Cam Heyward wants a new deal

Real men honor commitments that they make. I have ZERO sympathy for these guys who makes deals then whine about them later. Now if you are at the end of your deal, then by al means negotiations can be done as you like. If you are under contract for X years, then do as you agreed. I feel the same regarding the team management too.

Dude is aging well & made All Pro as a 35 year old..

I love Cam and everything he's meant to the Steelers, but c'mon, man... he's age 36. He was drafted in 2011 (the year the iPhone 4s came out; the year Netflix shifted from DVD rentals to streaming... need I go on?).

The only contracts he should be negotiating right now are: the contract with whatever marina he plans on docking his retirement yacht at, or with CBS, FOX, etc. for his color analyst role next year.

Well that sucks. And they are not in position to part ways
He is trying to break the tradition of not renegotiating with 2 years left.

I wouldnt. Love the guy, but if he sat out the mandatory fines would eat up his contract. Dont set that precedent. Id hate to trade him, but send him to a real contender, save six mil or so on the cap this year, abd add a freaken stud WR

I thought this was another zombie thread brought back llto life. He just signed a Fng contract and is almost at retirement age, the 3rd year was practically gift by the team, maybe he just wants guaranteed money on that contract ? Else it makes zero sense.

Maybe he saw that the shiny new draft pick is making waves and is worried they cut his *** after this season?

What a team player
That’s how a captain leads by example
Signs an extension he forced last year, now wants more
If he doesn’t fall off a cliff expect the same next year…mo money, mo money, mo money

What did we expect from the leader of the greatest D ever???

Watt should hold out for more once Parsons signs…why not?

Or .....Send him to the Browns for Pickett and a 7th.🤔

He seems kind of phony. He wants to portray that he's loyal, wants to win, etc. but at the end of the day he just wants the $$$$$. That's fine, just own it.
FO should just tell....no. Not that hard really.

I’m neutral on this and kinda in Heyward’s corner here. He did sign a contract last year and outplayed the contract. He is ranked among the top DE’s in the league. He’s the anchor to the defense and a leader of the team. That being said, the Steelers signed the contract too. If Cam under performed last year and looked like a dud, or any player regardless of contract, they would tell Cam or whatever player to get on with their life’s work.

Cam doesn’t have a guarantee on his contract. I don’t blame him for wanting a little guaranteed padding for his pocket. Things happen, he could have a career ending injury first snap of the opening of the season. I hope that both parties find an amicable resolution

He is at the end of his career. He already banked the $$$$. Infact...after signing his new deal last season he banked $$$$. I believe he is on the books for like $1.3 mill this season. Cap hit upwards of $14 mill to $15 mill. His bonus is already in the bank or being spent. Greed is ugly at times.

I’m a Buckeye homer and I’m sick of this clown, shows up small in big games vs. good teams, always bitching about money, getting a spot for his little brother, who probably doesn’t belong in the league.

Make a statement and trade him.

I believe Heyward has 1 career play-off win....during his rookie season where he rarely even played. Him and Watt need to pick up the their play and leadership skills and bring us at least ONE playoff win this season..... No?

I also read Boz want more cash. 🤔

As in cut or trade him
Why would they cut him or trade him he is under contract....one he signed last season? Oh....that is right......volunteers and not hostages. I forgot about that. 🙄

Of his salary this year of $14,75 mill, $13,45 mill was already payed out in the GUARANTEED part of his current contract.

Salute the nation

Bullshit move! Two years left he’ll be what, 38. Absolutely zero chance they show him more money or they are more stupid then I thought.
This team needs to get younger not pay guys in the twilight of their careers.
