Mock 3.0. Needs defined after the Steelers say they are pretty much done in free age

I've been seeing a lot of Mocks that don't have Kevin Johnson available at 2.22.

I thought about Coach's OP this afternoon and this evening. I'm going to defend his suggestion.

While the FO and coaching staff see "something" in McClendon & Big Dan - it is my opinion that NT/DT could be an option "if" Eddie Goldman is there at 1.22.

I am an SEC guy first; but, I watched almost every FSU game this year (hoping they'd lose) and when I watched - Eddie Goldman was a "Suh-like" monster. Is he Suh? No, but, he has the talent to demand double teams especially on passing plays. He's big & strong too - pretty quick and agile as well - wait, who am I talking about?

Idioteque???

Sure. And if not him I hope they pick a TE.........

We need serious help @ DB. Pure and simple.

BTW Ideoteque can play neither NT or CB.

We're taking a QB first round, maybe even a RB or middle LBer.

Need a lot of help on the edge and at DB.

Anyone read the article on Wallers out of Georgia Tech? If the Steelers are even thinking of a late round WR, he could be a thought. He is raw as he switched to WR in college and GT didn't have a high powered passing attack. But, the dude is 6'-6", 238 lbs and ran the 40 in 4.46. He was near the top of all WR categories at the combine. He also manhandled CB's during the East West practices. He's open even when a CB is on him. Could be an interesting project. The intangibles are there, he just needs to learn to play the position more.

These guys just never seem to pan out.

That sounds like a very good prospect for a third wide out. Imagine Brown, Bryant and Wallers after he learns the position and becomes an accomplished route runner. There would be good speed two tall wide outs, Bell out of the backfield and Miller or his replacement on the field. The passing game should always have someone open.

Not saying we should draft a NT, but McClendon isn't the answer, he's plays well vs the pass (although he nevers gets to play on passing downs now), but can't clog the middle on run downs. If they think McCullers can be that guy, we will not draft a NT in round one. If they don't think McCullers can be that guy, I can see them taking a NT in round one. It is a position that a rookie can step right in and play here, McClendon can play DE and Thomas can be kicked out the door.

If they drafted a NT in round one, I think I'd break things in my house. Only way a NT could possibly be considered BPA available at 1:22 is if Williams or Shelton falls (incomprehensible). And if that happens, they better do that sprint to the podium that bothers so many around here.

I'd be tempted to take Brown at 1.22

I can see the temptation, but I think there "might" (probably will) be better options as far as BPA at that point. I think Brown falls just outside the idea of a "value" pick at 1:22.

This is my very generic guess at a mock without knowing who is off the board.

RD1- T.J. Clemmings OT Pittsburgh
Beachum, Foster, DeCastro, and Adams all need to be signed. I don't doubt Beachum gets a deal done but maybe not this year so why not get a guy who can potential play LT, LG, RG and RT. I personally feel the Steelers want Danny Shelton or Vic Beasley to fall but neither will happen.

RD2- Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest
Smart and athletic CB with decent hands. Not going to be Deion Sanders but should be a very solid starter.

RD3- Markus Golden OLB Missouri
High motor guy who won't blow you over with his size, speed, or strength but will out work you and out hustle you. Perfect guy to learn from Harrison and keep pressure on JJ and Moats.

RD4- David Johnson RB Northern Iowa
I personally have Daivd Johnson ranked 3rd for all running backs this year behind Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley. Johnson is a very good zone blocking scheme running back. He has a little wiggle but mostly is a north south runner and has some wheels. I know we have LB and we just signed Williams but Williams is 32 and LB already got in trouble once. Having a quality back like this on the roster might be a luxury but I feel could be a luxury we might need if LB gets suspended again and Williams shows his age this camp.

RD5- Jean Sifrin TE UMass
Sifrin is a very good athlete with awesome hands. He is very raw but a perfect later round pick to get into camp while Miller is still an effective player and then possible replacement for Miller. Otherwise we will need to spend a first round pick on a TE in 2017.

RD6a- Gerold Holliman S Lousville
No one in football was a bigger ballhawk than Holliman last year with 14 interceptions. His timed speed and the fact he is not know to be a tackler I hear will have him fall on draft day but the fact is he can read a coverage like Mozart playing a piano. Dude reads and re-acts like no other and has very good hands. I feel he has the willingness to tackle but he lacks form. It is almost like he wants to make that big hit every time but needs to learn to just wrap up and take down.

RD6b- Bobby Richardson DL Indiana
With Keisel being released we need to get some depth behind Heyard, Tuitt, and the god awful Thomas. Not real tall but real long arms, big hands, a strength.

RD7- Deandre Smelter WR GT
Could be the steal of the draft. Got injured at a horrible time so won't be able to show his wheels but he has nice size at 6-2 226lbs and huge hands at 11". He is awesome after the catch and I feel would compete with Markus Wheaton for the slot position when he is cleared to play.

I like rounds 2 and 3. Clemmings was a mess at the senior bowl. He's needs a lot of work.

round 1 OLB/De Alvin Dupree Kuntucky
round 2 CB Kevin Jhonson Wake Forest
round 3 CB Olumu to good to pass up if still here OIregon
round 4 S Anthony Harris Virgina
round 5 OLB/De Deon Barnes Penn ST
round 6 RB Dominique Brown, Louisville
round 6 comp DT Kaleb Eulls, Mississippi State
round 7 P Kyle Loomis Portland st
round 7 comp WR Darren Waller Georgia Tech, huge target fast poor stats due to Tech's triple option O, could be a great steal and really put heat on DHB

I would like this draft. Dupree is a long shot to be on the board when we pick in round one.

Round 1 Pick 22: Landon Collins, SS, Alabama (A)
Round 2 Pick 24: Nate Orchard, OLB/DE, Utah (A)
Round 3 Pick 23: Doran Grant, CB, Ohio State (A)
Round 4 Pick 22: Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame (A)
Round 5 Pick 24: Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State (B-)
Round 6 Pick 23: Deion Barnes, DE, Penn State (B-)
Round 6 Pick 36 (COMP): Derrick Lott, DT, Chattanooga (A)
Round 7 Pick 22: Kyle Christy, P, Florida (C+)
