How dumb do you have to be to test positive for the chronic at the combine?

No way it is in his system after 2 weeks! I call bullshit! He already admitted its gonna be a problem for him. I hope he is chosen before pick 22.

This might be true for someone who sits around all day, doesn't work out, puts on a lot of weight (fat), etc. He's a highly conditioned athlete with a fairly low body-fat percentage and what I'm assuming is a very strong metabolism, there's no way the THC metabolites would still be in his system after that many weeks.

Yea, thats what I was thinking. It does not seem possible.

he is a liar and stupid there are several ways to clean the body in less than a week
that sayd i would take a risk in the third .. thinking at what we took last year .....

Like dumb enough to get arrested for smoking weed on the way to the airport to catch a team flight for a pre-season game.

No, its only stupid if you're a disappointment as a player. Much like risking a turnover by getting Antonio his 5th catch isn't stupid.

I wonder if Leveon will introduce Randy to his weed guy...

If he is there 2.22, take him as he won't be ther 3.22

Salute the nation

Alot of griping regarding test results. Urine tests are much, much different than hair tests. Hair tests go back months. Urine does not.

I'm pretty sure the only test the NFL does is urine.

Gregory is off my board.

Urine tests are also the least accurate. Not that it means this guy did not spark up a few bowls before going to the combine but Urine tests are piss poor compared to blood tests.

well, the take-home tests where you dip a strip into your piss, yeah, those can sometimes come out wrong. But gas chromatography testing, which undoubtedly gets used at the labs the NFL likely contracts with for such tests, is a highly accurate method

Serious question: How do you know so much about this subject?

What you say is true, however urine tests are always the least accurate with Blood being the most accurate. Blood tests when done properly are the most accurate of all the tests but are not done nearly as often as others because they are considered invasive by the courts. If one were going to fight a DUI breath test and was to present a Blood test taken with in the prescribed time limits that showed a zero result the breath test would be thrown out.

My knowledge about blood tests is limited but. . . aren't blood tests only effective if they're taken within a fairly short amt of time after a person ingests the THC (or whatever substance is being tested for)? I mean, if they haven't smoked in a few days, the metabolites would no longer be in the bloodstream, but rather in the fat deposits...right?

I'm not sure with how long just that it is used as a test. The particular substances involved leave the body at different times and same with urine it is dumped frequently. I also know that many things can result in false positives with urine and that when collecting samples multiple samples are collected so that a positive test results in a retest, sometimes even a new sample is collected and tested. For example some foods have been shown to test positive for opiates on urine tests and when retested the former positives test clear.

Yeah but really, you're only going to see false positives, if any, with the take-home tests...its almost unheard of, once the specimen is sent to the gas-chrom lab

I'm laughing that this kid knew ahead of time that he was going to the NFL Combine to meet with NFL GM's, Coaches, Scouts, and Trainers.... and still tested positive for weed? Wow, he couldn't even use the "...see what had happen was, I was at a party and it must have been the second hand weed smoke in the room" excuse.

LOL y'all are dreaming if you think if he's gonna be available at 2.22 or 3.22. We'll be lucky if he's available at 1.22, but if he is, snatch him up. I don't have a fantasy that the Steelers roster is full of a bunch of boy scouts

I agree. This isn't your OLD Steelers anymore. There is no such thing as the Steeler way anymore. The Rooneys have proven that for the bottom dollar they will look the other way. Just like all the other owners.

I think you should google the Steelers history of run-ins with the law. There never was such a thing as "the Steeler way" if you believe that means they had a roster full of guys with no character risks. Shooting at police helicopters on the Ohio Turnpike, putting together a multi-state prostitution ring, having pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the car when pulled over by the cops, Bar fights and more; these are all part of the Steelers players' history during the period when most folks claim there was a "Steeler way" as far as character.

I understand that SBE. You probably could dig up stuff on every team. Now with the internet everyone knows everything. That said there has always been a stigma that Steelers operated at a higher standard than other teams. Whether it was true can be argued of course.

Agreed. I just get tired of hearing about this so called "Steeler Way" that has disappeared. It's like some folks think that the Steelers have always had some moral high ground when it comes to character risks. That's not true now and it hasn't been since at least the 70's (if it ever was). The thing is that in the past it was easier for things to be swept under the rug. As you point out, with the internet this is no longer as easy to do. I also think that the media has changed how they report news when it comes to sports figures. They used to treat these guys with kid gloves and now they've gone to the other extreme of actively looking for ANYTHING bad to report so that they get page hits or up their ratings.
