2015 NFL Schedule: Patriots vs. Steelers in Week 1 seems very likely

Don't we get an extra week of training camp because of playing in the HOF Game? If so, that will help.

Given the fact that we generally start slow and will not have Bell, don't know what affect Brown's possible holdout will have, a defense that has multiple holes, not ever playing well in Foxboro, hell no I hate this game for us. I wish the hell it was the Bills whom I think would give them a better game than we would. Its a division rivalry, Fat *** Ryan hates the Pats, the Bill have a much better defense than we do, I'd rather see that scenario. I don't like the Steelers opening there one bit.

My biggest concern is that we won't have Bell because really, LeVeon Bell is to Ben Roethlisberger and Steelers offense that Terrell Davis was to John Elway and Denver offense of late 90's.

Otherwise, I think 2015 Patriots will be a long way from repeating. This is a team that won based on the strength of a great secondary -- which lost both CBs. They also lost Vince Wilfork -- that's a major loss to that team. They went all in to win last year; congrats to them it worked. But Brady still can't throw over 10 yards downfield, If our defense simply just makes fundamental tackles -- we're going to shred them with our offense. Bring em on, **** em, lets ruin their season opener..

Have McCullers spy Bwady and crush him like the cockroach he is....

well, the patriots are usually at their crappiest in September and October, so I'll give us a puncher's chance.
Mr Ugg is 30-13 in September not sure that qualifies as crappy.Hopefully Butler and a solid draft will make a difference. .but it's still months and many practices away

well for what its worth, I'd damn sure rather play them in September rather than late November/December. By that point their offense will be humming right along, best to catch them early in the season when ALL teams' offenses are still working out the kinks

I made my epic beatdown prediction on SCM's FB page and at least one person thinks I'm a Pats** fan. Had to explain that I'm a Steelers fan but I'm not blind.
Facts:
1. The Pats** have a stupid good record at home, probably because it's easier to cheat there.
2. The Pats** have a stupid good record against the Steelers.
3. Belicheat and Brady are 2-6 and scored over 40 points in four of those wins back when our D was good.
4. Thanks to Tombert's awful drafting, this year our D will be a train wreck. A dumpster fire. Hell, a train wrecking into a dumpster fire. Even if Butler gets rid of LeBeau's 10 yard cushion, he doesn't have jack **** for talent.
5. Bell won't be playing. We'll miss Cheech a lot more than the Pats** will miss Chong.
This will be like watching Hildebeast win the election next year. We might hate the result so we might as lower our expectations and kick back, relax, have a laugh, and wonder how our side could be so stupid.
Or like that one Congressman said about being raped, "You might as well lie back and enjoy it".
Ben and the O could put up 40 and it won't be enough. Mark it down. I'll be happy if we hold the Cheating Bastiges From New England to less than 70 and we lose by less than 30. You might think I'm kidding but I'm not. God, I hate that team..
Whatever Vegas is giving, take the Pats** and the points. Bet the over. Bet the house.

I was thinking it might be real bad, not sure what gives you such a bright out look.

I was going to post a YouTube video of two gorillas ******* along with that but I wasn't sure if that was okay to post here.

It would probably be fine but someone would undoubtedly be offended for some reason.

If Butler is about to do what I think he is gonna do, I think you naysayers will be really surprised. I am telling you, Butler is not gonna sit on his heals. That game will be competitive.. Tomlin wanted Lebeau gone for a reason. That "10 yard cushion, let them catch it and make the tackle" **** is over in Pittsburgh..Also, with a full offseason to train, Harrison will be in Brady's face, early and often. The Steelers are a proud organization. Tomlin sees what is happening. He will not allow us to be someone's homecoming game, fresh off a super bowl win.

Let's hope so. We still don't have Jack Schitt for talent on defense. Heyward, Willie Gay, Timmons, a 37 year old Deebo, and seven jabronis.

Look at the defensive assistant coaches that have left us and had great success. These guys were not named Butler. Butler has been overpaid for years, to insure he will stay, and take over after Lebeau. If Lebeau had it his way, he'd still be coaching in Pittsburgh. Other teams draft rookies and insert them right into their defensive lineup. Hell, the Pats had like 5 or so rookies starting on their defense a few years back. Tomlin saw that Lebeau could only coach one way. His system has to be beat into your head over a few years to get it, if you got it. That is why Lebeau was shown the door. We need a DC that can put the young players we have right now, in position where they can be successful.

I hope you're right. We'll see after the Pats** game. They've been LeBeau's kryptonite for 14 years.

Look at the bright side. They don't have Butler's signals........yet.

I've never understood this. Who exactly should DL have started and when? I know Jones never got on the field as a rookie.. oh wait. What about Troy? Oh wait.. Who exactly are you talking about? Also are you talking about the 2011 pats** who were 15th in points and 31st in yards? You want that defense? The pats** are an offensive show. If they don't score they don't win. Craving that defense makes no sense. The Steelers had a better defense last year than that.

