The most important positions in football. Draft, free agency.

With Willis gone and his side also saying goodbye...who do you have above him?

Just voted as a 2nd team All Pro by his peers...

Don't bother, I've already shown stats that show Timmons numbers to be eerily similar to Willis despite Willis having the better DL in front of him and the better ILB next to him... he'll never admit it.

Timmons is a tackling machine, that's really what he's known for. But really how does he stack up on his takles compared to the rest of the league. I came across a interesting list.

Seems that Timmons makes the majority of his takles between the 0~6 yard range, and falls short of takles behind the line of scrimmage at 7.9% while the league average is 10.5%. Which makes sense because with us averaging about 4.4 yards a rush against us last year

he probabaly makes the majority of his tackles at about 4~5 yards down the field. So i think im going to have to agree with what the poster said of Timmons not being elite but paid like one. He's making all the tackles on our team because no one else is.. And this is just stats for his "elite" tackles, when it comes to adding in sacks he's not even in the conversation.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with the DL in front of him now does it?

as for sacks, ILB in our system aren't sack machines. Compare his sacks to Willis sacks and get back to me.

I will have to do a certain amount of prefacing with my statements so I don't seem stupid. I do realize the importance of tackles and Corners. If they weren't they wouldn't be getting the cash they get. However, from coaching a lot of sports myself including football I've always subscribed to a through the middle philosophy. That is if you are strong from the middle of the field you will be a good team. Breaking down by sport:
Baseball: Catcher, Pitcher, Second base or shortstop, centre field
Hockey: Goalie, one anchor defensman, centre iceman
Basketball: Point Guard, At least one great Post.
Football: Tail Back, QB, Centre, Nose or one DT, MLB, One Safety
You cannot have junk on the periphery, I don't doubt that in any way shape or form. But in my experience, if you are junk in the middle, you are screwed. You look at a guy like Brady or Manning. He can deal with some pressure from the side. He can step into the pocket, they can chip on a overmatched tackle. You come up the middle in his face and it is OVER. We've won superbowls with nothing at corner ,or mostly receiver for that matter ('05- Ward great, not much else at all), ('09 Ward on the decline, Holmes and not much else)
My opinion.
