Week 2 Steelers vs Seattle Gameday Thread

Burrow toe injury with ligament damage.

It’s terrible I know, but for some reason this brought a smile to my face. Jets and Steelers defense that horrible last week? Both QB’s that overrated last week? After today I’d say both.

Human side, I hear yaz.

Fan side, who gives a **** about Justin Fields………….. :)

Quit the talk about firing coaches. Ain't happening and it won't make any difference as long as Art Rooney II is in charge. We need a change in ownership and the coaching changes will take care of themselves.
It could still happen with coordinators and therefore other assistants also....although unlikely I agree.

I wish the Steelers had a WR like Jaxon Smith-Njigba. I had hoped they would've drafted him, but want one of those high-volume route runners that would pair well with a WR like Pickens, or now DK. It's why I wanted Egbuka in the first this year. Crafty route runners are so valuable on third downs and in the red zone.

What was said sir.. profanity and a cliche isn't saying much

Blaming the HC for player performance and FO ineptitude is tired. Find something original to say. Impress me
So, Tomlin has no control over the depth chart, the scheme, his staff, and he has no voice what so ever over player acquisition and/or the draft. So he gets credit for wins, but is absolved from any responsibility when they lose...lmao. Look up the word DELUSIONAL at www.dictionary.com

Tomlin does bear a lot of blame for many of the things you mentioned. I refuse to lambast him on scouting, drafting, player acquisition however. Prime example...how in the world do you go two seasons now w/o a legit#2 receiver??? I dont know exactly in detail what the role of the GM is, but my initial intuition is that it has a lot to do with the talent on the field (acquisition, signing, etc) and making sure whoever is on the field is paid sufficiently. I dont care what anybody says. If my legacy and my career are tied to those things im most certainly not going to let the coach override my decision making. I DONT CARE WHO IT IS!!! I'm trying to get inducted into the HOF too. Im trying to be responsible for some hardware too. Im not going to allow anyone outside of myself to sabotage my career or future upward mobility. I wouldn't allow it, AND YOU WOULDN'T ALLOW IT.

If you understand where im coming from then you know where im going with the point im making. Yes I believe Tomlin has input. I'll never believe he has more input them the GM. Im not going to place most of the blame on him for these horrific drafts, scouting, and deficiency in player personnel. I'll place some blame, but not most of the blame, because its not his primary role on the team .

Watched highlight of Warren's catch run. All CA3 had to do is turn around and het in the tackles way and it's a TD. Then he proceeded to completely **** up on third down after to ridiculous play calls.

Tomlin actually interviewed the GM candidates LOL

Give us an overall synopsis of game, once you get home and unwhine.

Despite the loss I had a good time. Sitting in 106 right behind the move those chains gang.
Here are my impressions

  • I am starting to think the issue is less the players on the line and more the zone blocking scheme. Never been a big fan and the guys seem lost, not just Jones.
  • Defense looked much better at times then would be a man short on third down. The big problem in my mind is without Joey playing allowing Ramsey to p;ay some safety we are exposed at Safety without Elliott. Ramsey is still good but I think his best pure corner days are behind him but in a hybrid role he can still be great. Without Joey he can’t really do that and Clark is better up than deep.
  • I thought we would win until the Steelers legacy of boneheaded plays by rookies reared its head. Half the people around me were also confused by the rule.
  • Rodgers missed a wide wide open Muth down the seam as he got forced to move in the pocket just as Muth broke open.
  • Our goal line offense is fine from a scoring perspective. Austin though shouldn’t be on the field in the situation as teams have no answer for Muth Washington and Metcalf down there even if we can’t run. The only reason we missed the one in the second half was Austin being in the wrong spot otherwise I have total confidence in Muth getting that one.
  • Arthur needed to call more quick slants and TE quick passes. Relying too much on the roll out with Rodgers isn’t smart. Establish the quick passing game then fake it and roll out later.
  • Jack Sawyer looked tentative early when he came in but seemed to start to find his confidence. Herbig is fun but not steady enough on the edge. We will need to sign someone or see if Holcomb or Wilson can play some outside
  • We used 14 personnel at least once in the game. Interesting idea. Although maybe we call 13.5 based on Lil Heywards dual designation.
  • Muth and Jonny Smith need way more targets as more for Washington.
  • Roman was used almost exclusively on the out side from what I saw. This is not the answer for him. He needs to be in the slot and in motion.
  • It was way hotter than the posted temperature. I look like I dipped my arms into frying oil up to my elbows. Totally forgot sunscreen.
That is my thoughts for now.
