Post combine mock.

1 ) CB Peters. Love his film. I wish he were a tad faster. Character is an issue, but I do not think we’ll see value at cornerback in round two.

2 ) OLB Mauldin. Good all around production vs. the run and pass. High football IQ and character.

3 ) RB D. Johnson. I have seen him play a lot. He’s rather explosive and tough. A little small. . A back up for Bell is needed. Johnson IMO, has starting level ability in the NFL. BPA pick more than need.

4 ) CB/FS Doran Grant. Doubling down at the CB spot. Can press and cover. Fast. Good for zone coverage. A little small for the outside. Could be a very good #3 type of CB, with upside to be a solid #2 CB.

5 ).OLB Wagernmann. Productive small school player who had a good co
combine, rating highly in the cone, vertical, and 20 yard shuttle.

6 ) OL. Marpet. A combine freak, this small school player has excellent upside. Might not play at all as a rookie. A boom or bust type, but worth the gamble in round six.

6B projected comp pick. ) TE Heureman. A big TE with some speed who was hampered by a foot injury in 2014.

7 ) S Shaw. Rated low for some reason, I like his combine numbers and 2013 stats. Suspended for many games in 2014.

I don't see us taking such a big character risk in Round 1.

I do see us taking a RB in round 3. Maybe Johnson, maybe Langford from Mich St.

1 OLB Harold replaces Worlids allows us to become contending Bidders for Maxwell vs Atlanta
2 CB OLumu superstar in the making will be play maker in the secondary the first since Troy down slide, Will give us great slot CB who can jump routes and swat passes.
3 CB Collins trade up giving up 4th @ 6th, Meat IKe taylor vr 2 as fast but probebly has a better pair of hands, will be a long term starter.
5 S Harris/Drummond which ever falls either will add good depth.
6 comp NTTerry Williams East Carolina, has the perfect low center of gravity at 6"1 350 to possibly with time turn into a Hampton/Wilfork type of run stiffer
7 BPA

Collins is a just a in the box SS, kinda like Matt Elam, he may once fully developed be just a bit better than Laron Landry @ Mike Doss, hard hitters but nethier consistent in coverage

I can't see us taking a running back before 4 or 5. Not much playing time available behind Bell and a lot of free agent backs available.
Also we need defensive players with the potential to start in short order. Backs aren't as valuable in today's NFL, there are decent undrafted ones.

To me this looks like a year when someone surprisingly falls in our laps in the first round, like the DeCastro year.

Walterfootball has Landon Collins dropping to 1.22 - his draft is LIVE right now; still pending picks 2-4...

Here's Walter's full mock - I'm happy with it thus far:

Landon Collins,S
Alex Carter, DB
Lorenzo Mauldin, DE/OLB
Jeremy Langford, RB

I disagree, F83, Landon - and you know I'm a homer, is a great FS and he can play SS too. In three years, I saw one weakness in his game - trying to take on a bigger player head up - Ohio St.'s QB. He hurt his shoulder in that game because he tried tackling (actually blowing up) the kid. It did not work but that is easily coachable...He's DEFINITELY a blue chip player.

That is a solid mock for the Steelers (and I like Coach's as well). Not sure I would change anything, but for fun I will, with the caveat that the Steelers re-sign Jason Worilds or another veteran to start at LOLB.

1. Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
One of the top cornerbacks in the draft who will drop because of character issue and slow 40 time, but has physical skills and production to be an excellent cornerback.

2. Gerod Holliman, S, Louisville
Risky pick with his lack of tackling and potential one-year wonder, but a true ballhawk at safety is intriguing.

3. Clive Walford, TE, Miami
Seems to be the consensus No. 2 tight end in this class with upside as a blocker and receiver.

4. Preston Smith, Edge, Mississippi State
Good spot to find a developmental pass rusher.

1. Collins, Rollins, Johnson, Williams, Carter and Darby all would be good value in rd2.
2. I like Mauldin, I like Marcus Golden even more.
3. I like Johnson but rd3 is little high unless your named Abdulah or Yeldon.
4. Probaly is a S. Would rather draft someone who isnt a Probably.
5. Doubt he goes this high with the "small school" lable. Wouldnt mind taking a chance on him though.
6. Doubt he lasts till 6. I see him going in the 3rd or 4th. Great value if hes there in the 6th.
7. Pass, another probably guy with char issues.

sleeper: Nick Marshall qb/cb/s. If we are going to draft a guy as a project not being sure exactly where he will play id take Marshall sometime on day 3. This would potentially allow us to quit carrying a third qb all year.

Bumping an older mock. While we could not pick Peters, he proved his worth. I wish we had him.

Peters finished with 8 INT's!

Madulin had 4 sacks as a rookie, same as Dupree

Johnson had over 900 yards as a rusher and receiver.

We drafted Grant. He did not play much!

From our 2015 draft class, Bud Dupree plays and Coates saw a few snaps. Our attempt to shore up a weak defensive backfield saw Golson, Grant, and Hollman add up to absolutely nothing, and we're in the same position going into this draft as we were going into last year's draft. We are becoming the Browns/Bengals, actually they're drafting better than we are lately.

WTF are you even talking about. Tuitt, Heyward, Shazier, Dupree and Timmons are all studs. We don't know what Senquez Golson is going to be yet, so the jury's out. JJ is a bust so replacing him and getting a stud safety will be our priorities. Offensively we've drafted all kinds of talent and gotten great pic-for-production value out of our receivers.

Seriously. What ******* team are you evaluating?

Yeah we should probably learn from every prior year that you dont judge a draft till years later... Players that look good year 1 canbust, players that do nothing can become stars....

It's more than a bit premature to give Shazier and Dupree their stud badges. There's talent there, but performance has yet to match it on a weekly basis,

Perhaps. But for Stoney to call us the Browns is ridiculous on it's face. Yes, I get it, we haven't had a playoff in in 5 years. But we also haven't tanked, either. Cowher went 6-10 TWICE before he won his first Super Bowl. Perspective people. We're contenders and we're improving.

Were those guys drafted in 2015?

You guys really want to see poor draft production over the past 7 years? The team where every talking head says they're the best drafting team in the league and Ozzie Smith is a genius. They haven't had a good draft since 2008. It's the reason why they're terrible now, and won't be good for a couple more years. Mosely is their only pro bowler selected after 2008.

Personally, I don't throw this draft all at D. Our strength is the offense, and to me, I make sure there isn't a playmaker on the board if I select defense. Give Ben another mismatch at TE or WR, or draft a stud at LG or T if they fall. Plus we do need a backup to Bell. Someone who can catch, block, and run. Imagine how this offense would be viewed if we took Eiffert instead of JJ?

I would really work at FA to try and solve a problem or two on defense. Draft picks take two years to solve problems. And at corner it isn't like you need a top flight guy anyway. With this defense a good mid level guy is fine. Look at Willie Gay. But they do need An outside pass rusher. Jones is a complete bust. So if the players available are even close you have to go defense.

Weakest position on team right now is Blakes spot. Many mocks have quality CB's going late first round.
I'd like to get Mackensie Alexander

I want Henry at our second spot, but he won't last that long.

If the Defense find a replacement for Jarvis Jones and Blake, it will be much better off. A weak link pass rusher and primary coverage person is the worst weak links to have.

I think I said I was for trading up for Peters. Just imagine if we had him?

I loved Peters coming out too. Ideally I would like us to sign Bruce Irvin from Seattle to take Jarvis's spot. The draft a cb in rd 1, safety in rd 2.