I'm also LOL that you think Tomlin saw that DL could coach only one way when you have no idea about Butler's system. Please explain his system to me. What is it? Butler is going to be forced to play younger players because he has nothing else. I guarantee you if he had a group of good vets a bunch of rookies wouldn't be on the field. Why people want to blast DL (one of the best DC in league history) is beyond me. They create myths to justify positions that make no sense.

No one is blasting DL. It was time for him to go, That is why he is gone. I never stated that I knew what kind of defense Butler would run. I spoke in terms of optimism, thinking he would get after offenses more, as well as challenge receivers. One thing is for sure, whatever Butler's system will be, was chosen over DL. If DL was so desireable these days, he would still be with the Steelers. They pushed him out. That is a fact.

I also did not say that I hope our defense would look like the Pats of years back. My only point was that they started multiple rookies. That point is less important than the overall style of defense we will play. Tomlin seems to prefer Butler over DL. That tells you in itself that they are looking for more, or something different on defense.

I for one am so glad that the 10 to 15 yard cushions may be a thing of the past. Everyone can not play on their heals, react and attack. I think we have found that out after watching some of our CBs over the years. I do believe that Butler will get more out of the younger guys than DL would. DL's system works, it just takes time to grasp.

You are 100% correct. You don't know what defense he will run. You are speaking out of hope and faith. Which is fine. However, the idea that Butler has some great system and has kept it under wraps for years is beyond faith. It makes no sense. Butler, like all coaches, is a product of the other coaches he has been around. He isn't some football Jesus.

Also starting rookies on defense didn't help the pats** and doesn't help most teams. They play them because they have no other choice. You didn't answer my question either. Who did you want DL to start who didn't start? Who are all these great rookies that DL let rot on the bench?

Also every team plays 10 to 15 yards off the ball at times. It's called a zone defense. I played ILB on defense. I played the old wing back on offense. Every NFL team plays off at times. Watch Butlers defense and you'll see the exact same thing. You can't challenge NFL WR with press all the time. Especially when you don't have good CBs. Butler won't have great CBs so unless he likes getting beat on 50 yard bombs then you'll see him play back as well. Attack defense only works when you have pass rushers and good CBs. The Steelers have neither.

There is no question to answer. I never spoke of any GREAT rookies. Second, Butler was chosen over DL, which lends me to believe that Tomlin, and others know what will be coming, compared to what they had. Third, I know what a zone defense is. I played the game as well, and was a lights out CB. If you saw me, you'd think I still played (so what). You do not get your *** handed to you by teams like the Pats and continue to employ that BS scheme. I never said that they should not ever play off WRs. Bottom line is, he is GONE, Tomlin and the rest of the Steeler staff have chosen their man. I doubt they are taking a leap of hope and faith Mr. ILBer...

The Pats** rarely have a good defense but that works for them because they usually lead the league in scoring with their deflated balls and signal stealing.

Patriots 38
Steelers 20

They chose Butler over Dicky.....what if they chose wrong. Hell. Maybe they even chose right but with the lack of talent the end result is still the same? Then what?

You made the statement that DL wouldn't play rookies and that Butler is going to change that. I just wanted the names of all those rookies you thought DL should have played. Surely you know some since you mentioned it.

What if Butlers gets his *** handed to him by the pats** the first game of the season? Should he be fired? My guess is you are going to say no. What if he has a worse record against the pats**? The pats** don't have a great record against the rats or Giants, should Belicheat be fired? Some teams have other teams number. That BS scheme won 2 SBs and went to 3. We'll see if Butler's "super secret" defense can do that.

Bottom line is that Butler is going to play a similar defense. Everybody will try to find a play or two to say it is different and that DL would have never done that. But the fact is that not much is going to change.

Also you can take your snarky *** attitude and stick it Mr. I look like a football player....

I am not as worried about DL playing rookies, as I am worried about him getting quality play out of them. James Farrior, as well as other former Steelers have spoken about how long it takes players to learn, or master DL's defense. My rookie, or young players comment was meant to be attached to that. What if James Harrison had not took it upon himself to go rogue on that play against the Cardinals, in which he intercepted Kurt Warner and returned it for a TD? What if we had to play the Pats on our way to those two Super Bowl wins? What if Mickey Mouse ****** Minnie Mouse in the *** in the center of Times Square? The fact is, Butler will run a similar, but different defense than DL. It is a very fine line between winning and losing. Looks like the difference that the Steelers believe Butler will bring, is good enough to send your boy packing.

Do you really think they thought the steelers sent "Dickey BOY" packing in favor of Keith Butler because they thought he was much better? There is another scenario, Dick we promised Kieth your job years ago when you retired. He has been waiting for a long time and frankly none of us thought you would still want to work at your age and we really expected that you would be gone before now. We feel obligated to place him in the position of defensive coordinator this year and let you go to other things.
