There is a corner in this years draft named Cam Thomas. Draft him, cut the other one, everyones happy . . . .?
Realistically why the **** haven't they cut him?
I understand (entirely disagree with, but understand) why they haven't cut archer and Jones. But seriously, someone tel me one ******* reason that they haven't made the move to cut this douche
I have been wondering the same thing and the only thing I can think of is we are not sure how much 4-3 we are gonna run so that is why we are keeping him. I am not saying that is right or if Thomas is even worth it all I am saying is maybe that is the Steelers thinking.
The 4-3option is a good(ish) reason. I guess. It's the only damn thing I suppose.
I agree not sure if it is a good reason but the ONLY one I can think why he is still on this team......lol!
I remember, a few years back (I think) we had someone start a thread about having an "all white OL" - that was a funny thread!!! I bumped up your chip count for this amusing statement!racist. We need all the white guys we can get on this team. Slower, the better, thank you.
Do you pay him personally? The OC has to find a way to get him in the game - last year our offense really didn't need him; in the absence of Lance Moore - perhaps he finds his role; but, until he's cut - he's a Steeler. And Dri Archer.
No need to keep Cam Thomas. As it has been stated - Big Dan should have the opportunity to play more at NT/DT - this leaves McClendon, who can play both positions NT/DE. Draft a DE as well - and adios, Mr. Cam Thomas...Why cut a guy when you don't have to? We could sign a veteran DE and keep Cam as insurance for injury.
Would he be any good in a 4-3 scheme? We'd probably rather have Hood back for that.
In any event, having him on the team doesn't really hinder anything if he can be cut at any moment. If the team wants to pick up someone and pay them more than we have in cap space right now, they cut Thomas and the cap space is there. Does anyone really think that if we are going to offer an extra $0.5m-$1m over anyone else that a player won't wait for the time it takes to do the paperwork to cut Thomas and will sign with another team?

I am not sure about the hinder comment cause that is an extra 2 mil we could throw at a guy like bryant or another....jmo
My point is, assume we want to throw the extra $2m at someone else, what does Cam Thomas on our roster matter? Nothing. Maybe, the couple of hours it takes to process the paperwork to cut him? It ain't like we are missing out (so far and unlikely at a future date) on some guy who others are so hot to sign they will sign him RIGHT NOW
Cutting him now doesn't really do anything, salary cap wise, that cutting him in 2 hours or the day after tomorrow or next week doesn't do. Unless there is some roster bonus date coming up soon.
Exactly, cut him when the money is a necessity.
All the folks wanting to cut Dri, really? I know he didn't do anything last year, but ya don't cut 3rd rounders before year 2 starts. It doesn't help the cap and he really hasn't had touch time to shine. I don't know if he ever will shine but he gets another crack at it to make the roster going into his second season. L Jones is close to same scenario, but he really needs to start pushing Grad for the backup role if he is to remain a Steeler.

dri was a total waste of a pick, and we're going to continue to see that.
didn't we cut urbik and bruce davis...both third rounders before at least their second seasons?
Urbik made it to and through his second training camp ... He was waived prior to the start of his second season. In theory, I guess, they gave him a chance to prove his worth to the team and that he had progressed going into his second season. They may do the same for Dri. If they don't, I won't be mad or glad. At this point to me, Dri is J.A.G. Although if they keep him, I hope he can show something worth working with.
I would say the guys responsible for the pick are Jags. Same with Laundry Jones. That was something that cost us as did not taking a third for sanders.

Colon was also hurt regularly his last couple years here so he was getting starter money against the cap to model the Duce Staley Memorial Sweatsuit on the sideline.Urbik started four yeas for the Bills. Cutting him was a mistake as it forced the Steelers to give Colon 6-8 million a year, ad Colon gave up a sack or penalty a game. Had we kept Urbik, the level of play is about the same, but we save a ton on money in cap space.
I'm not sure I would consider "starting for the Bills" as a sign of quality. Sure, they may have some good individual players, but they just had their first winning season in something like 8-10 years, I think.
Exactly. Urbik has been benched a couple of times even on the mighty Bills. He had nothing to do with over spending on Colon. Urbik is a bad OG who is only working because the Bills suck. The Steelers could have picked up an inexpensive OG and not paid Colon a dime.
