College Football Week 2

This MI defense is pissing me off. I knew our offense would struggle this year but these long third down conversions are ******* killing us

Underwood looks like an 18 year old freshman tonight, gonna be a loooong year for warriors and U of M

Arizona State down 17-0 at Miss State. They fought back to 17-17. They just drove 95 yards in 9 minutes with 15 runs and settled for the FG to take the lead under 2 minutes.

well piss that's it for MI

The MSU-ASU game is bonkers right now. ASU just kicked a FG to take the lead and with less than a minute MSU throws a long TD. Still 30 seconds left.

Then ASU goes out, blows a coverage and gives up an easy TD to Miss State. After the offense did all that work, the defense just ***** the bed

I recorded that one to watch after MI game

well that was painful. I think Moore is in over his head. we will see what happens over the next three games. but if this was the nfl type draft smart money would be MI gets the number on pick.

Penn State's defense was great.

I don't know what to say about the offense. The run game was better but they still appear to be deciding on a starting unit. They better decide fast and get that unit time to work together. The OL should be the strength of the team. It should be the best in the nation . Far from it so far.

Nick Singleton is an amazing athlete but he does not have great vision as a runner. A few plays he missed a huge running lane and bounced outside for a smaller gain. Kaytron Allen is the opposite. He has tremendous vision, but not the breakaway speed.

This offense looks like they're running practice. It looks like a collection of plays they want to try and not a real gameplan to attack an opponent. Is that on purpose to just get through these 3 cupcakes without showing Oregon their true offense?

The birght spot again is that 2 weeks in a row we had a WR make a spectacular catch. There's zero chance any WR last year would have made the TD grab.

One more warm up game next week vs Villanova, then a Bye then Oregon in a nigh game Whiteout. At this point I'm expecting to watch another Blue White type practice game vs Villanova.
Don’t know if I’d call the defense great. Sure, they pitched a shutout, but the truth is they were a couple spectacular individual open field tackles away from trailing at the half. In the second half, FIU’s offense was lined up to run the play and the defense was trying to get the call in, trying to get the personnel right, and running around like they didn’t know their assignments. It happened multiple times in the second half. I’m stunned FIU never snapped the ball during the confusion.

As for the offense, the biggest problem is Drew Allar at the moment. He’s missing easy throws, throwing to the wrong side of the receiver, under throwing the ball A LOT, and it’s not a this year problem. Guy would lose an accuracy contest to Edward Scissorhands right now. The rest is scheme. Splitting Allar out to the right so Allen can hand off to Singleton hasn’t fooled anyone since the first time they tried it last year. The part I don’t understand is that Penn State is better than FIU at every position. Why all the gimmicks? Just line up and beat them. Andy Kotelnicki is running a clown show on offense.

By the end of the season, probably sooner, the draftniks who have been glazing Allar, Nussmeier, Sellers, Manning, Klubfoot, etc. for a year will tell you to wait for the 2027 draft and Julian Sayin.

This kid is special.

This year's draft has always been overrated by the analysts. I have been trying to watch as many games as possible with top QBs. Through two weeks, Beck and Mateer have impressed the most, IMO.

Using NFL Draft Buzz rankings:

1. Arch Manning - I am in the group that doesn't think he'll come out this year. Another year of experience would set him up better for success in the future.

2. Garrett Nussmeier - He'll be a first rounder, not necessarily my target. Seems like a perfect fit for the Saints.

3. Cade Klubnik - I'm not convinced the NFL is actually high on this guy, just the online draft community. He's a day 3 pick.

4. LaNorris Sellers - At this point, he'll still be drafted on traits. I know some Steelers writers love this guy, I need to see more.

5. Drew Allar - A little underwhelming early on, particularly against such an easy opponent this week while other top QBs were lighting up the cupcakes.

6. Sam Leavitt - I want to like him more because he is a gunslinger and is exciting with his legs. Just a little too many mistakes so far. I need to see him stack performances while limiting turnovers.

7. Fernando Mendoza - I've only seen some highlights and he showed improvement, but against a couple of cupcakes you want to see dominating performances both weeks, not just one.

8. Carson Beck - Beck has had one of the better early starts for QB prospects. He looked good against Notre Dame and he was near perfect against BCU. Limited mobility compared to others, but I think he has a really good arm.

9. Nico Iamaleava - Probably should've stayed at Tennessee. I've only seen a few snaps, but by the end of the season, he may be looking for another school.

10. John Mateer - Alright, Mateer has my attention. He can make plays with his legs and he has a live arm...maybe one of the best arms in the draft class. He's right there with Beck as one of the most impressive QBs through two weeks.

11. Taylen Green - Well, 10 TDs in 2 weeks and 10.7 yards per carry is excellent. JV-level competition, though. But he's doing what he's supposed to so far, I just need to see it against real competition.

21. Aidan Chiles - Fun game against BC last night. You can see elements of what draft analysts like, but also question some plays at times. He'll be a fun one to watch the rest of the season.
