Can we afford to wait to draft a cornerback in round two?

Walter football is decent. Here's who he projects will be gone before we pick in round two.

Waynes

Collins

Jones

Darby

Williams

Johnson

Peters.

Now if we do not pick a corner in round one, where's the value in round two??!!

Wanna wait until round three? Walter projects 3 more corners taken.

By round three, Walter projects TEN corners will be selected before we pick

See the problem now? If we want to fix the CB spot, I think it has to be in round one, or via trade down in round one picking up an earlier second.

Now wait just a cotton pickin minute hear Coach. Aren't you the one who posited " Corner might be too risky for the Steelers in round one" just a little while ago? lol. Seriously though, I hope they pick a CB up in FA and address the position early in the draft.

YES, BUT as the draft grows near, you get a better idea of where the players fall. I do not like what is projected to be out there for us at corner in round two or three.

Coach has about ~240 posts.

Which is impressively low, considering that he has created >100 threads in that time span...

:p

Alex carter 6"0 200 4.4
Olumu 5"10 195 4.39
Jacoby Glenn 6"0 185 ucf
Eric Rowe
All the above have potential to be starters and screw olumu height does not matter if Brice McCain can start and play how they he did this dynamic kid will turn into a solid player on a island after a year in the slot. Several more unknown players rising.

Guessing its all a ploy to cover all the bases in order to say, "See, I was right" after the draft.

A guy who I watched a little who might be a 3-5 round guy with some talent is Josh Shaw USC. He had a very good East-West game, some experts say he should be a safety but I will leave that for other people, I liked the little that I seen on him. I guess he had some off field issues that would have to be checked out and if all are good would make a nice late rounder, better then what we got last year from Richardson.

Another name I want to check out is Jacoby Glenn Central Fla, I have not seen this guy play but reading about him he sounds like he has some good hands and is around the ball a lot 7 int's last year. Anyone got anything on him, we need guys who can get turnovers back there......

It isn't just about a CB, we have several other needs as well (duh). I say we try something new, like have a contingency plan for if the original guy we want, isn't there, then we have a PLAN B guy. What does everyone think of this IDEA?

more than likely the top corner will be gone the second corner has character question marks, not sure there is value from the third option down in round 1. Unless they go O WR or OT, I am thinking that is what we will see with value and need mixed in to how I see it unfolding. (just a opinion anything can happen)

I think we see a OLBer in 1 as there should be one or two attractive options avalable

Heck. What's one more person doing that. Anyways. To answer the question.....We can trade up.....trade down....pick one or two up in FA. The options are unlimited Coach. We can do a combination of a few to deal with our short comings at CB. We can stand pat at our spot and run up to the podium and reach for a CB and say that he was our guy along. Bottom line is we all better cross our fingers and hope what ever we do it all pans out and works. I know i will be crossing mine.

regardless none of the CB's after Wayne's on this team even long term starters NCAA either FSU CB or Kevin Johnson will not be able to start, the CB we draft in rnd 1 or 2 is Will Gay's aperient we can retain both McCain, Blake and add a vet like Cox/Jackson/Cullivar to compete vs MCCain. The kid drafted will compete to be the slot CB vs Blake and Bw Webb.

Man I wish draft day would hurry up and get here.
