Burrow carted off bungle practice field

The Cynic in me wonders if this isn’t Burrows sneaky way to hold out for his extension… i don’t think he can legally hold out … but a strain that can’t be quantified would allow him to milk things until the deal is done
Especially after Herbert got his deal done. I think we need to watch what happens with Burrow because they have interesting ways of reporting these contracts. Everyone has Herbert at $52.5 million per year, just over what Lamar got from Baltimore. However, they're only reporting the new money from the 5-year extension. In reality, Herbert has a 7-year contract that averages just over $42 million per year, where Jackson's deal actually carries an average of $52 million per year. If I'm Joe Burrow, I'm not taking a "new" money record deal. I want my deal to surpass what Jackson is getting paid.

Yeah but Burrow and his top WR's said they aren't interested in being the top paid as they want to keep the team together. We will see how that holds up. If Burrow is paid that high, Boyd is gone. And, then, they will still have to make some decisions if they want to keep Higgin, then Chase, and if they want to maintain any other of their top players. Once you pay the QB that top money, keeping other players becomes that much more difficult.

IDK, I can't see how milking an injury increases his value. I can see doing it to get out of camp that far too many players feel they don't need or look forward to.
What's Burrows work ethic?

1/2 of Pickett’s………

Take a look at the recent high qb deals above Mahomes deal… … so ignore the two geezers who got bank…Wilson andRodger who are both on the tail end of their careers… the rest…Herbert, Hurts, Jackson, Murray and Watson..
Combined they have won fewer playoff games than Burrow has in basically two seasons… his passing stats are equal or superior to all of them…

There is no reason he shouldn’t be asking for a ridiculous amount if that’s what he wants… if he hit UFA after two years he’d be making well over 60 million in that cap space … even them franchising him would give him an insane payout especially since all these contracts are being reworked over tge next few years…

Man, I remember a poster arguing the Steelers gave Watt too much when they signed him to an extension, saying that was QB money. That premise was nuts at the time and clearly it didn’t take QBs to blow that number out of the water.

So whats everyone’s take on this now?

Is it just a really bad strain that is taking more time than normal?
Are they just playing it super safe?
Is he really DL holding out for a contract extension?
Is he milking it to skip camp?
Or is it worse than they are letting on?

I've read calf injuries are very tricky and he was likely to miss time in the regular season.

Oh yeah. If it's any kind of tear, for sure. You're mechanics will put a lot of pressure on the balls of the feet just throwing. That doesn't even include running. You don't rush that injury or you'll end up losing your qb for most of the season.

Not a chance in Hell-a that I would wish injury on anyone or player. I can’t control that aspect and have no desire to.

Playing full strength or not full strength is also out of my control.

I can only hope we play well enough for the “W” on the day that’s we are playing, regardless of the opponent’s team on the field of play.
