State of the SN - No BS

I think the ad revenue idea , for non-contributors, is a grand idea. I am happy that folks are once again taking an active role in improving things here. This site has copius amounts of entertainment value, if you explore what it has to offer. The SN posters are right out of central casting.

The nice things is that they are turned off for contributors.

This makes it a win win.

Yes, ads are coming soon. Lots of restrictions are coming for noncontributing members.

Idiot and Jup banned. Idiot for defending a guy asking about the site? Don't know either one or have had a convo with either one, but we do need people and some discussion. Not telling ANYONE how things should be done around here, but I have always hated banning. Enjoy the conflict I guess.

Jupiter has being a good poster around, he used to have a different name before maybe that's why most don't remember him?

So long Ice Cube gif.............I've gotten into it with Idiot a few times over the years. As annoying as I found him, all I had to do was leave whatever the thread was at the time alone for a day or two and he'd find somebody else to repeat himself to. A changing of the guard I guess.

I put Jupiter on silent for few days but he's not permanently banned.

Dave could tolerate the ingrates until he finally had enough. I get rid of them so I still have motivation to keep the lights on
 
I thought the intent was to revive the site. Banning long time posters imo is counter productive. supersteeler and josh are the biggest dumb ***** on the site but we'd lose their entertainment value if they were gone. Have you seen supersteeler think he's put up a deal closer argument? Comedy gold from the special olympics... We just can't lose **** like that we're already down hank
 
You can think certain posters are a joke,, or members of the "pompom club" as deemed by others. At the same time when discussions are squelched by holier than thou attitudes snarkifcation, and just people being ********... Who do you keep? What is acceptable?

We lose two of the BEST posters we ever had here in dobre shunka and TMC. Was it the pom pom club / dumbasses that drove them away? No it was the douchebags like idioteque who couldn't have a decent discussion. I shouldn't throw stones at just idioteque, there are a few more here that do the same thing, and if you don't agree with them,, you are a pom pom club member or you are maligned .

I been here since 2000 or so. if im a dick to people I should be banned too. Who cares if they are "Long time posters". Fact is this site only has about 1 % of the total Steeler Fans out there signed up. If getting rid of dicks works for buff. and keeps our good contributors like TMC/Dobre, Im all for it.

I think a certain amount of tension - and even conflict - is totally natural and healthy whatever the situation is: family, relationship, work or a Steelers messageboard like SN.

The more different type of posters there are, with varying views, the better. Thus, I would hesitate to ban or ostracize anyone, unless there was some incredibly serious infraction. I'd rather you'd give troublemakers a time-out instead, but keep as many people around as possible.

The notion that people will disagree with you, call you out, make fun of you, question your assertions, etc etc is a part of being a human being. It has nothing to do with this, or any other, internet messageboard. It's a part of liviing life on this planet, it has been that way forever. People get their feelings hurt over a football post (or a political post) on a messageboard? With primarily anonymous people from around the country and the world? The only thing we know about each other is a user name, an avatar maybe, that someone may know a bit more or less about a subject, that's it. (Outside of a handful of folks on here that actually know each other). My point is, I think a board is at it's best and when it's fun, vibrant, loose, sometimes crazy, sometimes hectic, sometimes argumentative.

If the goal is to increase visitor count, I suggest adding content to the site, in the least a collection of links to steelers news, camp updates, et al. Or consider merging with a site that has the content but doesn't have a kick-*** messageboard like this.

I've been here forever (it seems) and mostly enjoy the board, regardless of it's ups and downs, and posters that come and go. Good luck to you guys with whatever you come up with, glad to be able to lend my support. Go Steelers!!!
 
I can say this as a Mod Idiot can drive you crazy ...he is like a damn pit bull just egging and pushing people until they either give up or give in, like its some kind of conquest .But saying that he has been here playing the same crap for as long as I can remember . I have been tempted to ban him a few times myself.

As a poster I could care less..let him do his crap..I say what I have to say and move on, unlike him ..I am not trying to push my opinions down his or anyone else's throat, they are my opinions.

I do agree with Tibs a little conflict and heated debate is a good thing on a message board..but at some point just shut up already. When you just start repeating the same crap with different words its still the same point.

I already quit posting altogether over a week ago, so as to not waste bandwidth as was recommended by a Moderator because I haven't paid. Truth be told I have no intention of doing anything besides reading the site from time to time, I'm done posting. I don't think the site and the general vibe of it is for me anymore. This is a good illustration. I wasn't going to say anything about it and bow out quietly but I guess I have one more post in me since some ingrate brought me up specifically. Go **** yourself ********.

Ok, let's set the record straight here once and for all.

Dave has left the board and doesn't have any interest in coming back any time soon. If you didn't notice from the last time there was a "website malfunction", Dave wasn't in a hurry to get the site back up. Nothing against him, but he just lost interest and that's perfectly ok.

That leaves me alone with the keys. If you haven't noticed, I've barely been around as well. Truth is I found this place less inviting to visit as the old guard started leaving a bunch of internet ninjas started taking over. I only left the lights on because I figured people still enjoyed coming here and would be a shame to lock the doors. BUT, the amount of contributions dwindled with the exit of the regulars and there is no way I'm keeping this place open if I have to fund this out of my own pockets, especially if I'm barely here. If anyone thinks that is unfair, then you're entitled to your opinion.

However, instead of closing the doors, I decided to not only keep them open, but renovate the place. Justin graciously volunteered to help, and we are working on some stuff right now to make the SN experience a complete site of news, blogs, discussions and social media exposure. We're even asking you what you want added to make your contribution dollars go to something tangible.

We're not forcing you to contribute, so if you don't want to, then don't. Just don't be an ******* about it. If you complain about how crap this place is and you don't want to be here, then I can escort you out the door. I don't need that ****.

See that's the thing, it shouldn't be something that mods need to deal with. Other posters need to shove it right back at him, and see if he can take it, not just dish it out. I've had it out with him several times, I know Supe has as well. But you're right, the whole thing is so stupid and juvenile... I guess the big difference on my end, in these tit-for-tats, is that I'm usually faking it. I don't give two ***** about Dri Archer, nor do I worship Barack Obama for that matter, just like to go against the grain sometimes so that the discourse isn't so one-sided and over-the-top.
