Sean Payton listening to Offers for Keenan Lewis

Allen will have a bounce back year, bet on it

Any guesses as to what happened to him? I thought he would be a decent starter, too. He missed a bunch of games and still led the team in penalties.

I think the new hand-check rules got to him and he crumbled under the pressure. It happens.

My opinion of the kid is he probably cares too much. He tried to fix TOO much. He lost his swing and when you start listening to everyone and their brother about how to fix it, everything can spiral pretty quick.

I thought it happened to Ike Taylor in 2006. It happened to William Gay in 2009.

Hopefully he found a place this off-season in nice, warm, weather without a bunch of coaches and he worked on his fundamentals and a few things to help reduce his penalties and he'll come back and be ready for camp/season.

I think he's got the mental toughness to get through this. He went to a military school for pete's sake. It's not physical (he's got the base set of skills to be a decent player in the league). He just has to quit trying to be perfect and instead just do the best he can and not worry about the results so much.

Top 10 draft pick for the next few years? Holy moly, that is some world class pessimism right there. What would make you think that? The defense? The defense was **** last year also and they won 11 games. The offense should be great for years to come.

My comment was moving toward the top ten. I think we are likely to be in the 11 to 15 range without doing a trade up. Our defense is not that good and we have lost starters from it and it is not likely that we have upgrades on the team now. That tells me it is likely to get worse. We can draft some players but they are not likely to make a huge impact on the defense this year. We play what is likely to be tougher competition and travel more. Finishing the year between 4 and 8 wins does not sound unreasonable at this point and that will likely move us close to the top ten. The team is in a big rebuilding mode now and if a couple of years at the bottom give us an edge to get back to the top well that would be a reasonable price to pay unless you are in love with one and done in the playoffs.

Sometimes when looking through the windshield at the rapidly approaching tree one can say this is likely going to be bad or look at all the pretty leaves. I think it will be bad before it gets better. We had a pick at number 11 to get Ben sometimes that is what is needed.

Well, for what its worth they gave Lewis and Gay about 2-3 tries a piece until they finally got it and became solid starters. Maybe it´s just what Cortez needs......back to reality.
Get to work or hit the bricks.

Same thing happened to Taylor, if my memory serves correctly.

Think Lewis movement will happen on draft day if he is going to be dealt. 2 years ago Allen was a stud and we were happy to let Lewis walk along with his salary. Guy has one bad year and everyone wants to run him out of town. Would not shock me a 4th on draft day for Lewis and Allen bounces back...
