Santonio Holmes: I would love to finish my career with Steelers

Dont think he'd be a good presence to our talented and young group of WRs. Though he'd be useful on a minimum contract and maybe that humbles the **** out of him

A big IF...especially with our star RB looking at a 2 to 4 game suspension for Holmes favorite past time activity.

We gotta get away from this looking to the past ****. The dude was cut from the bears and they were begging for receiving talent. You cant turn back the clock. Besides receivers are nearly the bottom of the need list. They will get one guy before the season. Hell if he is the best one for a cheap price whatever. He won't see the ball anyhow. There are three good to great players ahead of him. It's corner, safety and outside linebacker. One of the three has to be addressed in free agency ASAP. Cant draft three players capable of starting in one draft.

Sometimes they can't draft one. The only thing that makes it likely this year is the team is low enough on level of talent that they could draft guys that are better than what we have that still suck.

I have a Holmes jersey I would be able to wear again if he came back... otherwise, I think WR is not our foremost priority and concern this offseason.

Minimum salary? Work in OTA's and camp to prove yourself?

Actually, I would do it. No guarantees (maybe $50k). Just work your butt off and see what happens. If you are in the top-5 at the time of cuts and prove it, I'll take you on the team. That's kind of how football works.

Pouncey says he is a *****. What more do you need?

ask yourself this who would you rather have as the 4th WR DHB who can't catch or Holmes who can catch and run block.

with who is out there Holmes would be likely be the best fit for ous from this crop him or D.Moore
Jennings
Wayne
Nicks
Moore

My order from this list
Wayne
Jennings
Nicks
Tone
**** Moore. Lol.

Jennings for sure, the Wallace trade forced his release, he was the Vikings most reliable receiver last year. Tone's done unless some team has multiple injuries in camp. Without need, who would touch that?

Sorry Santurdio, appreciate that magical playoff run but you don't deserve to finish your career here.

'Stonio is confused or on Maui Wowee. Dope hasn't been legalized in PA (yet).
DC maybe?

Agree. WR isn't an area of need and we especially don't need Stonio. I'd sooner bring Moye back from the **** PS.

He should have thought that when he ran for the money. The greed of players and self entitlement is down fall of the NFL. He quit on the Jets and now wants to run home when there is no hope anywhere else.

It actually IS an area of need. We have Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton...after that, we have 3 camp body players. DHB is a FA, we released Moore, J.Brown was released during the season. WR actually IS a need, it may not be top priority, but it's a needed position.

Then I guess every position is a needed position.

Not every position, but I don't think people realize we have three WR under contract that are expected to be on the team after training camp and that is it. We ran a lot of 4/5 WR sets last year, can't do that if you only have 3, and if you only have 3, you have no back ups at all.

There are a lot of holes on the team, some bigger than others. We may not need Santonio Holmes, but we do need a 4th and 5th WR. We don't need a QB, K, P, C, OG, T (although could be upgraded), RB (now that we've signed Williams), TE (could be upgraded, but signing Spaeth gives us time), NT, ILB.

OLB and CB are clearly the biggest needs, safety and DL would be next, and I would put WR right there in line with those two. Personally I would be on the phone with Reggie Wayne, Nate Washington, and DHB. I would then draft a late round WR/KR.

I hate to say this, but I actually think WR might be a 1st round target for Tombert.

When you look at the 1st round graded talent in this draft (and there might only be a legit 20 guys on that list according to some), there are a LOT that are WR's. This is an extremely good top-heavy WR draft class. As with most years now, the talent at WR coming out of college is just plain better than the talent competing with it in the secondary (DB's). The WR's are better athletes, bigger, stronger and faster.

This year is no different. I'm scouting WR's now and while I struggled to grade many in the CB group a 1st round grade, that is NOT the case with the WR's. Pending off-field issues, White, Cooper, Parker and Strong are all likely top-20 to 25 rated prospects this year. And Green-Beckham is as tempting a project/athlete as you'll see at the position. He sometimes looks like an adult playing with toddlers high-pointing balls with guys draped all over him. And I suspect a small guy will tempt a team in the top-30 or 40 picks as well.

This is a pass rusher and WR draft and if we are sitting at pick #22 and the only 1st round grade we have on a guy is one of the WR's left, I would not put it past Tombert to just pick the highest rated guy on their board.

As stated above, we really only have 3 NFL caliber WR's on the roster and I'm not certain (is anyone?) that the team is super committed to paying Wheaton a 2nd contract. That's hush-hush right now.

So bringing a young WR in to continue the success at that position and continue to maintain the superiority of our offense would not surprise me with the way Tombert thinks.
