Has anyone from the coaching staff or front office made a comment about this quarterback fiasco? I'm guessing no, but if so I figured someone here would have seen it. I don't wish for this thread to be used for bashing Tomlin, Kahn and/or Rooney. That's what every other thread on the forum is for.

I heard one local pundit say they are, in fact, waiting on a decision from Rodgers. As I've said multiple times already, this is ridiculous. They should have given him a deadline and should have moved on by now. This fiasco is holding the team hostage from moving forward with their entire offseason. They need the QB to build the team.

I hope this all works out somehow but the optics of this are horrendous. They look like they have no clue what they are doing. I see just about no way they don't take a QB in Rd. 1 or 3 and probably in round 1.

I don't think it matters much does it. They are waiting on Rodgers (horrific) if they don't get him it will be Russ (slightly less horrific). All that matters is they win 7 to 10 games.
It could be a few days. Or a few weeks. Maybe months. If all other offers dry up Rodgers he knows the Steelers will still be waiting no matter how long he ponders on the matter. Maybe he will want to skip training camp and all. Wait well into the preseason. Then finally say.....yep. I want to play football this season. Omar/Tomlin will simply play the wait and see game. What can go wrong?

I think more likely much like Mason they will eventually crawl back to Russ. Lots of incompetence being exposed here. They just do not have the stomach to play the long game. To say we are going to have a ****** year we will draft better. We will clear cap bloat and try to get a blue chip prospect next year. Instead they are going to find a way to be "ok"

Taking the qb particularly in the first is the worst possible outcome along with paying Rodgers like 80-90 million. That wreaks of panic to show you are doing something.

Waiting on AR to decide if the Vikings want him or not (get that deal done). If not then to the Steelers to see if the “Guaranteed money is enough !!!!

Alls he needs is the guaranteed money to be right, then his 42yr old body part can fail and he gets paid either way.

Unbelievable how insane this whole QB situation is. How did we get here ? At most a 1yr fix because I highly doubt AR can make 2 years.

In the mean time, we will be right where we were last year / this year / next year, not a pot to piss in.

To the original OP, Coach Tomlin has his hand in every pocket of this franchise, so pretty hard not to be critical / complement-ive (should the occasion occur).

Salute the nation

How did we get here? They looked like geniuses having two starting qbs on the roster for under 10 million dollars total. They did not want to signal to Russ that he was not the man by getting Fields on a longer deal. They believed they would get some kind of home town discount from Fields after the season where they **** on him relegating to the bench. But like all these players they play for the cash not the jersey. The music stopped and they were left without a chair. Giants can at least draft a guy.
That is how we got here. Better question is where do they go from here? In my opinion own it. No more bandaids.

I think unless a Jeanty or Hampton falls to 1.21, trading down to get back the #2 would be the way to go, if possible.

They’re here because Tomlin wants Rodgers. End of story.

I think after the weird Covid season where they looked like contenders and got bounced by the Browns the Deuce really needed to show some balls and leadership. It was clearly a time to clean things up and rebuild. They shouod have ate Ben's crazy cap number. Let Tomlin gone and set a new course. Instead they jammed out. Then when they tried to rebuild with KP and it failed with very little effort or plan they doubled down giving him a contract through '27. In the end he won't see the final year of that contract and the team will in essence throw away a decade or more by the time they get a new coach and get the roster turned around.

Tomlin sucks, if he any guts he’d retire for making us wait so long to get this geriatric retread decision news and he’d take Meyer with him is his caddy as he went on to life’s work learning the game of golf where the object is to utilize the middle of the green patch of grass.

Any time someone says this won’t be a bash Tomlin thread my first comment will ALWAYS tie in to a level of Tomlin suck cuz

**** you I won’t do what ya tell me

You think less than that brings change? Not sure what would cause MTs exit. I do think their goal is probably around the 9 to 10 wins… They probably thinking higher but it is an unrealistic want at best.

Rooney , him, and co. always think they are the smartest in the room with their snail approaches to everything. But unlike the Rabbit and Turtle cartoon, it is the aggressive Rabbit that wins in the NFL. Not the Turtles that think they are Chimpanzees.

No. He's going to play it out through 2026 and barring a miracle they will mutually part ways. Two more of these and there is no way out other then keeping his dignity.

how much under the cap are they 40 m? TJ extended. a QB. what else

Remember when Omar Khan was talking like this?

"We went into this understanding that we had three quarterbacks in the last year of their deal, and here we are," Khan said. "Until we get one of those guys, or two of those guys, or some combination of them signed, all options are on the table. We have had conversations with both Russ' people and Justin's representatives, and we'll see where that goes."

"We would like to sign one of the guys that we had last year, but the reality is, they're both free agents," Khan said. "So until we get one of those guys under contract, you know, all options are on the table."

"It's an ideal scenario you'd like to have this done before, before the start of the league year," Khan said. "Obviously, that impacts who you sign, impacts the type of receiver you may go after or how you build the rest of the team. So all that has an effect."

The three bozos running the show, that’s the problem.
I haven’t felt like this about the Steelers since I was a kid in the 60’s when grandpa Art was running things.
Everyone in the city back in the mid 60’s just knew each year was going to be a joke.
Bad drafts, bad coaches, no direction, just same **** new year. Sure feels that way again.
