BIG FA signings/trades

as i just saw it, Chip traded McCoy for Murray and Kiko Alonso

Problem is-

Unless he traded for the Cowboy's all-pro Oline, he has no idea what he has in Demarco Murray. And who knows how Kiko bounces back after a season ending injury...

It appears to me that Chip traded proven commodities (that performed well in his system), for two players with several question marks.

But what about Foles and Bradford? Kelly can claim all the moves are for salary cap reasons, but when you do the math it doesn't add up.

McCoy and Bradford cancel each other out, Foles and Alonso cancel each other out, then you've added Murray and Maxwell to the tune of 17.1m. But you have two players that are NOT coming off of serious injuries in McCoy and Foles traded away from players that ARE coming off of serious ACL injuries. And lets not pretend that Murray is an Iron man, last year was the first year he played all 16 games.

Either Kelly can't do math, or these weren't salary cap moves.

Not a big fan of the Murray signing. Too long a deal that will be an albatross in about 2 years.

Really not a fan of Foles for Bradford. A straight swap would have been bad, but to throw in a 2nd round pick too? Insanely stupid use of resources.

I liked getting rid of Deshean Jackson (he's a loser) and getting anything in return for McCoy's $11.75 million cap hit. I though Chip was planning ahead and saving his resources for down the line when he could "go for it" and have a quarterback in place.

Now he basically used up all his resources on an oft-injured QB, a RB coming off of a 392-carry season and a #2 CB.

Talk about blowing your load on 2015....

What a stupid waste of money, resources and time for a very, very small chance at meaningful success (and by meaningful I mean a top-4 finish in the NFL). This team will have so many cap issues in 2016 and 2017 when they should be re-signing Kendricks and Cox and Johnson....

I don't really get it.

i love it because dallas has no RB now.

I'm not a fan of Chip's moves either. But, playing devil's advocate here, he kind of has the competition in his division and possibly in his conference working in his favor. In his division, the Giants are average, the Skins are a cluster ****, and the Boys are dependent on Romo is who fast approaching old and busted. If there is time to make a move, it's probably now. As for the rest of the NFC you've still got the Pack and probably the Hawks as the favorites if that defense heals and holds together. But the Niners have imploded, the Saints are being blown up, Detroit lost Suh. The other potential threat is the Cards but there's still question marks about Palmer at QB. Trouble for Chip is this has to work now or he's done and he has set the team back about 3 or 4 years.

DeMarco is a beast - Philly got a great RB and severely weakened their top rival in the division.

I'd call that a win. Money is irrelevant.

Murray will be running behind the same line that McCoy did. I don't get it. Will Murray forget how to run?

?

My point is, Demarco was running behind the best Offensive line in the NFL while in Dallas. Philly's line is average at best.

Can he recreate that same success behind an average line?

The Falcons have agreed to terms with LB O’Brien Schofield. #RiseUp

While the #Dolphins try to extend Charles Clay, the #Browns locked up TE Jordan Cameron for 2 more years. Smart, quick move.
Jordan Cameron done w/ Cleveland, 2 yrs $15M, source says #Browns

Check that on Jordan apparently he hasn't signed yet and Miami are countering

While the Steelers are generally very quiet in free agency/trades they are quietly exploring options for a returner.

With the Eagles signing both Murray and Matthews and the Eagles willingness to trade away players does this bring Sproles in to play as an option? Could help our return game and start while Bell is suspended.

He will also be playing for one of the brightest offensive minds in the game with Kelly, he is a huge upgrade over Shady.

Some could argue that Shady made his OL look better than it was. While Chip wants a north south runner at times his OL didnt afford Shady the room to do that. His east and west running helped create yards. Im not questioning Murray's playing ability but as someone stated already Dallas' line was head and shoulders above the Eagles.

Wonder if we'll kick the tires on Corderelle Patterson depending upon acquisition cost.

Average backs will look good in Kelly's system, a stud like Murray will be Damon near unstoppable.

Murray is a stud and McCoy is average? Seriously?

Eagles don't have to worry about cap money. They started 60 mil under the cap.

Never said McCoy was average. Kelly's system is so good it makes even average backs look good and Murray is a much better back and will be unstoppable in space in this offense. McCoy was not great between the tackles and Murray gained 1,306 Of his yards last year between the tackles. He is the kind of runner that will be unstoppable in space at which is Kelly is adroit

McCoy is a giant threat out of the backfield....Murray not so much.....this will hurt Chip's offense I believe. Or does his offense make below average receiving RB's into above average to great receiving RB's?

You are implying that he is average. Murray has had ONE good year, and it was behind a MASSIVE and MAULING OL. Every other year he has been injured. McCoy has been solid since coming into the league, was third in the league last year while playing behind the type of OL we've grown to expect around here. It was patchwork, it was inconsistent, it was below average at best. Kelly's "system" isn't going to make up for ****** OL play. McCoy is also a year younger than Murray, so you can't even go with the "well they got younger" argument. This is AT BEST a lateral move at RB...AT BEST.

Also at least defense's had to respect Romo and Dez a little...We will see how much they respect Bradford and the Eagles great WR corps....Murray just might see a bunch of defenders in the box.

Murray is not a bad receiver. So a great runner like Murray who just destroys it between the tackles will.not be good in space, got it.

Shady was mediocre this year and his inAbility to break tackles make yards between the tackles made Kelly realize the tread on the tires are getting bare. He will struggle mightily with Buffalo. Murray has always ran the ball well his issue was staying healthy.

That's why Kelly asked him to redo his contract I'm guessing. Oh. wait a second. Why would he do that if he was going to trade him? What Kelly has to realize is this isn't Madden football in franchise mode.

definitly a lateral move, a change of style.
