The whole Tomlin non losing season and the ‘above the means’ bullsh!t really has helped to contribute to me not really paying attention to the off season. I mean, I have always enjoyed coming on during the off season and reading about potential draftees or free agency activities. I really was hoping they decide to tank for next years draft with a solid QB class. We know that is not in their DNA.

My apologies gents and ladies for lack of properly using the forum this off season. Just tired of Tomlin and company p!ssing down our legs while trying to convince us it’s raining.

I try to compartment categorize. Separate offseason and regular season so I can at least enjoy one aspect of the process. 😅

I honestly don't care what they do or who they sign this offseason. I just don't think it matters with the current set up. The owner has made it pretty obvious he doesn't care either.

He can say he does, but his actions or inactions say otherwise.

So it's a big shoulder shrug and whatever for me. I'll find other **** to do. The only thing that will motivate them is losing $$$$$$$ and that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Everything i loved about the team since childhood is pretty much dead and gone now. Just the colors remain.

Falco, many here sympathize with you. There is one critic I must point out with your statement, the proper use of a quote....................

"p!sssing down our leg while trying to convince us it’s raining."

It originated from the great movie "Outlaw Jose Whales" and it was " Don't p!ss down my back, and tell me it's raining".

Carry on SIR, but I might add not to lose HOPE, eventually the sun can shine on a dogs asZ. We have Broderick Jones going to play LT and we brought in a new LBs coach.

Great strategy slash. I don't get into the specifics of who to draft as I can't keep up with all the players. I read this board for opinions, such as yours and others to influence my thoughts.

This board is a great resource, one I've counted on for 25+ years.

I'm with you, Falco. My Son texted me and said the combine started today and I was shocked that I didn't know that. I'm usually sitting at my desk working and have at least one monitor showing the combine. I really couldn't give a squirt of pee about it this year.

Yeah, the thrill is definitely tempered...
again, I dont think Tomlin is without merit, its just that coaches have expiration dates in an org... Chuck Noll was the Best ever, but does anyone think had he coached ten more years, he would have won anything?
Cowher managed to have that magical run in 05.... but if he stayed, we probably dont try to convert the O into more of a passing game and maybe never win in 08... his style died in 05... probably why he never coached again

You have to innovate and adapt... older coaches in the same place never have to do that... so we know next year the o will be a bunch of safe but ineffective plays.. the D will get beaten as teams figure out what the wrinkle of the season is, and we go back to the same stale defense... its just boring , really...

I was thinking about this the other day. I will be here, and will watch the offseason, but I have very low hopes. I'm not missing hunting season for the Steelers this coming year, unless they are legit towards the end of the season. I have my doubts.

My sentiments exactly. I’ve never been so disinterested as now. Wash, rinse, repeat, wash, rise, repeat. It’s getting quite boring.
That ownership doesn’t see we need a breath of fresh air is quite mind boggling.

Yeah, my Steelers enthusiasm is at an all time low. Even lower than it was in the post-dynasty years in the 80’s.

I don't expect that the Steelers walk away from free agency and the draft significantly improved and even if they are, how do you convince yourself that anything other than another mediocre season is on the horizon? I actually get the feeling that this might be the year they dip below .500.

Well boys for me it comes down to a main problem as to why most of us feel uninspired this off season. THE INCOMPETENT OWNER, Art Rooney II. He sets the culture, hires the HC, sets the tone. When the owner seems to be ok with being above the mean in the NFL, being satisfied with 9-8, 10-7 records, accepting mediocrity the rest falls into place. The HC is made to feel far too comfortable and has been given far too much decision making powered in the draft, FA, and overall team operations. It’s as though Art has assigned him as the co owner.
The GM is nothing more than a numbers man and not really a guy that has deep scouting experience.
I think he’s pretty much a GM in name only and do not believe he makes decisions without Tomlin’s consent.
The players serm to have different rules depending on who they are. Guys like Pickens can seem to go un punished for his antics.
Lots of reports about poor practice habits, guys not knowing their assignments, players not all studying based on reports from former players.
You get my point. It all stems from the culture now built from the owner who imo is totally incompetent and really has zero business being the majority owner. He didn’t grow up in this business like his father he just inherited it and it shows.
The franchise is broken and has no leader and no direction, it’s only a ruder-less ship.

Like the last two years, I’m going to become enthusiastic later in the offseason when YouTuber analysts talk about how unstoppable the Steelers will be.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on you, fool me three times shame on you..

Every draft, I say will never watch another. then I do
same with free agency. Midnight I will look, stay up for a while, then wake up early the next day. I will check probs 1oo times the 1st few days to see what moves have been made.

It does not affect me near as much as it used to, but it's still entertaining.

The draft is different for me. I'm a big college football guy and i love seeing where they go. The rest of the NFL can **** right off.

The gist of this thread is exactly how I feel. Like Slash, I’m trying to separate the free agency season and draft from reality but it ain’t working. I’m usually looking forward to the next two months but I’ve lost that loving feeling.

Move up 8 picks and draft a 4rnd projected RB, just out of the top 10 pick.

Even the colors aren't what they used to be without the block numbers..

But yeah. and who wants to listen to Tomlin gibberish or annual offseason puff pieces about how Tomlin is more energized than ever or coaching drills at an All Star Game.

Who cares what he does during the off-season when he's a complete deer in the headlights on game day versus good teams.
