Loosing the Steelers Aura gone!

I've been fortunate enough to live through all of the Steelers great highs and lows in my lifetime.Im 65 and remember the lovable loser tags before Noll and how hungry Pittsburgh was for a winner in anything.Well Chuck Noll came in and changed the whole city's mental attitudes towards really , Everything.We didn't know what winning was ,what pride was and what it took to achieve those goals.He changed Pittsburgh and its overall mentally on not just football,but everything.
Fast forward to today and the mentally of this organization is WOKE first.They are destroying the Steelers.The Steelcurtain , Blitzburgh ,Gurellas Gorillas Lambert's Lunitics , Mean Joe Green , Franco's Italian Army and so on.
Now its just sad.Ben was right...these aren't the steelers.Russell Wilson....enough said!
 
I hear ya...kind of ...sort of..

But the Steelers "aura" is about winning championships...Hell for that matter even winning playoff games...

This move to me is all about getting our "aura" back.
 
This isn’t like we’re signing a young talented QB away from another team, no. We’re signing a 35 year old QB whose best days are behind him.
Personally never thought much of him and always thought he got too much credit for their SB runs when it was the Legion of Boom that was the catalyst for those teams.

The sport in general changed. Salaries, free agency, media, cap, rookie contracts, rules, etc

Maybe the refs will now let our CBs clutch and grab at will now. SB here we come!!!!!
 
Russell Wilson has a great deep ball. He us meh as an intermediate passer. I watched a lot if games when he was in prime he used to play a lot of head scratching games snd pull it out with his legs. He can't anymore. With their run game and defense he gets them to playoffs. No idea after that. Can kiss Kenny's future good bye.

I hear ya Forbes but it's not just the Steelers, the game is ever evolving and as society gets softer, so does the game. Mel Blount would be handing over his game checks every Monday morning to the NFL in fines if he played today. The Steelers that you and I loved, the culture that was built, died with Mr. Dan Rooney in my opinion. Just be happy that we got to experience something special for so many years.

And the Steelers aura hasn't gone anywhere, Ben knows nothing and should keep his mouth shut.

If Wilson is signed we have a starting QB for $1M Cap Hit. That's a HUGE step forward for this org and team.

C’mon. It is the NFL that has drastically changed since the dynasty decade. The Steelers have had no choice, but to go with the changes. I have my gripes, as many fans do, but to use terms like “woke“ is pure nonsenseical.
 
I love when people say things like "Noll would have never put up with this stuff...." they are 100% right, but coaches like Noll would not be coaching in todays era. Saban retired partially because of the NIL and attitude of players. Most hard nosed old school coaches do not survive anymore. The society and NFL have changed a lot and coaches / teams are forced to change if they want to keep up. Only thing you can do is try to get players that fit your culture like Heyward and Watt, but its hard to find enough of those guys to field a team.

You do realize that the NFL just came outta one dynasty and entered another right?
I would say we are squarely in a dynasty century so far

It just requires a great QB and/or a whole lotta cheating

We definitely lack the former so the latter appears to be Mike's only hope

I don't believe that anyone is living in the past...Just remembering an era where "Player Safety" was put on one's self and not the opponent. Lower the shoulder, pay the price...run out of bounds and earn the reputation as a whimp.
