I've been watching the NFL Network and noticed they have a top fifty draft board in the backround as they speak, they have Brandon Scherf from Iowa ranked 21st, if the Outland Trophy winner is available at 22 will the Steelers consider taking the best offensive lineman in the country from the Hawkeye state?

I would not be upset with this at all....not one bit. I absolutely want no part of drafting a CB in round 1.

You usually can't go wrong with a top rated Olinemen in the first round.

Hell yeah man I would for sure but I haven't seen anything where he feel out of the top 10. I did notice in one of the latest mocks that was posted here they had Peat falling to the 18-19 range. I was wondering at that point if he falls that far down do we try to trade up a few spots for a guy of his talent. Not trying to hijack your thread but I had the same thoughts on Peat, on walterfootball they have Scherf in the top 10 and Peat at 19. Either way would love either of them.

We should have selected Martin last year. I wanted Fuller, but when he was off the board, Martin was my man. He could play RT or Guard. The guy made all pro as a rookie.

Should we pick Schref if he's there? Maybe!! Beachum is a free agent soon. Free agent left tackles who start get paid. 7+ million or more. If the Steelers feel Gilbert can play LT it could save us a ton of cap space. In addition DeCastro is a free agent soon, as is Foster. Adams is the wild card. He looked awful in camp, but was not a huge liability when pressed into action as the starter last year.

No. Since we have multiple needs on defense there will likely be several defensive players available at 22 of equal value, "OLB, Safety, CB" that fill greater needs which takes priority over a luxury pick. Not happening. "Note; for those of you who think we'll draft Schref tune in on April 30th and watch Colbert take a pass." :p

I just don't see us taking anything but DB / edge rusher in round one (but last year everyone assumed we would take either WR or CB so who knows). We certainly don't have the luxury of drafting an O-lineman who might end up at guard at #22...you better think you are getting a perennial Pro Bowler if you take a guard that high.

Unless we score an OLB in UFA, I can't see us NOT drafting an edge rusher in Round 1. I think we can go round 2 for a DB. With Beachum AND Foster in the last year of their contracts, an OG or OT in round 1 would help us out there for the 16 season. We need those building blocks but we must fill holes we have now as well.

Nah that wont happen. He might be there at 22 but i dont see the Steelers drafting him. Plus he is projected as more of a guard. My prediction is Kevin Johnson or Alvin Dupree.

Beachum is in the top quarter of best LTs in the league. He will be signed to an extension this off-season. Gilbert will stay at RT, since they already tried him there before.

He's well schooled and tough besides the size and skill he'd be a great steeler. Really finishes his blocks. I hate seeing lazy o linemen.

He'll never be there at 22.
Top 10 if I had to guess...

PEACE
