Steelers have traded for Jalen Ramsey.

What the **** are you talking about?
I think he is saying he is all show and no substance. Which at that point in Apollo’s career he was. He is very Cooch like they could be brothers……

almost.

😀

CB is a more important position than safety, but the Steelers need to upgrade at FS now. Love the Smith pickup, this is why you couldn’t keep Pickens, they’re going to run a lot of 2-3 TE sets, Pickens would have been throwing tantrums with the lack of targets.

I love the undrafted safety Castro. They have him as a 3rd S behind Elliott and Thronhill. You still have Killebrew in the mix. That’s a good safety room.

It is? Thornhill is nothing special, Killebrew is a special teams demon, Castro a UDFA rookie. C’mon.

We probably say goodbye to both Pierre and Lil Heyward with this deal.

And still need a safety, swing tackle, and maybe a #2 WR.

Wish they hadn't traded Pickens

Lil Heyward should have been gone 2 yrs ago.

Pickens may have looked good but his “bull-****” makes it addition b y subtraction. (May comeback to haunt me)

I think the #2 is on the roster close enough to not merit a big name signing.

Swing tackle is needed

Safety is debatable yet.

Dang, who’d thought our off-season was hoping to be so exciting ?

are there teams that are 3 deep with pro bowlers in their safety room? Eliot and Thornhill are a good starting pair and Killebrew is as good or better than what most teams have as the #3 safety. I really like the upside of Castro which would make Killebrew #4. Castro was undrafted because he's already 25.

Thornhill was a good player until he got injured. If he's healthy, he's a better than average safety. If Tomlin wants a guy to play center field, Thornhill is good enough for that.

Free safety is a low impact position in the austin D and Elliott played FS before... and SS is basically an ILB these days... plus we have a lot of slot CBs to fill the coverage roles...

D isnt like it was 15 years ago... its a lot of transcendent position BS... and again... having a star S in Austin's D is a waste

Killebrew? 177 defensive snaps in 4 seasons in Pittsburgh, 110 in 2023 when injuries hit. He’s a career special teamer.

“Austin’s D"

They’re so cute at this age.

So, who else wants the 2019 trade for Minkah back? I hated it at the time, even though I liked him as a player, because it reeked of desperation when the season ended with Ben’s injury. 6 years later, nothing to show for it but a few blowout playoff losses as we continue to churn through stopgap QBs.

All they had to do was take their lumps and have a shot at a franchise QB to replace Ben, in a draft that has produced five very good to great QBs.

Oof.

yep, wrote that at the time.

Even without Fitzpatrick, the Steelers wouldn't have been in great position to get a QB. Three QBs went in the top 6. The only other QB in the first was Jordan Love. They also had a chance at Jalen Hurts in the second instead of Chase Claypool and they passed on him. It's not like if they miss this trade they were drafting Justin Herbert, who has the same number of playoff wins since 2020 as Mike Tomlin.

The 3 TE set would be my base O set.

It gives you the beef to run the ball with Mt Washington as a 6th OL and now they for sure have a 2WR in either Muth or Smith. Triple TE’s on one side DK on the other with a RB that can also slide out behind the TE’s. If Rodgers can’t hit one of those 5 then just cut him and move on. If I were Rudy, I would be spending as much time with these guys as possible before camp, because I can’t envision a year without Rudy starting a few of those games.

Hindsight is always 20/20. At the time Minkah was a great p/u and played better than any rookie would have in his 2nd or 3rd year. When he came in they allowed him to just concentrate on the ball because he didn’t know the D, and he excelled. They should have left him in that role.

For years fans have been crying the Steelers just rinse and repeat and do the same thing every year. Now they’re actually attempting to shake things up and fans are still unhappy. Hate losing Minkah but at least it ain’t the same boring offseason. Don’t know if it works only time will tell but at least the standard appears to have changed and about time if you ask me. Tomlin and Khan are living or dying on this hill.

Even if they had picked one of the top 4-6 QB’s there is no reason to believe that Tomlin would get them to where they are today. Hurts or Herbert would now be tagged as a bust on a Tomlin Team.

There is change over the last few years, but NONE of it is coming from Tomlin.

2 #1 Shut-down corners ?

Porter Jr & Ramsey are immediately the best pair of CB's in the League...
I wouldn't go quite that far, but having two lockdown corners out there will be nice for a change. Ramsey is a 7 time pro-bowler and was there only a a few years ago. Minkah has been average at best these last few years, maybe it's scheme, maybe he isn't that great.

Having two pro bowl calibre corners to go against offenses in our division is huge, will give Watt and Highsmith more time to work their magic.

That's the biggest thing tho, he's missed 12 games the last two years...if he is who they are relying on, we're in trouble.

I mean I get the narrative and all, but last year we played cover 2 zone around 12% and cover 2 man around 1% ... it wasnt a traditional Tomlin D... we were always in cover 3 zone or cover 1 man press... it was a lot more schematically like the Austin Ds of the lions or short bengals stint.

So, you know... facts and ****... tomlin probably still called plays and we occasionally were in his tampa 2... but mostly it was Austins schemes...

They picked 18th after going 8-8. Without Minkah, they’re 6-10 at best, maybe 5-11 or 4-12. That’s a top 5 pick, easier to move up no matter what.
