Steelers have traded for Jalen Ramsey.

So we are now the place were past their prime players come try for one more year???

Player for Player, I'd take Minkah over Ramsey any day, but Tomlin didn't allow Minkah do what he did best, making a playmaker like Minkah play centerfield was beyond idiotic, so based on the way they made Minkah play, this may be a slight upgrade, but Patrick Peterson didn't work out here, this will probably be similar.

looks like this created a bit more cap space for us since Ramsey's and Jonnu's cap hit is less than Minkah's.

still ... not a fan of this move.

Not to sound like a (83)Heyward fan, he is a football player. The move I would make is to keep (83) Heyward and cut Patterson. He’s a more versatile player and is a good special teamer. I’m sure they can get a rookie or sign another KR cheaper than Patterson. I can see Pierre getting cast away
I know i don't want to see Cordarelle running the ball again, but not sure they couldn't get a better FB type, capable of filling in at TE and ST.

I think the Steelers have another trade for depth before TC.

Well, consider this as well!
We traded our 2020 first round pick back in 2019 for Minkah after Ben was injured.
Was that trade really worth it now considering we may have had the chance to draft Justin Herbert in the 2020 draft.
Remember we finished 8-8 in 2019 and that pick was a pretty high one at that. Could have moved up to take Herbert pretty easily.
I know, second guessing, but we got six seasons out of Minkah and zero playoff wins.
Someone must be held accountable for all these questionable moves within this organization.

That is something I’m suspecting. Probably by the time they report Latrobe for camp, they could possibly do something with TJs extension. There is room to bring someone like Lazard or someone capable of being WR2 unless Rodgers sees something in CA3 and Roman Wilson to make them bypass the WR2 search and bring in Joneau Smith

Weren’t using Minkah properly anyways
And a few good safeties still out there as free agents

But good lawd, seems like a massive overpay for an aging average DB…and they give Jalen mo money??? WTH is going on here?

We probably say goodbye to both Pierre and Lil Heyward with this deal.
No loss there.

I don't see why they would... how many CB's are they gonna have on the roster? They signed Slay and Echols, they resigned Pierre, and are returning Bishop, Porter, and Trice. Now you add in Ramsey, and you can't forget about the longshot Kent they drafted late for DB/Return role.

Now we have a huge hole at Safety, with only Thornhill (missed 12 games the last 2 years), Killabrew, Elliot, and Decastro...
Well, prior to this trade they only had two good cornerbacks on the roster, now they have three.

I'm not sure the rave for a #2 WR, Arthur Smith is a 1 WR OC, the TE is his #2 WR, and we just traded for another TE that is making like 12 million per, he's going to be on the field alot, they just extend Freiermuth, so they're paying 2 TE's like 24 million per, there's your #2 WR, pay a #2 WR would be crazy because we wouldn't use them much

I believe I saw something where Minkah has only 2 INTs in his last 30 games played, while he was maybe the top ball hawk in the league during his first several years with the Steelers.

Whether it's him, the scheme or a combination of the two, things just weren't working anymore and a change might be best for everyone involved.

Recall toward the end of last season when defensive players were pointing fingers at certain players for not putting forth full effort while not directly mentioning names.

Minkah's name came up a LOT in the media speculation that followed. Maybe there was something to it.

With this move, the CB position is definitely looking a lot stronger than it was at the end of last season with a nice combination of youth and experience with Porter as the CB1 and Ramsay and Slay behind him.

But my response was to bringing Hilton back, not this trade

they can fix this by bringing in Julian Blackmon from the Colts. he's only 26.

Peterson was a few years older than Ramsey is when he came to the Steelers. He should be better.

They sign Rogers and Ramsey and get MUCH older as a team. Did Ron Hextall join the Steelers recently?

This team is a patchwork quilt with no pattern. It's getting to the point where I don't recognize this organization anymore.

Interesting **** today. Jonnu Smith…5th team in 8 years. 29 years old. 88 receptions last season in a pass happy offense.
Pat had 65 on a team that should have used him more. Pat making 12.1 million….Jonnu at 12 million one year extension signing. Jonnu is one of those people that can lineup anywhere on the field. Big time athlete. Did they need both….will they use both? Time will tell. After watching no separation pass catchers for years, maybe this will change with DK and Jonnu.

Jalen Ramsey. Has been a very good player. What’s he got left in the tank? 26 million. They sure are banking on these old guys to shore up our DB’s. I have gone on record here a few times about Fitz. He has done nothing for 2-3 years. While so many say he has been misplayed ,the bottom line is he just hasn’t made the plays like he did in the beginning. The amount of times passes were completed in his direction were huge. He’d make the tackles on balls completed in front of him,but never actually stop the pass from being completed. Shall be interesting how he plays in Miami. I think he had declined steadily in Steeltown. And because of this I’ve wanted them to draft a Safety for a few years now. I wish they would have.

Welcome to the team Jalen and Jonnu……I know Free Agency and trades are a big part of the game. But I can’t help but feel a much bigger allegiance to our draft picks. It’s much bigger satisfaction watching them get picked then grow steadily as players and people.

Kahn’s stock is dropping big time. His big adds this off season are 3 questionable attitudes in Ramsey, Rodgers, and Metkalf. His drafts have been poor.

Let’s hope to god at least he has a plan for the hole at safety trading Minkah has left.

The only bright spot is I do think with Slay being as old as he is they did need another solid CB
