I agree as to what they have now, current officials, themselves, are probably not the total blame. It's the "big money" who dictates how the games are called. steelrzgirl, i know the sarcasm, but this is football. None of us here give two $$ for your improper use of a home run. To most here, that is what we are looking for, even on the first date.
Your hope is wishfull thinking. Don't think for one minute, the side benifit, wasn't thouroughly explored before the hire. WHAT a better way for women viewers, to get lured into the nfl mockery.
Allthough you may have a point, i doubt it is very liokely. Beleive me, this REFEREE, will be scrutinized mercilessly.!!!!

This is a ploy by the NFL to get the heat off their horrible refs. Now anytime someone says something bad about the refs all the women in the U.S. will jump their ****. In today's PC world you can't criticize a minority without being called a racist, homophobe, or a bigot.
BTW I don't think anyone should ref a sport when they've never played on any level past pee-wee. That goes for guys as well.

No, they just need to hire men that can handle the job and train them in much better. This is not the place for a female. If I'm a 230 lb. RB coming through the line and she's in the way I don't see male or female, only you're in my way and you're going down if you're still there. Lets see how she takes it after she gets knocked on her ***. Don't come up crying honey! Some jobs are best suited for men and some for women and that's ok. She wants to ref then go to the women's league for that.
Eh, could she really be any worse than what they're throwing out there now. It's not like she doesn't have experience. She's been a ref for 16 years; working her way up from H.S. to Conference USA, to bowl games, a B1G game and NFL scrimmages. Wait and see I guess.
Depends on her assignment in part. Specifically, back judges* and field judges have to turn and run with the receivers. Is she fast enough to run with WR's and CB's?

Yaaaah I suppose. I guess I need to get my head out of the 60's and 70's and join the NEW NFL but don't have to like it. I'm sure she has the knowledge and is capable in that regard but man does she have the stomach and heart for it. Some pretty gruesome **** goes on every week on those NFL fields and I hope she doesn't take offense to the language she's going to hear. Not like HS and College that's for sure. I find it amusing that some of you think that she will be somehow physically incapable of keeping up with the 50+ year old guys currently employed in that capacity.

I would not even go so far as to call it a wish, now wishing for things like fair and even punishments for infractions, elimination of cheating, that would be wishful thinking. At this point i am no longer concerned about being off on Sundays, something that used to be a priority for me.

Sure, it's certainly possible that a woman can in fact "keep up" with even the receivers and defensive backs.
and regarding the "scrum" scenario... If you're suggesting that the league is full of animals that would take advantage of an opportunity to do that to a woman during a televised game... well then I think the world NEEDS to see it. If the game is THAT far gone it needs to be exposed.
