Steelers have traded for Jalen Ramsey.

Peterson was a few years older than Ramsey is when he came to the Steelers. He should be better.
Ramsey will turn 31 during the season so yeah he is 2 years younger, but Peterson was coming off a season with 5 INT's and 15 PD's the season before we got him. I just don't see Ramsey being much more than an average CB anymore, Minkah was only 28, I'd rather just kept him and allow him to do his thing, but Tomlin wasn't allowing that so hopefully Ramsey can turn in one more good season.

Ramsey can play slot and, I believe, free safety. Tomlin loves those chess pieces.
He loves those checker pieces, all the good coaches are playing Chess, Tomlin is playing checkers, the way he made Minkah play is clear cut evidence of that.

With the way they were using him not gonna matter.much
True, but just like when they got rid of Pickens-you half to have a plan to fill that hole, especially on what is now an older team that you’d think is in win now mode

Who is playing WR2 and safety now?

Im not speaking for myself. They felt Pickens was addition by subtraction. Minkah is easily replaced in what he was doing/role

Tomlin is going to invent the "six TE offense" playbook. Can you imagine the options of throwing out to the sidelines?

Kaboly just tweeted, the Steelers view Smith as a TE, slot WR, and a full back lol

Is kazee still a fa maybe he could play fs

I'm not sure the rave for a #2 WR, Arthur Smith is a 1 WR OC, the TE is his #2 WR, and we just traded for another TE that is making like 12 million per, he's going to be on the field alot, they just extend Freiermuth, so they're paying 2 TE's like 24 million per, there's your #2 WR, pay a #2 WR would be crazy because we wouldn't use them much
I still think this is a myth about Smith's offense. When he's had talent at WR2, he's used them. The problem is he's had awful receivers...and maybe that was by choice. But if the Steelers brought in a legit WR2, they would use them as such. Trading for Smith should end any talk of trading for another WR.

Minka’s play has been a head scratcher over the last couple years. Fans mentioned he’s been used in a conservative role recently which explains his lack of splash plays, this could be true. On the other hand, we all know who runs this defense so I’m reluctant to point at the defensive coordinators who have been here since Fitzpatrick’s arrival. Tomlin’s been running basically the same sceme with some occasional variations.

There has been recent reported rumblings from unnamed players about blown coverages due to lack of or missed communication. Who’s to blame, what’s really the major difference between Fitzpatrick’s first few years with Pittsburgh and recent production. I have no idea who’s to blame but your free safety has the best view of the opponent’s alignment, motion etc and makes the adjustments. All I can say is it hasn’t gone well.

Allot of folks view Ramsey as your typical corner who covers well but doesn’t like to get his nose dirty, he’s a hard nosed yappy football player who doesn’t mind going inside and outside and sticking it to the ball carrier.

I don’t mind this trade at all especially with the addition of Smith, the secondary needed a shake up.

I don't see why they would... how many CB's are they gonna have on the roster? They signed Slay and Echols, they resigned Pierre, and are returning Bishop, Porter, and Trice. Now you add in Ramsey, and you can't forget about the longshot Kent they drafted late for DB/Return role.

Now we have a huge hole at Safety, with only Thornhill (missed 12 games the last 2 years), Killabrew, Elliot, and Decastro...
Maybe they like Decastro more than we thought behind Thornhill. Or maybe they move Slay or Ramsey to safety.

Given the relative importance of each position, I think I would rather pay an average CB big money than an average S, which is basically what Minkah has been for awhile now.

Many want to blame the scheme, and that may very well be a big factor, but the fact they traded him kind of implies they viewed him as the bigger problem as it relates to his drop in production.

As was the case with Pickens, I just do not understand why they've been waiting so long into the offseason to make these trades.

I refuse to believe that none of these trades could have possibly been made before the draft

I guess Arthur Smith has had him as a player for 3 seasons. So he must know his capabilities. He does have the athletic ability to line up anywhere.
Interesting enough he had his great season when Arthur had nothing to do with him. If they use him properly I think he could be good.
Open the playbook this year!
Like many….these one year older player rentals doesn’t thrill me. But I am certainly willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

It absolutely was the scheme, maybe there was some behind the scenes stuff with Minkah we don't know about. He came here when we traded for him and didn't really know the defense so they played him close to the box to allow to be a playmaker and he had an amazing season, watching games Minkah was always lined up 15 yards downfield the past few seasons, why would he want to do that when he's proven to be a great playmaker.

Everyone keeps throwing Minkah's name out when the players were talking about someone not being on the same page, but Minkah was one of the players calling that person out. And thru a little bit of research, you would know that it wasn't Minkah, it was Cam Sutton. When he took over for Bishop after his suspension was up, that is when all the miscommunications started. And all the plays that stood out as the biggest blunders, Sutton's man was the one WIDE open.

we're running a 300+ lb safety out there? holy **** we got slower.

They sign Rogers and Ramsey and get MUCH older as a team. Did Ron Hextall join the Steelers recently?

This team is a patchwork quilt with no pattern. It's getting to the point where I don't recognize this organization anymore.
Gay. You quilt is all I got from this...
