I've been wrong before, and I'm sure it won't be the last time. Some guys on here can also admit when they've made a mistake. Many others can't. I have a lot more respect for those in the former group.

Fair enough.

The bottom line is that Tomlin actually believes this is going to be a defense which will be remembered in a big way. I hope he's right, but let's see how they play a few regular season games first, before we start considering them to be among the greatest of all time. Personally, I believe Tomlin's schematics will unfortunately relegate this group to the also-ran status to which we've sadly become accustomed.

Agreed, I think they'll get out to a good start, they don't have a very tough first 5 or 6 games.

Tomlin schematics didn't fare too well vs Blake Bortles and Baker Mayfield. He's got a lot to prove as a would-be defensive mastermind.

You'd be naive to believe color doesn't play a part in some fans feelings concerning him. In some fans eyes Tomlin will never be able to do right. I literally read where one guy made the quote "I never liked him" on one fan page. This was prior to his ever being hired by the Steelers. There's clearly something there outside the realm of football. How do you not like someone you dont know or have zero info about?

Were you around during the Cowher days? He took a lot of crap until he won it all.

Also, if race plays a part then are you saying these fans want an all white team? We all root for black players on our favorite team. I root for Tomlin, but I think he’s way past his expiration date in Pittsburgh and I don’t expect him to change his philosophy this late in his career.

This is not about Cowher. This is about Tomlin...there's not a more tone deaf statement said or heard in sports then someone saying "we're not racist because we root for black players/coaches/etc". In a lot of instances they are rooted for because they provide a source of entertainment or escapism that appeals to that fan....it doesn't mean the fan has any real love or concern for black people or dont toss around the "n" word as a racial slur from time to time.

GTFOH with your racism bullshit. Fans are frustrated with his Tomlinism's at the podium and his Tomlinships that lead to consistent mediocrity, and zero playoff wins in the last 8 years. Again, for your thick skull, fans are frustrated with his coaching results and none of us, from what I've read on this board, have stated we hate him, dislike him, or hold any ire towards him personally. Nor have I read anything about race except for two people on this board and you're one of them; the other one I put on ignore after calling his *** out.
