Not double jeopardy, Criminal action does not eliminate the possibility of civil action later for the same offense. Also DUI in many states has a criminal trial and a separate trial that determines your loss of driving privileges. There are also large differences in the standards for conviction criminally, beyond reasonable doubt, and civil actions which are based on a preponderance of the evidence. In many organizations an offense like this is grounds for dismissal, and in some cases much less, for example the use of a racial slur can be grounds for termination.

Ahhh....a budding Bromance.

If you hit a woman and she doesn't have a weapon or gun, there is no excuse to hit her. Especially if you weigh twice as much. He's lucky not to be in jail and deserves to be punished as fully as the NFL can, period.

Quite frankly -- this is dead on. Forget the football situation, the man was convicted; and his right to a jury trial was not something that ended in a different verdict.

Dude got paid big time for not playing and avoided any consequences beyond public opinion. He made his bed to lay in, this is small price to pay for someone found guilty.....

If RG would have said you are fined 10 games checks (but have to play) and 5 are going to the victim and 5 are going to battered women shelters I'd have had more respect for Goodell. But as usually the Führer messed it up.

It would have been interesting if the NFL would have conducted a meticulous investigation into Big Ben's incidents before leveling punishment.

I happen to believe it would have shown he made stupid decisions but it would have also exposed major holes in the story of the accusers.
