03.7 The Fan Report:Mike Wallace Interested In Returning To Steelers

If Miami cuts him an eats the contract (which they likely will do) and he is willing to take a 'hometown discount' (which he may do now)-

Why in the hell would you not consider taking him back?

Does he want to be the #4 WR? If yes, then, there isn't a problem, if not, then I wouldn't do it. Wheaton and Bryant are developing nicely as #2A and #2B, but for now, #2 and #3, that leaves Wallace as #4.

He could challenge Wheaton for 3rd spot and at least usher Moore out the door.

Let's face it, we need weapons as we enter the 35-31 era of Steeler football. Just break 35 every week and we could be dangerous. Who worries about defense anymore anyways?

5 WIDE *******!!!

I like my ponies to do more tHan one trick. Plus, he's a worthless punk.

Go to Cleveland you quiter!

Do you think he would be ok with being a 3rd or 4th WR? If so sure. Sign him to league minimum. I'm sure he will be up for that also then.

Oh heeeeeeeeelllll naw!!

That would be on him to decide, I'd offer him exactly what we pay Moore and a spot at that job...sure wouldn't put him ahead of Bryant or Brown. He could help eliminate need for CB,S,pass rusher and TE if the Brown, Bryant, Bell, Wallace and Wheaton can put up the 35 a game the new age NFL loves.

Agree 100% on passing on Wallace but look out for the Patriots, he could rejuvenate his career with them as a deep threat like Randy Moss did a few years back. He is not versatile enough to add anything to the Steelers at this point with Brown the lead dig and Bryant showing an ability to get deep with ease and also learning to go over the middle.

He may be fast, but he will never be in the neighborhood of Randy Moss and his talent. That guy was one of the best pass catching WR's to ever play the game. He was not only fast, he would go get the ball and had amazing hands. Wallace would get numbers there because they spread the ball around and he would get single covered every game. I hate those ********, but if he went there it would be a major problem for everyone they play.

How good is he at corner?

Not happening. We have our deep threat with Bryant and Wallace is hardly a fit for the slot.

Let's be honest, he's better than anything Wheaton has shown to this point. Would I pay a ton for him, no. But if he's interested in coming back, and for cheap, why not?

Wheaton has two years under his belt, actually one year because he was hurt almost his entire rookie year. Wallace be the more accomplished pro at this point, he's been in the league a lot longer. I'll take Wheaton. Better attitude, his hands are probably better, he can run more than one route and he's not averse to going into traffic to catch a ball. I will pass on the Super Diva.

I would suggest letting him play DB, but we all know Wallace won't even attempt to catch a pass if it doesn't hit him in the hands....sorry 17...you had your chance and you blew it. Enjoy your jet skis!

I'm not particularly interested in Wallace for his poor attitude, work ethic and effort he displays on the field, but let's not pretend he's a complete bum. He's put up 1,762 yards and 15 touchdowns over the last two years and could help this team. I agree with the idea that the Patriots or another top organization signs him where he goes and helps them be a Super Bowl contender for 2015. Either that or a terrible organization that wants to sign a "name" and overpays him again.

No I agree, he's not a bum. He's a decent WR who is really fast, but one who could be a hell of a lot better if he gave a damn about anybody besides himself and put forth more than a mediocre effort. As it is, he's go down as being a classic underachiever.

I am almost positive Steelers won't bring him back. Too many higher priorities.
Plus he will want too much after he is cut.............

With Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton we are fine at WR. I would still look to draft one but I would look late like 6th or 7th and try to get a punt return guy to replace Brown. Maybe that Tyler Locket from Kansas state.

Hey if we're using a luxury pick on a WR in the 6th or 7th he better be at least as good as AB

Yep...He put those numbers up as the #1 WR for Miami....Here he would be what? #3 or #4? Would he willing accept that role? Or would he refuse to go into a game if everything didn't go his way. I don't get even the thought of signing him. Blount walked off the field with seconds remaining and gets cut. Wallace refused to go back into a game and with all of his history here his last couple of seasons with us....well. I would easily pass on him.

I don't think Wallace sees himself as a 4th receiver.

Im still not totally sold on wheaton, but he seems to be coming along. I don't want Wallace back and i don't see him fittining in. He and bryant are similar and i think brown, wheaton, Bryant is a better combo than brown, bryant, Wallace.
