programs are not federally funded, so they can set their own rules

Dr. Flogstain is apparently too stupid to realize that illegals have soaked up hundreds of billions of dollars in emergency room care over the past 25 years, where that problem was exacerbated by the invasion of another 20 million illegals during Sleepy Autopen's tenure.

The crushing demands of illegals in emergency rooms caused several ER's in the San Fernando Valley - where I used to live - to shut down. Hospitals are required by law to provide ER care to any patient who appears at the facility. Since they have no medical insurance, illegals used ER's as their primary care medical provider. The care was paid for by Medicaid but the rates for Medicaid and the volume of care given to illegals made the process a massive money loser for hospitals.

Hospitals responded by simply closing emergency rooms since they simply could not afford to continue providing emergency care to illegals. Floggy lives in some area protected from the invasion so he has no experience at all with reality. Those of us from Southern California and Arizona know the truth.

You are seriously jeopardizing not only the fruitcake but the Xmas card at this rate, Zona.
i've done the maffs and you absolutely can fit a horse into the area above your garage. In fact, being as that area should be more confined, the horse may consider it similar to a stall and be more tranquil. science verfiied. Ark approved.

The axiom of if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem has applied to the Democrat party for years now.
No solutions, just thoughtless babbling.

This Bill has passed the House, time for the Senate to do the same which I believe they will after sufficient time for political posturing has passed.

#1 are not illegals and #3 are not federally funded. As for #2 I agree this is an issue, but what is the fix? Say an illegal gets raped and beaten and goes to the ER. Would the hospital then turn her away? That is going to be very difficult to police and put Dr's/ nurses in a bad spot and create a humanitarian issue. If non- citizens can't get healthcare then i see them just going to the ER and we are back to square 1. Short of saying no one can be treated w/o being legal everything else is just semantics and won't change anything.

I don't care if people are fleeing war, persecution, or your momma...If they poured over the boarders illegally, they're illegal aliens. Period. Putting them into categories like "asylum seekers" fails at justifying the nature of which they illegally entered the country. Sorry, I don't play identity politics rather, I live in the real world and understand real laws. OUR (American) tax dollars should NOT go to NON-AMERICANS for Health Care, WIC, or ANYTHING. Suggesting otherwise goes against the Constitution of the United States and is therefore UNAMERICAN.

If an illegal alien goes to the ER needing treatment, of course they should be provided medical attention and the hospital should eat the costs, we're a nation of empathy of champion of human rights, but we're also a nation of laws and that shouldn't be forgotten in all of this.

I agree non-americans shouldn't be able to get govt benefits. The problem is non-citizens legal or illegal will still eat up costs in the ER. If you have a non-citizen with a green card who loses insurance and they beg medical attention they will just goto the ER now

NOW we're talking. Finally some sane advice, though I gotta say, Supe, the Ark approval has me concerned.

As for #2 I agree this is an issue, but what is the fix?

Tell the illegals that ER care requires a $50 payment, which has been scientifically proven to be an amount people are adamantly unwilling to pay.

Sorry Jitter, I'm failing to see your point. Are you worried about over running the ER? You know, probably better working in the industry, that there is a triage and people will be seen as a matter of priority based on the severity/criticality of their issue. If an illegal walks in for a cough, grab a snickers pal!

If you're worried about the costs to the ER, save it. There is a video out there of a guy who received a bill from the hospital, then the hospital found out he had insurance and sent him a revised bill that doubled in price. When he called for an explanation, the rep told him that the first bill was for an uninsured patient. They gouge insurance companies so I don't give a rats *** about how much the bill these uninsured illegal immigrants. Nadda

Please be more specific. $50 is scientifically proven for some unwilling to pay. Did you mean " clinically considered". " Clinically proven". Clinically studied? Scientifically mentioned? Things get sticky.

I'm going to try and shed light on the "video of the guy on the internet" and try and put it in context by offering some behind the scenes knowledge.

At our hospitals, if the patient does not have insurance, they are eligible for a discount.
We label it "uninsured discount" and credit the patient's account accordingly, and then bill the patient the remainder.
If the patient is in dire straits financially, they can also apply for financial hardship, and that is a separate process and possible discount ( another separate discount ).
But this is with the understanding that the patient actually does not really have insurance.

If it is found out that the patient does indeed have insurance, that uninsured discount is rescinded and the insurance is billed.
But the actual charges are exactly the same.
We don't have different billed charges for people with insurance vs without insurance.
If you go in for an MRI of the neck, there is only one charge, whether you have UHC insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Medicaid, Medicare, or no insurance at all.

Where the patient responsibility can vary GREATLY is the patient's benefits with their insurance company, and the contract in place between the hospital/doctor and the insurance company.
And if there's no contract in place with the patient's insurance company, then we can balance bill the patient for full billed charges less any actual money we receive from the insurance carrier. We do not apply a contractual discount/write-off.
But even if we are contracted with the patient's insurance carrier, the patient may have a high deductible plan where they're responsible for the first $5,000.00 or even $10,000.00.

Lots of variables involved in your scenario.
I just want to be clear that no doctor/hospital has different CHARGES for the exact same services that differs by insured vs uninsured.
There's a transparency law that all CMS providers are required to show all their charges for services.
But we negotiate contracts separately for all the commercial insurance carriers.
So what Cigna reimburses us will be different than what UHC reimburses us for the exact same charge due to our contracts.

So in the "guy on the internet" scenario, my best guess would be IF his patient liability portion of the bill doubled, he had a high deductible plan and/or, the contractual price between his insurance and the hospital is less a discount than the uninsured discount the hospital originally gave him for not having insurance.

Hope this helps.
I can talk about this forever as this is my current profession.

I expect that Steeltime will get "jittery" as he attempts to define his research in this area.

No one has the "right" to just move into another country. There are rules.
And yeah, I have the standing to say that because I tried to get a work visa for Italy and they said no.
